Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →If you want the closest game to Reigns, start with Reigns: Her Majesty: it keeps the quick left-or-right royal decisions and balancing act, then adds items that can unlock narrative paths. For deeper council politics, consider The King’s Dilemma: Chronicles; for another digital kingdom-management game on Switch, look at Your Majesty. The board game The King’s Dilemma is a group tabletop alternative, not a solo video game.
What makes a game like Reigns?
In Reigns, you rule as a medieval monarch, answering requests from advisers, peasants, allies, and enemies with a swipe left or right. The decisions affect four factions—the church, people, army, and treasury—and some consequences arrive later, shaping a reign or dynasty. Recurring requests, surprises, and unlockable challenges give repeated runs different directions. [Steam]
That combination is more specific than “a game with choices.” The closest matches combine consequential decisions with competing interests and a story that changes as those decisions accumulate. Some recommendations below share the quick swipe loop; others trade it for a larger campaign or a different format.
The closest games to Reigns
Reigns: Her Majesty — the same compact decision loop, with more branching tools
This is the most direct continuation of the formula: you still make left-or-right royal decisions while managing the kingdom’s factions. Its main addition is an inventory of special items that can be used on character cards to open narrative paths. Royal challenges unlock more cards and possible directions for the dynasty. Choose it if you want the familiar short-turn rhythm with another way to shape events; it is a sequel in the Reigns series, not a separate alternative. [Steam]

Your Majesty — kingdom measures and court trouble on Switch
Your Majesty puts you in the role of a king making political decisions. Nintendo’s US store description says the player balances money, health, justice, agriculture, and army while dealing with court intrigue, war, uprisings, religious conflict, and diplomacy. It is a useful fit if the monarch-and-dilemmas premise appeals to you and you want a digital Switch game. The listing emphasizes management of several kingdom measures; it does not describe the swipe interaction that defines Reigns. Nintendo’s US listing identifies the Switch edition as digital, released February 16, 2024. [Nintendo US]
For a larger political campaign
The King’s Dilemma: Chronicles — council decisions with consequences across generations
Rather than ruling through a stream of individual swipe cards, you lead a council in the fictional kingdom of Ankist. Dilemmas affect relations among houses and the kingdom’s resources; decisions can open later dilemmas and branching paths across generations. It is the strongest pick here if you want more interconnected politics, resource management, and campaign structure than Reigns offers.
