There is no single best V Rising host for every group. Choose the platform and ruleset first, then compare capacity, CPU or resource allocation, administrative access, backups, region, renewal cost and mod compatibility. For a managed rental, PocketHost is the clearest official starting point because Stunlock documents its rental-management workflow. For private PS5 hosting, Stunlock’s December 1, 2025 FAQ names PocketHost and G-Portal; confirm that support and your exact group arrangement before paying.
PC players also have a second route: Stunlock documents the free V Rising Dedicated Server application for self-hosting. That option avoids a monthly rental but makes you responsible for the process, network access, saves, configuration and updates.

Quick answer: which V Rising hosting route fits?
Use this as a starting decision, not a universal ranking. Provider plans, console support, prices and software compatibility can change.
| Situation | Most sensible starting point | Why | Confirm before purchase |
|---|---|---|---|
| Private PS5 world | PocketHost or G-Portal | Stunlock’s PlayStation 5 FAQ dated December 1, 2025 names both for private PS5 hosting. | Current PS5 support, region, player limits, configuration access, backup policy and whether everyone in your group can connect. The FAQ does not establish cross-play. |
| Managed PC server with documented controls | PocketHost | Stunlock’s hosting guide documents status, basic settings, logs, configuration files, restart and update controls, and permission management. | Current price, location, backup retention, restore process, mod policy and renewal terms. |
| PC group that wants full operational responsibility | V Rising Dedicated Server application | Stunlock documents a self-hosting route through Steam’s Tools section. | Windows requirements, firewall and port forwarding, a stable machine and a plan for saves, updates and monitoring. |
| Lowest published entry price among the dated comparison examples | NitroServ or Minestrator | An August 27, 2026 comparison listed NitroServ from €12.99 per month for 10 players and Minestrator from €13.99 per month for 8 players. | Live price, billing term, renewal rate, resources behind the slots, supported platforms, region and cancellation rules. |
| Plan tiers with published CPU-priority language | Supercraft | A page reviewed September 2, 2026 describes 8-, 16- and 32-slot tiers, corresponding CPU-priority levels, settings access, backups, DDoS protection and four regions. | Exact CPU allocations, real-world performance, current regions, restore details and whether the claims apply to the plan you select. |
No controlled cross-provider performance test establishes a latency, uptime or support winner. Treat comparison-page recommendations and provider feature lists as claims to verify, not as benchmarks.
#1 Best Overall
- Awaken as a Vampire. Hunt for blood in nearby settlements to regain your strength and evade the scorching sun to survive.
- Raise your castle and thrive in an ever-changing, open world full of mystery. Gain allies online and conquer the land of the living.
Decide these requirements before comparing providers
1. Platform: PC, PS5 or an unverified cross-platform setup
Write down exactly where your players run V Rising. Stunlock’s PlayStation 5 FAQ names PocketHost and G-Portal for private PS5 hosting in the FAQ’s December 1, 2025 state. That is an official snapshot, not a permanent guarantee. Check the provider’s current product page immediately before ordering.
Do not assume a PS5 server accepts PC players. The cited FAQ does not establish mixed-platform cross-play, so treat cross-play as an open compatibility question and obtain a direct answer before anyone pays. A host advertising PC slots is not automatically a PS5 host, and a PS5 listing is not proof that every console region or account arrangement works.
2. Ruleset and season plan
Decide whether the world is PvE or PvP and record the rules that affect administration:
- Whether raids are enabled, and at what times.
- Clan-size limits and any role or access restrictions.
- Resource, crafting, gathering and progression rates.
- Password, whitelist and public-listing requirements.
- Castle decay, inactive-player handling and moderation responsibilities.
- How often you want a seasonal wipe, if at all.
A larger slot count cannot repair an unsuitable ruleset. If you run a public PvP community, moderation tools, logs, permissions and a documented rollback procedure may matter more than two extra slots.
3. Peak concurrency, not just the advertised slot number
Estimate the highest number of players online at the same time, not the number in your group chat. Compare that peak with the plan’s concurrent-player limit and with any disclosed CPU priority or resource allocation. A slot figure is a capacity label, not a performance test; two plans with the same slots can behave differently if their CPU, memory, storage or scheduling is different.
4. Administration and access
List the actions the person running the server must perform. Useful controls include viewing status, changing basic settings, reading logs, editing configuration files, restarting, updating and granting permissions. Stunlock specifically documents those capabilities in its PocketHost management description. Other providers may expose different panels, so ask for screenshots or current documentation rather than inferring parity.

Ask five separate questions: how often are backups made, how long are they retained, can you download them, how does a restore work, and can you restore a world after a wipe? A seasonal reset is designed to create a fresh ruleset; a backup is designed to recover from corruption, a bad configuration or an accidental deletion.
Rank #2
- Street Fighter V Volume 1: Champions Rising
- ABIS BOOK
- Udon Entertainment
Stunlock’s PS5 FAQ explains that a reset deletes vampires, castles and other server data. It also says resets clear land held by inactive users to provide a fresh experience. Never treat the reset itself as your only copy of a world you may want to keep.
6. Region, billing term and renewal
Choose a data-center region close to the majority of players, then price the complete billing period. Compare the initial charge, recurring renewal price, taxes or currency conversion, optional backups or extra storage, cancellation rules and whether changing locations requires a new order. A low first-month price is not the same as a low annual cost.
7. Version and mod policy
Ask how the host handles a V Rising server update and what happens when the client and server versions do not match. Community BepInEx mods are version-sensitive; a guide published in 2026 warns against treating mod support as risk-free. Confirm the exact game version, installation method, update timing and rollback options for each mod you need. Never assume that a mod working on a self-hosted server is supported on every rental plan.

What the named hosting options actually establish
The table below separates documented facts from items that still require a current provider check.
| Option | Documented evidence | Published offer details | Limits of the evidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| PocketHost | Stunlock’s November 27, 2024 “How to Host a Server” guide describes renting and managing a server through PocketHost. The December 1, 2025 PS5 FAQ also names it for private PS5 hosting. | Status, basic settings, logs, configuration files, restart and update controls, and permission management are described in the official guide. | Current pricing, regions, backup retention, mod support and performance are not established by those documents. |
| G-Portal | Stunlock’s December 1, 2025 PS5 FAQ names it as a private-hosting provider. | That official FAQ does not provide a current price, resource allocation or detailed control-panel specification. | Confirm platform, region, settings access, backups, renewal terms and cross-play directly. |
| NitroServ | An August 27, 2026 third-party comparison lists it among V Rising hosts. | From €12.99 per month for 10 players in that dated comparison; larger-tier and platform claims are also described there. | The figures are a dated offer snapshot. The comparison discloses affiliate links, and its value or platform ranking is not independent testing. |
| Minestrator | The same August 27, 2026 comparison lists it. | From €13.99 per month for 8 players in that dated comparison; larger-tier and platform claims are also described there. | Verify the live offer, resources, regions, supported platforms and renewal price. No controlled performance result is provided. |
| Supercraft | A Supercraft page reviewed September 2, 2026 describes its displayed offer. | 8-, 16- and 32-slot tiers; corresponding CPU-priority levels; settings access, backups, DDoS protection and four regions. | Exact CPU values, restore testing and comparative performance are not stated. These are operator-published claims, not a neutral award or benchmark. |
How to evaluate a rental plan step by step
- Confirm the platform in writing. Select the PC or PS5 product, then ask whether every intended player can join. For PS5, ask specifically about current console support and do not infer cross-play.
- Write the ruleset before choosing slots. Record PvE or PvP, raids, clan limits, rates, password requirements, castle-decay rules and intended wipe cadence. This prevents a cheap but incompatible plan from becoming the wrong purchase.
- Match slots to peak activity. Use your busiest expected online period, add a modest margin for guests if the server is public, and compare any disclosed CPU or resource tier alongside slots.
- Inspect the management panel’s actual permissions. Look for status, settings, logs, configuration-file access, restart, update and user-permission controls. Stunlock documents these functions for PocketHost; do not assume another panel exposes the same controls.
- Read the backup and restore terms. Identify cadence, retention, downloadable-save support, restore time, charges and whether a restore can be performed without opening a support ticket.
- Choose a region based on player geography. If players are split across continents, ask the host which location gives the best compromise and whether moving regions later is possible without losing the world.
- Calculate the renewal cost. Compare monthly and longer billing periods, introductory pricing, recurring price, taxes, add-ons and cancellation terms. Keep the date of the quote because hosting offers change.
- Check update and mod handling. Confirm supported V Rising versions, maintenance procedure and whether your BepInEx or other community mods are allowed on that plan. Ask what happens after a game patch breaks a mod.
- Test before inviting everyone. Connect from the intended platform, verify server visibility or direct connection, check permissions, change one non-destructive setting, create a backup and confirm that the backup is visible in the panel.
PS5 private hosting: what is known and what is not
Stunlock’s PlayStation 5 FAQ, dated December 1, 2025, names PocketHost and G-Portal as the two providers then supporting private hosting on PS5. That makes them the appropriate first candidates for a console group, but it does not make either a permanent winner. Platform support, regions, pricing and plan inventory can change.
The same FAQ says the goal of official servers is “The goal of official servers is to provide a stable V Rising experience.” It also explains that resets remove vampires, castles and other server data while clearing land held by inactive users. Decide whether your group wants an official reset cadence or a persistent private world before selecting a service.
For a PS5 purchase, obtain confirmation of these points in the same conversation or support ticket:
- PS5 support for your country or region.
- Whether the server is private, password-protected or publicly listed.
- The maximum concurrent players and clan limitations.
- Whether all intended players use PS5, or whether a mixed-platform group is supported.
- Access to settings, admin controls and logs.
- Backup frequency, retention, download and restore procedure.
- How game updates and wipes are scheduled.
If a provider cannot answer the cross-play question precisely, treat that as a compatibility risk rather than buying on the assumption that PC and PS5 can share the world.
Self-hosting on PC with the dedicated-server application
Self-hosting is the alternative to a rental, not a zero-maintenance shortcut. You supply the computer, network path, storage, backups, monitoring and update process.
Install and start the official application
- Open Steam’s Tools section and install the V Rising Dedicated Server application.
- Do not expect the Steam library entry’s normal launch action to start the server. Stunlock’s guide says that opening the library entry itself takes you to the detailed GitHub instructions.
- Follow those current instructions and start the server executable from its installation directory.
- On first launch, expect a new server to use default game settings. Stop the process before editing configuration, and keep a copy of every working settings and save file.
- Set the server name and ruleset, then start it again and allow time for initialization.
- Connect using the server name or external IP. Stunlock notes that a recently launched server can take a few minutes to appear in the server list.
Network and configuration cautions
A community-maintained V Rising Wiki lists the standard game UDP port as 9876 and the Steam query UDP port as 9877; it also notes TCP for RCON on the game port. These are secondary-source technical details, so verify the current values and the complete firewall or port-forwarding procedure against Stunlock’s official GitHub instructions before opening your network.
The same community reference documents Windows requirements and configuration paths, but server versions can change those details. Preserve your chosen settings outside example files that an update may overwrite. Keep saves and configuration in a location that is included in your backup routine, and restrict administrative or RCON access to trusted users.
What self-hosting makes you responsible for
- Keeping the process running and restarting it safely after crashes.
- Updating the server without losing settings or saves.
- Opening only the required network ports and maintaining firewall rules.
- Backing up worlds before updates, configuration changes and wipes.
- Resolving version mismatches between the server, client and mods.
- Providing a recovery plan if the host machine, drive or internet connection fails.
For a small private PC group with an always-on machine and a technically confident administrator, this control can be worthwhile. For a group that wants someone else to handle uptime, panel access and routine updates, a managed rental is usually the simpler operational choice.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Capacity, CPU and performance: how not to misread a plan
Provider pages commonly lead with slots because slots are easy to compare. Treat them as a limit, not a guarantee. Ask what CPU priority or resource allocation accompanies that limit, whether storage is shared, and whether backups or automated tasks compete with the game process.
Supercraft’s published offer is useful as an example of clearer disclosure: it describes different CPU-priority levels alongside 8-, 16- and 32-slot tiers. The page does not supply a controlled latency or uptime comparison, however. The NitroServ and Minestrator figures are entry-plan prices and player counts, not evidence that either has better performance at peak load.
Rank #4
Use your own acceptance test after purchase: have several players join simultaneously, travel through busy areas, trigger normal combat and crafting activity, and watch the panel’s resource graphs if available. Record symptoms and timings, then use the provider’s support process. Do not convert one group’s informal test into a universal ranking.
Backups, restores and wipes: a practical policy
Before opening the server
- Make one manual backup of the clean initial world.
- Download a copy if the host permits downloads.
- Record the ruleset, server name, administrator list and current game version.
During normal operation
- Schedule backups before major updates and before any planned wipe.
- Retain more than one restore point so a corrupted save is not copied over every backup.
- Test that a backup can actually be located and restored; a backup icon alone is not proof of recoverability.
Before a seasonal reset
Decide whether the reset is permanent, whether an archive will be retained, and who has authority to trigger it. Stunlock’s PS5 FAQ says a reset deletes vampires, castles and other server data. If returning players may want their old world, export or download the save first and label it with the date and game version.
Common failure modes and fixes
| Symptom | Likely cause | Action |
|---|---|---|
| The server is not visible immediately after launch. | Initialization or list propagation is still in progress. | Wait several minutes, then refresh. Stunlock specifically warns that a newly launched server may take a few minutes to appear. If it remains absent, inspect logs and confirm the process is listening on the expected network path. |
| Players cannot connect from outside the host machine. | Firewall, port forwarding, wrong external address or a provider-side network rule. | Verify the current official port instructions, allow the server through the firewall, confirm the public address and test from a different network. |
| Everyone is kicked after an update. | Client/server version mismatch or a mod that no longer loads. | Check the server and client versions, disable or update version-sensitive mods, and restore the last known-good configuration if necessary. |
| A setting change has no effect. | The wrong file was edited, the process was still running, or the panel requires a restart. | Stop the server, confirm the active configuration path, save the change, restart and verify the resulting log entry or in-game behavior. |
| A world was wiped accidentally. | A reset was triggered without a preserved restore point. | Use the provider’s restore process or your downloaded save. If no usable backup exists, the deleted world may not be recoverable; establish a tested backup schedule before reopening. |
| Performance degrades when the group is busiest. | Peak activity exceeds the plan’s practical resources even though the slot limit is not reached. | Compare CPU or resource tiers, collect panel metrics, reduce unnecessary load, or move to a plan with more appropriate resources. Do not judge only by advertised slots. |
Conditional recommendations for 2026
Choose PocketHost when managed administration is your priority
It has the strongest direct documentation in the supplied evidence: Stunlock explains how to view status, adjust basic settings, read logs, edit configuration files, restart and update, and grant permissions. It is also one of the two providers named in Stunlock’s dated PS5 FAQ. That makes it a sensible first quote for a managed PC server or a private PS5 group, not proof that it is cheapest or fastest in every region.
Choose G-Portal when it meets your PS5 and regional requirements
Its key qualification is official inclusion in Stunlock’s December 1, 2025 PS5 private-hosting FAQ. Obtain current details for resources, panel controls, backups, region and billing before treating it as equivalent to another provider.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Investigate NitroServ or Minestrator when the dated entry prices fit your budget
The August 27, 2026 comparison lists NitroServ from €12.99 per month for 10 players and Minestrator from €13.99 per month for 8 players. Use those numbers only as dated examples, then price the live plans and inspect what resources, platform support and renewal terms sit behind them.
Investigate Supercraft when disclosed resource tiers matter
Its September 2, 2026 page describes slot tiers paired with CPU-priority levels, settings access, backups, DDoS protection and four regions. Those details may make the offer easier to evaluate, but they remain provider claims without a neutral performance test. Ask for the exact CPU allocation, backup retention and restore procedure.
Self-host when you want control and can operate the server
The official dedicated-server application avoids a rental subscription and exposes the underlying setup, but you inherit maintenance, security, networking, backups and updates. It is best suited to a PC group with a reliable always-on machine and an administrator willing to troubleshoot.
Final buying checklist
- Platform confirmed for every intended player, with cross-play verified rather than assumed.
- PvE or PvP, raids, clan limits, rates, access rules and wipe cadence written down.
- Peak concurrent players matched to slots and disclosed resources.
- Required settings, logs, permissions, restart and update controls available.
- Backup cadence, retention, download and restore process understood.
- Region selected for the group’s geography.
- Introductory and renewal prices, billing term and cancellation terms calculated.
- V Rising version and mod policy confirmed.
- One backup and one connection test completed before inviting the full group.
The practical answer to “best” is therefore conditional: start with the officially documented PS5 candidates for a console private world, start with PocketHost when managed controls are the priority, compare dated commercial offers only after checking their live terms, or self-host on PC when you are prepared to operate the server yourself.
