There is no universal best preset for Halo: Campaign Evolved: on PC, start with a graphics preset and tune resolution, upscaling, and frame-rate behavior to your hardware and display. For a less processed image, Halo Support recommends Temporal Super Resolution (TSR) with Minimum Frame Rate set to None. Xbox players should check the in-game Video and Accessibility menus; official sources reviewed do not specify Xbox graphics modes, resolutions, or frame-rate targets.
Best PC graphics settings: start with a preset, then tune
Halo Support documents eight individual graphics quality options. Choose a preset as a baseline, then adjust individual options and resolution scale to balance image detail against performance; the available guidance does not establish one preset as best for every PC. The key controls are resolution scale and Minimum Frame Rate, which can affect image stability in different ways.

Resolution scale
Resolution scale ranges from 50% to 200% of your display resolution in 10% increments. A lower value can improve frame rate when the PC is not CPU-limited, at the cost of image detail. Values above 100% can make the image sharper, but may be demanding. If performance is already constrained by the processor, lowering resolution scale may not help much. Halo Support’s PC graphics options guide explains the control and its range.

Minimum Frame Rate offers targets from 30 to 240 FPS in 30-FPS increments. When enabled, the game dynamically lowers or raises internal resolution to pursue the selected target. That can help maintain frame rate, but image quality may change as resolution shifts; an overly ambitious target can make those changes more noticeable. If clarity is more important than dynamic adjustment, set the control to None. Halo Support describes these targets and scaling behavior.

Choose upscaling for clarity, performance, or hardware support
For the least altered image using an upscaling technique, Halo Support recommends TSR with Minimum Frame Rate set to None. TSR uses temporal information and, in this configuration, behaves similarly to TAA without dynamic resolution. Raising render scale above 100% can further improve fidelity and sharpness if your PC has enough performance headroom. Halo Support’s PC technology guide gives this recommendation.
A later update added a separate Upscaling Technique option named None. In the August 17, 2026 patch (build 2026.08.11.1121610), this setting turns off upscaling and anti-aliasing completely. It is not the same as choosing Native quality: Native removes resolution upscaling while retaining image reconstruction, anti-aliasing, and other processing. Choose between them based on how much image processing you want, not just on the word “native.” Halo Support’s technology guide and the August 17, 2026 patch notes describe the distinction.
| Option | What it does | Availability and trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| TSR | Uses temporal information for image reconstruction. | Described by Halo Support as universally compatible; it does not support frame generation. With Minimum Frame Rate set to None, it is the recommended least-altered upscaling configuration. |
| FSR 3 / FSR 4 | AMD upscaling options. | FSR 3 is available on all hardware. FSR 4 is automatically enabled for supported AMD RDNA 4 / RX 9000 graphics cards, according to Halo Support. |
| XeSS | Intel upscaling option. | Available to all hardware but may provide limited performance gains on non-Intel hardware; available only in the Steam version, according to Halo Support. |
| Upscaling Technique: None | Disables upscaling and anti-aliasing completely. | Added in the August 17, 2026 patch; distinct from Native quality, which retains image reconstruction and anti-aliasing. |
Frame generation is available only when supported by both the hardware and the selected upscaling technique. It is not a universal switch, and TSR does not support it. Check the options shown on your PC and storefront rather than assuming every listed technology is available in every configuration. Halo Support describes technology compatibility.
Balance smoothness, tearing, and input response on PC
- Vendor Specific low-latency mode: Automatically selects NVIDIA Reflex, AMD Anti-Lag, or Intel Xe Low Latency according to the PC’s hardware.
- VSync: Can reduce or remove screen tearing, but may add input delay and cap frame rate. Turning it off can allow higher frame rates and more responsive input, with possible tearing.
- Frame-rate limit: Capping the frame rate can reduce processor load, power use, and heat, while improving frame pacing.
- Async compute: May help when the GPU is the bottleneck, but can slightly hurt performance when the CPU is the bottleneck. Try it on your own hardware and compare.
These controls address different bottlenecks and trade-offs; a setting that improves smoothness on one PC may not help another. Halo Support outlines their behavior in its PC graphics options guide and PC technology guide.
Accessibility settings for comfort, readability, and sensory needs
Halo Support documents controls across motion, visual effects, text, color, HUD, and narration. Open the in-game Accessibility and Video menus to see what is available on your platform; some options are platform-specific. The documented options include:
Rank #2
- Disc only. Original case and manual not included. Will come packaged in a generic case.
- This renewed game has been cleaned, tested, and shows minimal wear.
- Motion and effects: Adjust first- and third-person field of view (65–120 degrees), screen shake, motion blur, HUD parallax, flashing effects, and damage-screen effects. Animated-menu controls are also available.
- Readability: Adjust subtitle size, weight, spacing, and opacity; HUD text and opacity; and brightness and contrast.
- Narration: Use the screen narrator and adjust its volume and speed.
- Color and visual cues: Choose color-vision filters for deuteranopia, protanopia, or tritanopia. Customize colors for the crosshair, navigation, teammate markers, subtitles, and motion tracker.
- HDR: HDR controls apply to HDR-capable displays.
To make text easier to read, try subtitle size and weight as well as HUD text controls; changing only brightness will not enlarge text. To reduce motion or visual intensity, look for the separate controls for motion blur, screen shake, flashing, damage effects, HUD parallax, and animated menus. The Halo Support accessibility guide lists these options.

Mouse-and-keyboard players can customize single and double bindings, horizontal and vertical sensitivity, mouse smoothing, and mouse acceleration parameters. The official guidance does not prescribe a universal sensitivity value. Change one setting at a time and keep the adjustment that feels comfortable for your aim and movement. Halo Support’s accessibility guide covers input customization.
Gameplay modifiers and achievements
The game provides four customizable modifier presets. Halo Support warns that using any difficulty modifier preset prevents certain achievements and trophies. To earn all achievements and trophies, choose None and make sure every member of the fireteam has presets turned off. This warning concerns gameplay modifier presets; the documented guidance does not say that ordinary accessibility options such as subtitles or narration disable achievements. Halo Support’s difficulty modifiers guide explains the restriction.
What Xbox players can and cannot assume
Halo Waypoint identifies Xbox Series X|S as a supported platform. Halo Support also notes that some accessibility options are platform-specific, so check the in-game Video and Accessibility menus on your console for the controls actually available there. The official materials reviewed do not establish Xbox graphics presets, resolution targets, or frame-rate modes; PC-specific settings such as resolution scale, Minimum Frame Rate, and the listed upscaling technologies should not be treated as confirmed Xbox options. Halo Waypoint’s game page lists supported platforms, and the accessibility guide notes platform variation.
