Godlike.Host is listed first here because its Unturned servers use a Pterodactyl-based game panel with backups, SFTP/FTP access, DDoS protection, and multiple locations. Host Havoc is the better fit for administrators who want extensive file-level control, and RocketNode offers the clearest budget RAM-based plans.

There is no universally best Unturned server host. Your choice should follow your expected concurrent players, vanilla or modded setup, player locations, CPU needs, backup requirements, and willingness to manage files yourself. Prices and location availability can change, so treat the figures below as observed signals rather than permanent quotes.

Quick verdict

Provider Best for Displayed price signal Notable features Main caution
Godlike.Host Unturned servers with a game panel See current plans Pterodactyl-based panel, DDoS protection, up to three backups a day, SFTP/FTP, ten locations Check current plan details and selected location
BisectHosting Best overall balance From a displayed $5.99 for a selected 2 GB configuration OpenMod, RocketMod, NVMe, automated updates, three days of backups, 21 advertised locations A desired location may be out of stock
Host Havoc Hands-on administration $12.60/month displayed for an 18-slot configuration FTP, file manager, Workshop installer, MySQL, logs, scheduled restarts, offsite backups Less attractive for very small budget servers
RocketNode Budget RAM-based hosting From $6.50/month for 2 GB OpenMod installer, Apollo panel, DDoS protection, trial, upgrade path “Unlimited slots” is not unlimited hardware capacity

Godlike.Host is listed first here for Unturned hosting because it offers a game panel, backups, DDoS protection, and multiple server locations. These are use-case recommendations, not independent performance rankings. The available evidence is primarily provider documentation and product pages; no independent latency, uptime, crash-rate, or mod-load benchmark was established.

1. Godlike.Host: Unturned servers with a game panel

Godlike.Host provides Unturned server hosting through its Pterodactyl-based game panel. The service includes free DDoS protection, a personal firewall with player-access and IP filtering, up to three free backups a day with restore, and 24/7/365 support by live chat or ticket.

  • Includes 3×120mm fans (pre-installed) or supports 360mm liquid cooling radiators (pre-installed fans must be removed)."
  • M/B size: ATX/MicroATX/Mini-ITX

  • 8 slots PCI/PCIE expansion: Support max length=320mm with fans only / max length=305mm with AIO only
  • PSU: SFX or SFX-L

It lists ten data-center locations across North America, Europe, and Asia, and supports SFTP/FTP access, task scheduling, sub-users with permissions, and linked or independent multiple servers. A built-in mod installer and updater plus custom server-pack uploads support hands-on server management.

The panel also includes a config editor that shares a settings file by link, an in-game store, and Discord bot management. Setup takes minutes after payment, and upgrades or downgrades are prorated; see the current plans for pricing.

Best for: Unturned communities that want managed hosting with backups, access controls, mod tools, and broad location choice.

Watch out for: Check the current plan details and selected location before ordering.

2. BisectHosting: best overall balance

BisectHosting is the strongest general-purpose pick for a private group or growing community that wants managed hosting without giving up mod and file-management flexibility. The provider advertises OpenMod and RocketMod support, free DDoS protection, instant setup, automated updates, NVMe storage, 24/7 support, and three days of free server backups.

It advertises 21 global locations and says customers can request a location change. That is useful if your community grows or the first region proves unsuitable. However, the configuration page showed at least one location out of stock when the pricing was captured. Check the actual selector before paying; a listed network location is not necessarily orderable at that moment.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The configuration flow displayed pricing of $3.00 per GB monthly, with lower monthly equivalents for quarterly, semi-annual, and annual billing. A selected 2 GB plan displayed $5.99 per month in the captured flow. Confirm the current recurring total, billing term, taxes, and selected location at checkout.

Best for: beginners who want a managed panel, mod support, backups, and room to expand.

Watch out for: location stock and the short advertised backup-retention period.

3. Host Havoc: best for self-service administration

Host Havoc is particularly suitable for administrators who expect to upload files, inspect logs, configure plugins, and manage a non-standard server setup. Its Unturned offering advertises FTP and file-manager access, a Workshop installer, OpenMod and RocketMod integrations, MySQL support for plugins, DDoS protection, backups, log viewing, and scheduled restarts.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Its guide library covers practical tasks such as administrator permissions, RocketMod installation, plugins, Workshop content, and automatic restarts. That documentation is valuable when a one-click installer is not enough and you need to understand the underlying files.

The provider page displayed $12.60 per month for an 18-slot configuration. That is a displayed configuration price, not a universal entry price: billing terms, selected resources, add-ons, taxes, and availability can change the final total.

Best for: plugin-heavy servers and administrators who want full file-level control.

Watch out for: a higher apparent starting cost than the smallest RAM-based plans.

4. RocketNode: best budget RAM-tier option

RocketNode offers the clearest resource ladder for buyers who prefer to choose RAM and vCPU rather than a slot-only package. The researched page listed these plans:

Plan Monthly price RAM vCPU Storage
Starter $6.50 2 GB 2 75 GB
Developer $12.50 4 GB 2 100 GB
Premium $18.50 6 GB 2.5 125 GB
Platinum $23.50 8 GB 3 150 GB
Ultimate $28.50 12 GB 4 175 GB

The plans include an OpenMod installer, DDoS protection, and the Apollo panel. RocketNode also advertises multiple locations and a 24-hour free trial. The page listed three backup slots as free, with additional slots available for an extra charge. It also displayed a $6 dedicated-IP add-on.

RocketNode lists unlimited player slots on its plans. That describes a configuration allowance, not tested capacity. A plan with finite RAM and vCPU cannot support unlimited simultaneous players. The 2 GB tier may suit a small vanilla group, but mod count, map, entities, plugins, and concurrency determine whether it is sufficient.

Best for: small groups that want a low entry price and a simple upgrade path.

What’s actually slowing this PC down?

Watch out for: backup add-ons, dedicated-IP costs, and the difference between unlimited slot settings and real hardware capacity.

How much RAM does an Unturned server need?

RAM is a starting point, not a capacity guarantee. A practical planning guide is:

  • Small vanilla private server: begin around 2 GB and monitor usage.
  • Small modded server: consider 4 GB or more.
  • Larger modded or public server: consider 6–12 GB, while checking CPU allocation.
  • Heavy Workshop and plugin stack: budget for additional RAM and stronger CPU resources, then validate with monitoring.

These are editorial starting points, not verified player-capacity benchmarks. CPU contention, Workshop loading, plugin behavior, map size, entity counts, save activity, and network conditions can all become bottlenecks. More RAM will not fix a weak or overloaded CPU.

How many player slots do you need?

Buy for expected concurrent players, not the maximum number a panel lets you enter. As rough planning estimates:

Free tools Windows power users keep installed

One-click scans. No signup required.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • 4–10 players: an inexpensive entry plan is usually the sensible starting point.
  • 10–25 players: 2–4 GB may be appropriate depending on mods and settings.
  • 25–50 players: investigate 4–8 GB plans and CPU allocation more carefully.
  • 50 or more players: ask the provider for workload guidance or consider premium/dedicated CPU resources.

None of these figures guarantees a particular player count. Test the actual map and mod stack, watch CPU and memory graphs, and leave headroom for peak activity.

How to compare Unturned hosting prices fairly

Providers use different pricing units, so a simple “cheapest host” ranking is misleading.

  • Per-slot pricing is easy to understand but can hide the underlying resources.
  • RAM-based pricing is more transparent for modded servers, but requires you to estimate memory needs.
  • Fixed tiers simplify purchasing but may include resources you do not need.

Normalize every quote using the monthly recurring price after any introductory period. Compare RAM, CPU allocation, storage, slot limits, location, backups, dedicated-IP fees, billing-term discounts, taxes, and add-ons. Apex’s first-month and recurring prices differ, while RocketNode’s optional backups and dedicated IP can change its total. The prices above were observed on August 16, 2026 and may change.

What “mod support” should mean

Ask exactly what the host supports. These are separate requirements:

  • Steam Workshop content and custom maps
  • OpenMod
  • RocketMod and Rocket plugins
  • Plugin dependencies and permissions
  • Manual file uploads through FTP, SFTP, or a file manager
  • Automatic Workshop updates
  • Plugin databases such as MySQL
  • Scheduled restarts and log access

Host Havoc documents Workshop uploads, RocketMod, Rocket plugins, and scheduled restarts. BisectHosting advertises OpenMod and RocketMod support. But support for a framework does not guarantee that every plugin is compatible. You still need to check framework versions, dependencies, configuration files, permissions, and update behavior.

Choosing a server location

Choose the data center closest to the majority of your players, not necessarily closest to the administrator. Physical distance matters, but routing can make a farther location perform better. Mixed-region groups may need a compromise.

Before ordering, ask for a test IP or use any available latency test. Confirm that the selected location is actually in stock. RocketNode’s researched locations included Ashburn, Dallas, Miami, Salt Lake City, Sydney, and Paris. BisectHosting advertises 21 locations and location changes, but availability can vary by date and region.

Moving later may require a support ticket, migration, and downtime. Save the server before changing location and confirm whether the new node uses a different port or IP.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Backups: the questions that matter

“Backups included” is not enough. Check how often they run, how many restore points are retained, whether they are stored off-server, whether you can download them, and whether restoration is self-service. Confirm that saves, Workshop configuration, plugins, permissions, and databases are included.

BisectHosting advertises three days of free backups. Host Havoc advertises offsite backups and data restores. RocketNode lists three free backup slots and paid additional slots. Short retention can still leave you exposed after a delayed discovery of corruption, so keep an independent downloadable backup before major updates.

What to check before buying

  1. Test latency to the actual available location.
  2. Confirm the location is in stock at checkout.
  3. Record the normal recurring price, not just the promotion.
  4. Verify RAM, CPU allocation, storage, and upgrade options.
  5. Confirm OpenMod, RocketMod, Workshop, and manual-upload requirements.
  6. Ask about backup frequency, retention, download access, and restore procedure.
  7. Check whether a dedicated IP is included or charged separately.
  8. Read refund, cancellation, suspension, and renewal terms.
  9. Ask whether migration assistance is included.
  10. Confirm that your chosen map, Workshop collection, and plugin stack are supported.

Moving from one host to another

Export the server saves, configuration files, Workshop configuration, plugin files, permission files, database contents, ban and whitelist files, custom maps, assets, startup arguments, and port settings. Download a complete backup before cancellation.

Set up the new server while the old one remains active. Test player connections, map loading, plugins, permissions, Workshop downloads, scheduled restarts, and restore procedures. Do not cancel the old host until the new server works and your backup has been downloaded.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

DIY Unturned hosting with SteamCMD

Managed hosting buys convenience, support, backups, and easier networking. If you are comfortable maintaining a server, Unturned’s official hosting documentation describes the Dedicated Server tool installed through SteamCMD.

The core SteamCMD update flow is:

login anonymous
app_update 1110390
quit

The documentation identifies 1110390 as the Unturned Dedicated Server app ID and places the files under SteamCMDsteamappscommonU3DS. You must configure the launch files and server settings, obtain a valid Game Server Login Token for public listing, and forward the required ports when hosting behind a home router. See the official Unturned server-hosting documentation for the current process and policies.

DIY hosting can run on a spare Windows PC, Linux machine, VPS, or dedicated server. It is a poor fit if you need zero maintenance, automatic backups, managed updates, simple mod installation, or reliable 24/7 availability.

Common DIY failures

  • Server does not appear: check the Game Server Login Token, LAN-only settings, port forwarding, firewall rules, listening process, and token validity.
  • Players cannot connect: test from outside the local network, verify the public IP and port, check forwarding to the correct machine, and confirm firewall rules.
  • Workshop content fails: verify item IDs, dependencies, server installation, client access, and logs; remove the newest item to isolate the problem.
  • Plugins cause crashes: disable the newest plugin, verify framework compatibility and permissions, restore the last known-good backup, then add plugins one at a time.
  • Lag or memory problems: monitor CPU and RAM, reduce expensive settings, test without plugins and Workshop content, then consider more RAM or dedicated CPU resources.

Bottom line

Choose Godlike.Host for an Unturned server with a game panel, backups, SFTP/FTP access, and multiple locations; choose Host Havoc when file access and administration matter most, and RocketNode for transparent low-cost RAM tiers. For any provider, verify the exact location, renewal cost, backups, mod workflow, and resource allocation before purchasing. If you are comfortable managing SteamCMD, networking, security, updates, and backups, self-hosting remains the most flexible alternative.
