Best Buy says nearly all U.S. stores will open late for the November 5, 2026 launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on Nintendo Switch 2, with listed opening times beginning the evening of November 4 in most time zones. The retailer says select stores will have limited quantities of the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 system, game and Pro Controller; there are no rainchecks for the hardware. Check your local store’s event listing before travelling because participation, hours and stock are not guaranteed.

Best Buy says participating stores will have limited quantities of three items available for purchase: the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Nintendo Switch 2 system, copies of Ocarina of Time for Switch 2, and the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 Pro Controller. Nintendo lists October 29, 2026 as the release date for the anniversary hardware, ahead of the game’s November 5 launch.

Prices are Best Buy’s listed product prices in 2026, not a promise of the event price or of current availability. The event page does not give store-by-store allocations, a walk-in reservation option, or a guarantee that any item will remain in stock when you arrive. The game’s “while supplies last” condition does not mean every store will have the same number of copies.
How to check your store before travelling
- Open Best Buy’s event page and select your location to see whether the store is participating.
- Check that store’s listed hours; the time-zone schedule is not a substitute for its local event information.
- Review the product listing and event terms, then contact or check the store again if your plans depend on a particular item. The published event terms do not guarantee inventory.
Changing a shipped preorder to store pickup
If you already placed an order for the game with shipping, Best Buy says you can sign in to My Best Buy, open purchase history and modify the order for event pickup. Its corporate announcement also says customers will receive an email option to switch to store pickup. This changes how an existing preorder is fulfilled; it is not a promise of additional walk-in stock.
Rank #2
- Play the original Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
- Or the Master Quest edition with many bonus features
Know which anniversary controller you are buying
The event’s listed hardware is the Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition Switch 2 Pro Controller. Nintendo separately describes a Pro Controller with display stand as available only through Nintendo Store. These are distinct configurations, so check the product name and description rather than assuming a stand is included with the Best Buy event controller.
Other listed accessories are not event-stock promises
Best Buy’s catalog also lists a matching anniversary carrying case and screen protector, but neither its announcement nor its event page says those accessories will be available at the late-night opening. A catalog listing alone does not establish event or local-store stock.
