Which PS5 fantasy RPG best combines exploration and choice?
Baldur’s Gate 3 for PS5 is the clearest match for both. PlayStation describes exploration across the Forgotten Realms, including vertical journeys from the Underdark to the Upper City, alongside a story shaped by choices, relationships, and the fate of the world. Its page says, “Your choices play out in the company of a rich cast of characters.”
That combination makes it the best starting point if “choice” means decisions that affect the narrative and your relationships, as well as different ways to handle encounters. The official description does not quantify how many outcomes or branches the story contains, so this is a qualitative comparison rather than a measured ranking.

Choose it when you want narrative decisions and character relationships to sit alongside discovering places and secrets. The official description also points to tactical flexibility in encounters, making it the most broadly aligned option for both halves of this article’s criteria.
Elden Ring: discovery and combat freedom
Choose it if the main pleasure is finding routes through a large world and its dungeons, then deciding how to approach exploration and combat. PlayStation’s description emphasizes those freedoms; it gives less direct evidence of branching narrative decisions than its description of Baldur’s Gate 3.

Choose it if you want to shape your character’s vocation and customize your main Pawn while exploring two named kingdoms. Choose it for the freedom to roam familiar Wizarding World locations while developing a witch or wizard and forming relationships. The official page mentions a decision about the wizarding world’s fate, but does not establish story branching on the scale described for Baldur’s Gate 3.
