Spoilers for optional quests, bosses, and the finale. Black Myth: Wukong has a standard Chapter 6 ending and an alternate ending sequence. To see the additional sequence, complete the optional secret-area content and the Chapter 3 Treasure Hunter quest, unlock Mount Mei through the Great Pagoda, defeat Erlang and the encounters that follow, then return to Chapter 6 and defeat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell again.
How many endings does Black Myth: Wukong have?
The available ending references describe two principal Chapter 6 outcomes: the standard ending and a conditional alternate sequence often called the true or secret ending. The difference is tied to optional progress completed before the Chapter 6 finale, not a separate choice made during the final battle. The ending reference also says that after the credits, players can choose to continue the journey or start New Game+.

What must you do to unlock the secret ending?
The route draws on optional content from several chapters. It is not unlocked simply by defeating Erlang: after the Mount Mei battles, you still need to return to the Chapter 6 finale and beat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell again.
- Complete the four secret-area boss encounters: Elder Jinchi in Chapter 1, Fuban in Chapter 2, Duskveil in Chapter 4, and Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast in Chapter 5. The guides identify these as prerequisites for opening the route.
- Finish the Chapter 3 Treasure Hunter quest. This is also called the melon-field quest in route coverage.
- Go to the Great Pagoda. With the earlier optional requirements complete, the Great Pagoda connects the route to the hidden Mount Mei area.
- Clear the Mount Mei encounters. The route includes Erlang, the Four Heavenly Kings, and a later Erlang Shen encounter.
- Return to Chapter 6 and defeat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell again. The added ending animation follows this repeat victory.
Can you get the alternate ending after seeing the standard ending?
Yes. The guides describe continuing the journey after the credits, completing the hidden route, and revisiting the Chapter 6 finale. You do not need to start a new run just to see the additional animation; after clearing Mount Mei, return to the final boss and defeat the Great Sage’s Broken Shell again.

What does the alternate ending mean?
The alternate sequence adds to the finale, but the available route coverage does not establish every character’s knowledge or Erlang’s full plan. Treat claims about his motives, secret arrangements, or what each character intended as interpretation unless they are directly supported by dialogue or an explicit scene. The visible events are a firmer basis for explaining the ending than a definitive account of hidden motives.
