The strongest evidence-backed starting point puts the Dresden 9mm, C9 and KSV in the leading group, followed by the Ladra, PPSh-41, SAUG and Tanto .22. The Jackal PDW, Kompakt 92, PP-919 and LC10 sit in the lower group in CODMunity’s October 10, 2025 tier snapshot. That is a dated third-party assessment—not a verified October 2026 live ranking, and not an exact order within each group.
For BO6 multiplayer, SMGs are built around short-range engagements and mobility. Which one fits best depends on what you value: reliable balance, quick aiming, hard-hitting shots, ammunition capacity or close-quarters speed.

How to read this BO6 SMG ranking
Call of Duty does not publish an official all-SMG ranking in the sources available here. The tier groups below follow CODMunity’s list, last updated October 10, 2025. Treat them as a snapshot of a third-party meta assessment, not proof of current weapon balance or a precise ranking inside a tier. CODMunity also assigns EaseScores to some weapons, but those publisher-defined scores are not game-performance statistics.
The snapshot names 11 SMGs, including weapons added after launch. Call of Duty’s launch article confirms six launch SMGs, and its Season 4 article confirms the LC10 as a later addition. The available sources do not establish the complete live roster, October 2026 patch state, or mode-specific restrictions.

Leading tier: Dresden 9mm, C9 and KSV
CODMunity labels these three “Absolute Meta.” It gives the Dresden 9mm an EaseScore of 9.5, the C9 8.8 and the KSV 8.7. Those scores are CODMunity’s own ratings; they should not be read as measured damage, accuracy or other in-game statistics. The source does not establish an exact rank order among the three.
Dresden 9mm
The Dresden 9mm is in CODMunity’s leading group, but the official weapon descriptions available here do not specify its role or characteristics. Its precise strengths should not be inferred from the tier label alone.
C9
The C9 is the most clearly documented all-rounder among the launch SMGs. Call of Duty describes it as well balanced and reliable in close-to-mid-range situations. Its launch magazine holds 30 rounds, making it a straightforward starting point for players who want a general-purpose option rather than a weapon defined by one unusual tradeoff.
KSV
The KSV’s official launch description highlights quick aim, manageable recoil and good damage. Its launch magazine holds 30 rounds. That combination gives it a distinct role within the top group, though the available sources do not provide a direct statistical comparison with the C9 or Dresden 9mm.
Next tier: Ladra, PPSh-41, SAUG and Tanto .22
CODMunity places these four in A Tier. The official pages available here provide weapon-specific details only for the Tanto .22; the tier list does not establish which of the other three is best for a particular range or playstyle.

- Cross-Gen Bundle of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will also be available on select game pass plans at launch. *
Ladra, PPSh-41 and SAUG
These weapons appear in CODMunity’s A Tier group. The available official descriptions do not document their individual roles, so a more detailed comparison would require evidence beyond this ranking snapshot.
Tanto .22
The Tanto .22 fires slowly but hits hard, is easy to handle and is described by Call of Duty as strong at mid range. Its launch magazine holds 30 rounds. That makes it a different kind of choice from a fast-firing close-range specialist: its documented appeal is controllability and impact rather than firing speed.
Lower tier in the snapshot: Jackal PDW, Kompakt 92, PP-919 and LC10
CODMunity labels these four C Tier. That is an overall tier assessment from its October 2025 snapshot, not a denial of the weapons’ specific strengths. In particular, Call of Duty’s launch descriptions emphasize the Jackal PDW’s mobility and the Kompakt 92’s class-leading fire rate. Raw traits and overall tier placement answer different questions: a weapon can excel in one area without ranking as highly overall in a particular meta assessment.

Call of Duty describes the Jackal PDW as highly mobile and easy to handle for aggressive close-quarters use. Its launch magazine holds 30 rounds. Those traits make it a natural fit for players who prioritize movement and handling, even though CODMunity placed it in C Tier in its dated snapshot.
Kompakt 92
The Kompakt 92 had the fastest fire rate in the launch SMG class and was described as excelling at close range. Its launch magazine holds 30 rounds. Its high fire rate is a specific strength, while CODMunity’s C Tier label reflects its broader assessment of the weapon in that snapshot.

PP-919
The PP-919 starts with a 64-round magazine, the highest ammo count in its class according to Call of Duty’s launch article. The tradeoff is reduced mobility and fire rate. The launch description also notes fewer magazine options and no underbarrel attachment slot. It suits a different priority—carrying more ammunition—than the most mobile SMGs.
LC10
Call of Duty’s Season 4 announcement describes the LC10 as a full-auto SMG with excellent accuracy and range, moderate rate of fire, average mobility and very slow handling for its class. Its base magazine holds 34 rounds. The same announcement says a laser can improve hipfire spread and a barrel can extend damage range. These documented traits explain why its role may appeal to a player seeking range and accuracy, even though it appears in CODMunity’s C Tier snapshot.

In its multiplayer guide, Call of Duty describes SMGs as best for short-range engagements, usually full-auto, and highly mobile. Its comparison categories are firepower, accuracy, handling and mobility. Those categories help explain why a weapon’s tier label need not settle every player’s choice.
- For a balanced close-to-mid-range option: start with the C9, which Call of Duty describes as reliable across that range.
- For quick aiming and manageable recoil: consider the KSV.
- For a slower, hard-hitting and controllable option: consider the Tanto .22.
- For aggressive close-quarters movement: the Jackal PDW’s documented mobility and handling are relevant.
- For the fastest launch-class fire rate: the Kompakt 92 is the standout named in Call of Duty’s launch description.
- For ammunition capacity: the PP-919’s 64-round launch magazine is its defining documented advantage.
- For accuracy and range: the LC10’s Season 4 description emphasizes both, alongside slow handling for its class.
Attachments can change the comparison
These role descriptions are not a universal build recommendation. Call of Duty says SMGs are medium-to-short-range primary weapons and that Gunsmith attachments can specialize them. The launch article lists nine attachment types and up to five attachment points for an SMG. As a result, a weapon tuned for one priority may not behave like its unmodified version, and the sources do not specify a single stock or attachment build behind CODMunity’s tier placements.
