The first question is not which Nintendo Switch dock is best—it is which Nintendo Switch you own. Nintendo Switch 2 requires a Switch 2-compatible dock, while the original Switch and Switch OLED use the earlier dock ecosystem. The original Switch dock is not compatible with Switch 2, and Switch Lite cannot output video to a television at all.
For most Switch 2 owners, buy the official Nintendo Switch 2 Dock if reliability matters most. Choose the Genki Covert Dock 3 for compact travel, the JSAUX OmniCentro for a cheaper compact setup, or a larger JSAUX dock when Ethernet, extra USB ports, or controller charging are more important than portability.

| Console | Dock requirement | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Nintendo Switch 2 | Switch 2-compatible dock | The original Switch dock is not compatible |
| Nintendo Switch OLED Model | Original Switch dock ecosystem | The OLED dock includes wired LAN; earlier standard docks generally do not |
| Original Nintendo Switch | Original Switch dock ecosystem | Typical TV output is up to 1080p/60Hz |
| Nintendo Switch Lite | No dock can add TV output | Switch Lite does not support TV Mode |
Nintendo’s compatibility guidance distinguishes the Switch 2 dock from the original Switch dock. Its Switch Lite support page confirms that the Lite cannot connect to a TV through a dock. If you have an OLED model, remember that its dock’s wired LAN port is a feature of that dock—not a feature every original Switch dock includes. Nintendo explains the accessory differences here.

Which type of dock are you replacing?
A replacement dock, a second-room dock, and a travel dock have different priorities.
- Replacement dock: Choose official hardware if you want the least compatibility uncertainty and the simplest support path.
- Second-room dock: An official second dock is the lowest-risk option; a reputable third-party model can reduce the cost if you accept more variables.
- Travel dock: Prioritize size, an integrated charger, foldable plugs, cable requirements, and regional adapters.
- Desktop or family-room dock: Ethernet, multiple USB ports, controller charging, and cable management may justify a larger enclosure.

| JSAUX OmniCentro | JSAUX says Switch 2, original Switch, and OLED | Variant-dependent; verify whether a complete wall charger is included | Up to 4K/60Hz for Switch 2; up to 1080p/60Hz for original Switch models | No | Budget compact use | Limited ports; USB-A is USB 2.0 |

Best official replacement: Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
If your priority is compatibility rather than the lowest price, the official Nintendo Switch 2 Dock is the sensible default. It avoids the third-party questions around firmware updates, power delivery, HDMI handshaking, and manufacturer support.
It is the strongest choice for a replacement dock or a second permanent setup. You should still check the current official listing for standalone price, availability, included AC adapter, and HDMI cable. Do not assume that a dock-only listing includes every accessory supplied with a console bundle. Nintendo’s support information for Switch 2 is available at this page.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Nintendo says Switch 2’s official dock supports output up to 4K resolution and up to 120 frames per second when the console, game, display, settings, and connection support those modes. That is a maximum capability, not a promise that every game renders at 4K/120Hz.
Best travel dock: Genki Covert Dock 3
Best for: hotel rooms, portable monitors, travel bags, and buyers who also use laptops, tablets, phones, or other handhelds.
Genki listed the Covert Dock 3 at $69.99 when checked. It is a compact 65W GaN travel dock with HDMI, one USB-A accessory port, HDR and VRR support, and foldable prongs. Genki positions it as a multi-device USB-C dock rather than hardware for Switch alone. Its portable-docking collection lists global adapters separately at $10.00, so confirm the plug arrangement for your destination and the exact contents of the regional package.
The integrated power supply is its biggest practical advantage: there is less to pack than with a small dock that needs a separate wall charger. The trade-off is connectivity. There is no Ethernet and fewer expansion ports than a desktop dock. It is also not the right product if you need several wired peripherals or controller charging bays.

- [Compatibility]: The SiWiQU dock only works with Nintendo Switch/Switch OLED. The switch docking station is not work with Nintendo Switch 2 (2025). (NOTE: Only docking station included, no cable or charger.)
- One-touch Display Switching: Press the TV/Tabletop Mode button at the back of the dock, you can choose Tabletop Mode or TV Output Mode.
- Special Design: The guide notch have a spring buffer function, You don't have to worry about damaging the port over time when docking the console in. The switch fits into the dock tight and secure (NOT compatible with protective cases). The anti-skid pad at the bottom prevents it from sliding around or falling over by accident.
- Charge While Playing: The charging stand allows the Switch system to be charging while in TV or tabletop mode. Built in smart original chip, having Short-circuit Protection, Over Power Protection, Recovery Protection and Overheating Protection.
- Portable and Lightweight: This Switch dock with classic red and blue colour match is only 109g(0.24lb), 7.5 in * 2.3 in * 1.3 in size, which is much more portable and lightweight than official dock. Its work capability is the same as official standard.
Genki’s page is the source for the specifications and price; those details are not independent proof of long-term reliability. Independent coverage from Nintendo Life and Tom’s Guide offers reviewer perspectives, but their judgments should not be treated as universal test results. Also, do not confuse Covert Dock 3 with Genki’s separate ShadowCast capture products: HDMI output and video capture are not the same thing.
Best cheaper compact dock: JSAUX OmniCentro
Best for: price-conscious buyers who want a small named-brand dock for Switch 2 or an earlier Switch model.
JSAUX listed the US-plug charger-dock variant at $45.99 and a basic kit with an HDMI cable at $53.99. JSAUX says the OmniCentro supports Switch 2, the original Switch, and Switch OLED, and includes a USB-C cable. Its listed connections are HDMI, USB-A, and USB-C PD input.
For Switch 2, JSAUX lists output up to 4K/60Hz with HDR and 10-bit output. For original Switch models, it lists up to 1080p/60Hz. The compact design is attractive for a spare room or occasional travel, but the USB-A port is specified as USB 2.0 with a maximum transfer rate of 480Mbps. There is no Ethernet or controller-charging system.
Pay close attention to the selected variant. A dock’s charging circuitry is not necessarily the same thing as a complete wall charger. JSAUX says Switch 2 TV Mode requires a 65W charger and warns against USB-A-to-USB-C power for proper performance. Calculate the complete price of the dock, suitable USB-C PD power supply, and HDMI cable rather than comparing dock-only prices. JSAUX’s shipping and 15-day refund terms should also be checked because they can change.
These compatibility and performance claims come from JSAUX’s product page, not independent verification. The OmniCentro is a good value direction when its complete setup cost remains below the official alternative, but it is not an electrically identical replacement for Nintendo’s dock.
Best for Ethernet and peripherals: JSAUX 7-in-1
Best for: a permanent desk or family-room setup with wired networking and several accessories.

- (Note: This dock lacks a built-in Ethernet/LAN port and is not compatible with Switch 2)【Smart TV Dock System】: Switch between TVs seamlessly with built-in 18Gbps HDMI 2.0 cable and 39W PD fast charging. Integrated cable management keeps setups tidy for 1080p@60Hz video output and 15V/2.6A device charging.
- 【39W Fast Charger】: Intelligent power delivery maintains stable 39W charging, Multi-protection system with thermal monitoring ensures safe operation during long sessions.
- 【Pro Connectivity Hub】: 3-in-1 expansion with HDMI, USB 3.0 and dual USB 2.0 ports. Non-slip base with cable channels supports tabletop mode and accessory expansion.
- 【Portable All-in-One Kit】: Complete docking solution includes compact TV dock, HDMI cable and PD charger. Travel-ready components fit in laptop sleeves.
- 【Certified Compatibility】: Premium chipset ensures stable 1080p mirroring with TV Dock.
JSAUX’s comparison lists HDMI 2.1 output, two USB-A 3.1 ports, one USB-C 3.1 port, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB-C PD input. It is a dock-and-stand-style product rather than a pocket travel adapter. Ethernet is useful for competitive multiplayer, large downloads, and a console that stays in one place.

Otherwise, a compact dock is cheaper to move and simpler to troubleshoot. More connections also create more opportunities for loose cables, power limitations, and HDMI handshake problems. JSAUX’s collection showed a “from” price signal of $39.99 when checked, but the exact configuration, stock, included power supply, and final price require confirmation on the product page.
Best for a shared gaming room: JSAUX 6-in-1 Gaming Dock
Best for: households that want controller charging and physical organization around a shared console.
JSAUX describes this larger dock as having HDMI output, USB-C PD input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, four Joy-Con charging slots, and a Pro Controller slot. Its listed price signal was $59.99 when checked.
This is not a direct competitor to a pocket-sized travel dock. Its value comes from reducing clutter and keeping controllers ready, not from minimizing luggage. Skip it if you use wireless controllers, already have charging equipment, or do not need Ethernet and storage features. Verify the current price, stock, included adapter, return terms, and shipping status before ordering.

Power matters more than the dock’s sticker price
Nintendo says the original Switch AC adapter cannot power Switch 2 in TV Mode because the systems have different power-output requirements. It can charge Switch 2 when connected directly to the console, but that does not make it a suitable power source for Switch 2 TV docking.
Many third-party Switch 2 docks specify a 65W input requirement. That is the dock’s maximum or required input rating—not necessarily the amount delivered to the console. JSAUX says the OmniCentro needs a 65W charger for Switch 2 HDMI output and limits charging to 30W, which it describes as matching the official dock’s stated charging level.

- Use the supplied adapter when the dock includes one.
- If it does not, use a USB-C PD charger that meets the dock’s stated requirement.
- Do not assume a phone charger, USB-A-to-USB-C cable, or random laptop adapter will provide the correct mode.
- Keep the console’s original adapter available when troubleshooting.
The complete setup cost may include the dock, USB-C PD charger, HDMI cable, dock adapter or stand, shipping, and an international plug adapter. A cheap dock that needs a $30–$60 charger may no longer be the cheap option.
Video output: separate the console, dock, display, and game
A dock cannot give a console capabilities that the console, game, display, or cable does not support. Nintendo’s Switch 2 launch information describes output up to 4K and up to 120fps under appropriate conditions. JSAUX lists the OmniCentro at up to 4K/60Hz for Switch 2, while original Switch models generally top out at 1080p/60Hz.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →When comparing specifications, separate four limits:
- Console limit: what Switch 2 or an original Switch can output.
- Dock limit: the resolution, refresh rate, HDR, VRR, and bandwidth the dock supports.
- Display limit: what the TV or monitor accepts on that HDMI input.
- Cable and game limit: the HDMI cable, settings, and title may restrict the available mode or frame rate.
HDR and VRR also require compatible display hardware, correct settings, suitable cabling, and software support. A dock advertising HDMI 2.1 does not mean every Switch 2 game runs at 4K/120Hz.

- HDMI: essential for TV or monitor output.
- USB-A: useful for wired controllers, wireless dongles, keyboards, mice, and supported storage devices.
- Ethernet: worthwhile for a fixed setup, online play, and large downloads.
- USB-C data: more versatile if you also want to connect laptops, tablets, phones, or handheld PCs.
- Capture support: must be verified separately. Ordinary HDMI output is not built-in capture.
- Controller charging: useful in a family room, but it increases size and cost.
Are third-party docks safe?
A reputable third-party dock can be cheaper, smaller, more versatile, or better equipped than Nintendo’s hardware. The risks are uncertainty over power delivery, firmware behavior after a Nintendo system update, HDMI handshaking, thermal design, USB-C connector quality, safety documentation, warranty support, and returns.
Avoid unbranded listings that do not state power requirements, compatibility, return terms, or safety information. Marketplace listings can also combine original Switch, OLED, and Switch 2 versions under nearly identical names. DekuDeals discusses the importance of certification and cautions that a manufacturer’s assurance is not the same as independently verified markings on the physical product: read its comparison here.
No third-party dock should be treated as guaranteed to remain compatible forever. Check for firmware instructions, keep the receipt, and buy from a retailer with a practical return window.

Case fit and travel details
Protective cases can prevent proper insertion or put pressure on the USB-C connector. Do not assume a dock supports a case unless the manufacturer verifies your specific console-and-case combination. You may need to remove the case, use a dock adapter, or choose a stand-style design with a separate cable.
For travel, count every component: dock, power adapter, HDMI cable, USB-C cable, and regional plug adapter. The Genki’s foldable design and integrated power supply reduce cable clutter. A compact dock that needs a separate charger may occupy nearly as much luggage space as the official dock once everything is packed.
How to set up a Switch dock
- Connect the dock’s power adapter to the dock.
- Connect HDMI from the dock to the TV or monitor.
- Select the correct HDMI input.
- Insert the console into the dock, or connect it using the dock’s specified USB-C cable.
- Wait for the console display to appear on the external screen.
- After video works, connect controllers and other USB accessories.
With a third-party dock, begin with the supplied or explicitly specified charger. Do not diagnose a video problem using an unknown phone charger.

If there is no picture
- Confirm that the television is on the correct HDMI input.
- Reseat HDMI at both ends.
- Disconnect dock power, wait briefly, and reconnect it.
- Remove USB accessories temporarily.
- Try the console’s original or the dock’s specified AC adapter.
- Try another HDMI cable and another display.
- Update the console and, where supported, the dock firmware.
- Confirm that the console is not a Switch Lite.
- Confirm that the dock matches the console generation.
- Test the dock directly with the TV rather than through an HDMI switch, AV receiver, or capture card.
Long HDMI runs, receivers, switches, and capture devices can introduce handshake failures that do not occur in a direct dock-to-TV connection. Follow the manufacturer’s connection order if it specifies one.
What to check before clicking Buy
- Is the dock for Switch 2 or original Switch hardware?
- Does the exact variant include a complete wall charger?
- Does the charger meet the required USB-C PD rating?
- Is an HDMI cable included?
- Do you need Ethernet, high-speed USB, controller charging, or capture hardware?
- Will the console fit with its case installed?
- Are HDR and VRR supported by the entire setup?
- Is safety information visible on the actual product?
- What are the warranty, return window, shipping cost, and regional plug terms?
- What is the complete price after adding missing accessories?
Final verdict
Buy the official Nintendo Switch 2 Dock when this is a replacement or permanent second setup and you want the lowest compatibility risk. Choose the Genki Covert Dock 3 when travel size and integrated 65W power matter most. Choose the JSAUX OmniCentro when you want a smaller, lower-cost option and have confirmed the charger and cable included in your chosen variant. Pick the JSAUX 7-in-1 for Ethernet and multiple peripherals, or the 6-in-1 for controller charging and shared-room organization.
If you own a Switch Lite, save the money: no dock can add TV output to that console.
