The best Star Wars game on PlayStation depends on what you want to play: start with Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order for Cal Kestis’s story from the beginning, then continue with Jedi: Survivor. Choose LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for a playful retelling of all nine main saga films, or Star Wars: Republic Commando for squad-based tactical shooting. These games offer distinct experiences rather than one universal best.

Which Jedi game should you play first?
Start with Fallen Order for Cal Kestis’s story
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is the natural starting point if you want to follow Cal from the beginning. Its story introduces the character and leads into Jedi: Survivor. Lucasfilm describes Survivor as picking up five years after the first game. The US PlayStation Store’s cross-gen bundle listing includes editions of both for PS4 and PS5, though the availability of individual editions can vary by storefront.

Choose Survivor for the continuation
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is a single-player, third-person action-adventure from Respawn Entertainment. Lucasfilm describes it as a galaxy-spanning continuation of Cal’s story, with new Force abilities, lightsaber fighting styles, and exploration across familiar and new planets. It is a sequel, so playing Fallen Order first gives the narrative its intended order; players chiefly interested in the newer chapter can begin with Survivor.
The release sequence matters when choosing a console edition: EA says Survivor first launched on PS5 on April 28, 2023, and its PS4 edition launched September 17, 2024. The PlayStation Store bundle page also lists September 17, 2024 as the bundle release date. Store prices and availability can change.

Pick a different style: LEGO comedy or tactical shooting
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga for a lighter retelling
LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga revisits memorable moments from all nine Skywalker saga films in LEGO form. Lucasfilm highlights its LEGO humor, while GamesRadar characterizes it as humorous and family-friendly. It is the clearest fit here for players who want a comedic take on the films rather than a serious Jedi-led story.
Republic Commando for squad tactics
Star Wars: Republic Commando shifts the focus from lightsabers to a squad of Clone Troopers. GamesRadar describes it as a tactical first-person shooter and lists a PS4 port. Confirm the exact PlayStation Store listing and edition for your region before purchase; a listing for one PlayStation generation does not establish compatibility with every other generation.

What about other Star Wars games and classics?
There are worthwhile branches beyond these four picks. Lucasfilm’s catalog also features Star Wars Battlefront II, Star Wars: Squadrons, and Star Wars Outlaws, pointing to large-scale faction battles, starfighter combat, and an open-world scoundrel adventure. The cited material does not verify the current PlayStation purchase edition for each of those titles, so check the relevant console’s official store before relying on platform availability.
For older games, the Lucasfilm catalog identifies a seven-game Heritage Pack, and Aspyr’s cross-platform catalog describes a collection of nine iconic Star Wars games and highlights classic Battlefront titles on modern consoles alongside games such as Bounty Hunter, Republic Commando, and Jedi Knight. These catalog descriptions do not mean every listed classic is available on every PlayStation generation. Verify the specific title and edition you want in the PlayStation Store. Aspyr game catalog

How to choose the right PlayStation edition
- For story order: choose Fallen Order first and Survivor second.
- For comedy and film coverage: look at The Skywalker Saga.
- For tactical squad combat: look at the PS4 listing for Republic Commando.
- Before buying: check the official store for your region and console generation. Prices, availability, editions, and subscription catalogs can change, and a game’s appearance in a publisher catalog does not prove compatibility with your system.
