For a versatile Modern Warfare III multiplayer starting point, use the Quartermaster Suppressor, Folding Stock, PCS-90 Assault Grip, 50 Round Drum, and DR-6 Handstop. CODMunity published that build on August 11, 2024; it is a dated recommendation, not a verified 2026 meta verdict. For small maps, the same source listed a variant that swaps in the Hatchet Light Stock and Paracord Grip.
Versatile HRM-9 multiplayer loadout
CODMunity’s August 11, 2024, recommendation for a general-purpose MW3 multiplayer build is:

This is a useful documented baseline if you want one configuration to start with. The cited page does not establish that it remains the strongest build in the current multiplayer balance, and no controlled test comparing these attachments is available here. See CODMunity’s HRM-9 page.

The two builds differ in stock and underbarrel. The small-map label signals a mobility-oriented alternative, but the source does not provide a controlled head-to-head handling comparison or numeric advantage for either setup.
How to tune the build in Gunsmith
Activision advises players to choose loadouts for their mode and playstyle, read Gunsmith attachment descriptions, and use the Firing Range to understand how a setup handles. Apply that advice rather than assuming an older attachment recommendation still behaves the same after game updates. Activision’s Call of Duty guides cover loadout and Gunsmith guidance.

- Open the HRM-9 in the multiplayer Gunsmith and equip the five attachments from the baseline or small-map variant.
- Read the current in-game descriptions for each attachment; use them to identify the trade-offs relevant to your preferred mode and playstyle.
- Test the weapon in the Firing Range. If an attachment does not suit the way you use the HRM-9, change it and compare the handling yourself.
- Check the in-game unlock requirements. CODMunity lists Folding Stock at level 3, PCS-90 Assault Grip at level 13, 50 Round Drum at level 18, and Hatchet Light Stock at level 12; it does not list unlock levels for every recommended attachment. Those older listed levels may not reflect later changes.
What the historical balance notes tell you
Activision’s June 2024 Season 4 notes increased the HRM-9’s maximum damage range from 16.5m to 17.8m (+8%) and its near-medium damage range from 24.1m to 25.4m (+5%). These are changes recorded in that patch, not a full current stat sheet. Read the Modern Warfare III Season 4 patch notes.
At Season 1 launch, Activision described the weapon as “Sporting a high fire rate and excellent handling and mobility, the HMR-9 is the perfect fit for aggressive run-and-gun playstyles.” The official announcement spells the name “HMR-9” in that sentence. It describes the weapon at launch, not its current balance standing. See Activision’s Season 1 announcement.

Keep MW3 multiplayer and Warzone builds separate
CODMunity’s HRM-9 page also contains Warzone recommendations and Warzone-only pick-rate and time-to-kill information. Those figures do not establish the best MW3 multiplayer setup, so they are not a sound basis for choosing this multiplayer build. The attachment recommendations above are specifically presented as MW3 multiplayer builds.
