Microsoft did not publish an official Xbox Year in Review for 2025; its last confirmed annual recap covered 2024. For a useful setup in late 2026, use the official Xbox mobile app for live Gamerscore and achievement progress, TrueAchievements for completion guides and its My Year on Xbox recap, and a cross-platform tracker such as Exophase, PlayTracker or Pyroblast if you also play on other systems. Microsoft’s reported replacement, Xbox Playback, is a forthcoming lifetime recap at xbox.com/playback, not a public consumer feature yet.
The right choice depends on what “tracking” means to you: current Xbox achievements, Microsoft-reported hours, completion planning, a shareable yearly graphic, or one profile spanning Xbox, PlayStation and PC stores.

Why are Xbox players looking for alternatives to Year in Review?
Xbox Year in Review was Microsoft’s Spotify-Wrapped-style summary of playtime, achievements and Gamerscore. The 2023 edition was dated 12 December 2023 and the 2024 edition 4 December 2024. Microsoft skipped a 2025 recap; the old link redirected to the Xbox home page instead of showing a report.
That gap is why TrueAchievements published My Year on Xbox 2025 on 9 December 2025. It became the practical way to create a shareable yearly summary while the official service was absent. Microsoft is now reported to be preparing Xbox Playback for the brand’s 25th anniversary on 15 November 2026, but its public launch date, regions and historical account coverage remain unconfirmed.

Which tracker should you choose?
Choose the official app for a quick live look, TrueAchievements for serious Xbox completion planning, Exophase for a unified achievement profile, PlayTracker or Pyroblast for playtime across systems, and PlayCounter for locally measured Windows gaming hours. No single service supplies every view with equal accuracy.
- Only Xbox and want the least setup: install the official Xbox app.
- Hunt every achievement: add TrueAchievements for roadmaps, missable warnings and time estimates.
- Play on PlayStation, Steam or other stores: use Exophase for achievements or PlayTracker/Pyroblast for playtime and library charts.
- Need PC Game Pass hours: use PlayCounter, understanding that it cannot observe a living-room Xbox.

What does the official Xbox app track?
The official iOS and Android Xbox app is the best first-party live dashboard. After signing in with the same Microsoft account as your console, it displays Gamerscore, unlocked achievements and current challenges, with progress synchronized to Xbox.

What it does well
- No separate tracker account or data import is required.

- It is convenient for checking progress away from the console.
What it does not do
The app is not a completion planner or annual recap. It does not flag missable collectibles, New Game Plus locks or estimate the time needed to finish a list. It also does not replace a community-maintained roadmap. Treat it as the always-on source for current status, not as an alternative to a yearly infographic.
Achievements and Gamerscore date to the Xbox 360 dashboard in 2005. A standard retail Xbox release traditionally carries a 1,000-Gamerscore base list, with downloadable content adding more; individual publishers can vary.
How do I use TrueAchievements for Xbox stats?
TrueAchievements is the strongest Xbox-first choice because it combines Microsoft account data with community guides, completion roadmaps, missable warnings, walkthroughs, multiplayer sessions and annual leaderboards. Core tracking is free and ad-supported.
Getting started safely
- Open TrueAchievements and choose Sign in with Xbox in the header.
- Continue to Microsoft.com, review the permission request and allow access to basic Xbox information.
- Confirm the site’s age requirement (16+) and accept its terms.
- Open a game roadmap to see achievement order, missable markers, estimated completion time and community walkthroughs.
TrueAchievements says Microsoft handles authentication, never shares your password with the site, and that the service receives only basic account information needed to identify your Xbox account and provide features. You can revoke access from the account’s Microsoft/TrueAchievements linking controls.

How My Year on Xbox calculates playtime
The 2025 recap includes games played, yearly Gamerscore, rarest achievements, most-played game, completed games, monthly activity and downloadable-content slides. Its ranking rule matters: “If we have accurate Time Played data from Microsoft for your account, we will base that on the number of Hours Played. If not, we will base it on the number of Achievements earned.” Therefore an achievement count can act as a fallback, not proof of actual hours.
How to generate and share the recap
- Open the My Year on Xbox page and sign in with Xbox or a free TrueAchievements account.
- Watch the animated infographic and select the share or download option.
- Copy the page link for a dynamic preview in services such as Discord or WhatsApp, or save the image for posting.
- After playing more, use Refresh your image to regenerate the statistics.
The 2025 infographic required at least three Xbox games released in 2025. A newly registered account has another limitation: TrueAchievements states that gameplay data is limited to games started after 1 January of that recap year. This means a late registration cannot reconstruct all older activity.
TA Score and annual leaderboards
TA Score and TA Ratio weight achievements by rarity, so a common 10G unlock does not count the same as a difficult or unusual 10G achievement. Annual leaderboards can be filtered by platform, genre, region and friends, with views for TrueAchievements Score, Gamerscore, achievements won, TA Difference and completed games.
The 2025 boards, published 6 January 2026, include online achievements only. Offline unlocks cannot be dated to a calendar year with certainty, so they are omitted rather than assigned to the wrong period.
Free versus Pro
The free tier covers core profile tracking and roadmap browsing. Pro is an optional ad-free tier with additional conveniences; current official pricing was not publicly stated in the available material, so prices shown by third-party roundup pages should not be treated as an official quote. Reported premium benefits include time estimates, downloadable-content tracking and quality-of-life filters.
Reports also disagree about whether a native TrueAchievements mobile app is currently available. The dependable access path is the website through Xbox OAuth; do not choose the service solely on an app-store listing.

Is Exophase the best cross-platform achievement tracker?
Exophase is the clearest choice when achievements are spread across Xbox, PlayStation Network, Steam, GOG, EA, Ubisoft, Epic, Google Play, Apple Game Center and selected retro platforms. It gives you one profile instead of separate console histories. Its interface is often described as dated, but its breadth is the main advantage.
What you get for free
The free profile aggregates supported networks and can be manually rescanned. Coverage depends on the platform’s available data and your account permissions, so a missing game is not evidence that its achievements were deleted.
What Premium changes
Exophase Premium costs $12 USD per year and does not auto-renew. The paid tier removes ads, performs automatic rescans roughly every two to three hours instead of relying on slower free refreshes, allows unlimited manual scans and adds custom gamercard backgrounds. It is the only hard public price among the major community trackers described here.
Which tools are best for measuring hours played?
Playtime is harder than achievements because services expose different kinds of data. Microsoft hours are preferable when available; achievement counts are only a proxy, while local PC process tracking measures the time a game is running on that computer.
PlayTracker
PlayTracker automatically follows libraries, playtime, achievements, graphs, friends, leaderboards and Quest challenges across Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, GOG, EA Origin, Battle.net and Guild Wars 2. It is available through a Windows app using Overwolf, with web and mobile access also listed.
A free plan is available. Paid plans are listed from €12 per month for Indie and €80 per month for Pro. Those prices are recurring plan prices, not one-time purchases. Pyroblast
Pyroblast is a free web service connecting Steam, PlayStation and Xbox. It combines libraries, logged sessions, playtime, achievements and rankings, with timelines, streaks, habits and a year-in-review recap. Optional AI summaries are offered, and profiles can be public or private.
Because Pyroblast relies on authorized platform APIs, its results reflect what those APIs expose. It is a good no-cost starting point for a cross-platform yearly view, but it does not provide TrueAchievements’ depth of Xbox-specific missable flags and walkthroughs.
PlayCounter
PlayCounter is a free Windows application that records recognized PC games locally, including titles launched through the Xbox app, Steam, Epic, GOG, EA, Ubisoft, Battle.net, itch.io and disc installs. Imports from Steam, Xbox and Epic can add the playtime those services report.
No account is required and data stays on the PC. That privacy model makes it suitable for Xbox PC and PC Game Pass hours, but it cannot live-track a game running on an Xbox console. A console player who leaves the room with a controller connected will not get a complete history from PlayCounter.

Xbox Playback is a reported replacement for the annual recap, designed as a lifetime view rather than a single-year summary. Developer @redphx found the page in Microsoft site code, and Windows Central said its sources confirmed the feature is real. The page was not publicly available at the time of reporting.
Reported Playback sections include total playtime, total games, top genre, most-played game, first console, first friend, first achievement, first game, first 100-percent completion, the year with most playtime, highest Gamerscore year, platform played most, total Gamerscore, total achievements, top achievements, ranking against other players, top five titles and games with the most Gamerscore, achievements or sessions. A short shareable version is also reported.

Another report mentions rarest achievement and time spent in each game. These details are not a promise of the final product. A prototype incorrectly identified a user’s first console, and availability, regional rollout and coverage of older accounts are unknown. Fan guesses about a 15 November 2026 release are speculation, not a Microsoft announcement.

A layered setup avoids forcing one database to answer incompatible questions.

What can make Xbox statistics look wrong?
- Phantom achievement display bug: In September 2026, a Microsoft display error made some completed games appear below 100 percent. Gamerscore itself was not altered.
