For the closest match to R.E.P.O.’s scavenging and quota pressure, start with Lethal Company—if your group has four players or fewer. If you need room for six or more, look at Murky Divers. Choose Content Warning for camera-driven chaos or Phasmophobia for ghost investigation. None is an exact substitute for R.E.P.O.’s combination of physics-based cargo handling, extraction pressure, proximity voice and co-op horror.
What makes a game feel like R.E.P.O.?
R.E.P.O. is an online co-op horror game for up to six players. Its central job is to retrieve valuable objects and extract them while monsters threaten the team; those objects are physics-based, so handling fragile cargo is part of the challenge. Steam also lists proximity voice chat, teamwork, upgrades and weapons among its features. The game was released on February 26, 2025, and its Steam listing identifies it as Early Access. That mix matters when choosing an alternative. A game may share the scares or the group banter without sharing the hauling, loot or extraction. The best pick depends on which part your group wants to keep.

Best games like R.E.P.O., by group and play style
| Game | Best for | Player count reported by GAMES.GG | How it differs from R.E.P.O. |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lethal Company | Scrap scavenging and quota tension | Up to 4 | Scrap collection and quota pressure are the closest shared loop here, but it is less focused on carefully handling fragile objects. A six-player group cannot all join without modifications. |
| Murky Divers | Keeping a larger group together | 1–8 | Teams clean up underwater laboratories; submarine operations and underwater horror replace R.E.P.O.’s object hauling. |
| Content Warning | Friends who like performing for the camera | 2–4 | The team films scares and returns with footage, making recorded content the goal instead of extracted valuables. |
| Phasmophobia | Ghost evidence and deduction | 1–4 | Players gather evidence and identify ghosts rather than running loot-extraction jobs. |
| DEVOUR | Escalating pursuit and rituals | 1–4 | The cited comparison emphasizes completing rituals under pressure, not an extraction economy. |
| FOREWARNED | Tomb exploration and mystery | 1–4 | Its focus is exploring tombs and recovering relics. |
| Barotrauma | Systems management and role coordination | Up to 16 | Operating and repairing a submarine involves more complex systems and role specialization than R.E.P.O.’s retrieval runs. |

Which alternatives work for six players without mods?
Of the options listed here, Murky Divers is the clearest fit if your group wants to stay together at six: GAMES.GG reports support for one to eight players. Barotrauma is another large-group option, listed for up to 16, but its submarine operations and systems-management focus make it a more substantial change of pace.
R.E.P.O. itself supports up to six players, according to its Steam listing. GAMES.GG lists Lethal Company, Content Warning and Phasmophobia at four players or fewer. Limits can change, so verify the current official listing—especially if your group depends on mods or cross-platform play. The comparison does not establish cross-play support.

Choose by the job you want to do together
For scrap, quotas and risky scavenging: Lethal Company
Pick Lethal Company if the part you want to preserve is searching for valuable material and trying to meet a quota under pressure. It is the closest match to R.E.P.O.’s scavenging-and-extraction rhythm in this list, but it does not put the same emphasis on carefully hauling physics-driven fragile cargo. Its reported four-player cap also rules it out for a six-person team unless you use modifications.
For footage and group antics: Content Warning
In Content Warning, the team’s objective is to film frightening encounters and return with footage. Choose it if your group enjoys making the run itself entertaining to watch; it changes the reward from recovered valuables to recorded footage. GAMES.GG reports a two-to-four-player range.
Rank #3
- VHS: Very Horror Stories is a Horror Role Play Game inspired by ‘70’s, ‘80’s and ‘90’s classics such as Hellraiser, Nightmare, Alien, Halloween and many more, coming in three stand-alone boxed sets that allow you to play in a different subgenre of Horror each.
For investigation: Phasmophobia
Choose Phasmophobia when you would rather observe, gather evidence and identify a ghost than haul loot. It shares cooperative horror, but the central activity is investigation. GAMES.GG reports one to four players.
For underwater cleanup: Murky Divers
Murky Divers is the large-group alternative if your team is willing to trade object retrieval for underwater laboratory cleanup. A supplementary recommendation guide also describes it as an underwater cleanup game for up to eight players, but check the current official listing for the exact limit.
Rank #4

- GAME NIGHT GORE: A variety of questions covers classic and modern horror. Easy questions for the horror novice and more challenging questions for die hard fans make the game fun for the whole group!
- THE GORY DETAILS: Horror Trivia is perfect for 2 or more players or teams and is an absolute "scream" at parties. Ideal for horror fans, adults and teens ages 13 years and older, game includes 150 new cards with 300 questions and answers.
For a more involved submarine crew: Barotrauma
Choose Barotrauma if what appeals to your group is coordination across roles and keeping a dangerous operation running. Its reported limit of up to 16 makes it suitable for larger crews, but the systems and role specialization are a bigger departure from R.E.P.O.’s grab-and-extract runs.

For rituals or relics: DEVOUR and FOREWARNED
DEVOUR shifts the focus toward completing rituals while pursuit escalates. FOREWARNED leans into tomb exploration and relic recovery. Both are reported at one to four players, so they suit smaller groups better than a full six-person R.E.P.O. party.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to pick the right one
- Count the players first. R.E.P.O. supports up to six. Among the alternatives in the comparison, Murky Divers and Barotrauma have the reported capacity for larger groups; several others are listed at four or fewer.
- Agree on the shared job. Choose Lethal Company for scrap and quotas, Content Warning for filming and footage, Phasmophobia for ghost identification, Murky Divers for underwater cleanup, or Barotrauma for submarine operations.
- Decide how much you want to change the feel. None of the cited descriptions establishes another game with R.E.P.O.’s exact combination of fragile physics-based cargo and extraction. Choose the mechanic you want to keep rather than expecting a clone.
- Check the official listing before purchase. Confirm current player count, platform, cross-play support, price and sale status for your region. The comparison describes its seven games as paid Windows PC games through Steam, but regional prices and sales vary. R.E.P.O.’s Steam page identifies it as Early Access.
What is planned for R.E.P.O.?
Steam says the planned full version is intended to add player customization, meta progression, story elements, upgrades, equipment, levels and enemies. These are plans stated on the listing, not a confirmed release schedule or guarantee of final contents. R.E.P.O. on Steam
