Black Ops Royale launched on Avalon at 9 PM PT on Thursday, March 12, 2026—that was 12 AM ET on Friday, March 13. The Season 02 Reloaded update arrived a day earlier, but the mode’s scheduled launch was later.
Black Ops Royale release date and time
Call of Duty’s official Black Ops Royale deep dive, published March 2, 2026, announced that the mode would launch Thursday, March 12, at 9 PM PT, or midnight Friday, March 13, ET. This is the clearest official confirmation of when Avalon went live.

Why the March 11 update was not the mode’s launch
Call of Duty scheduled the Season 02 Reloaded update for March 11 at 9 AM PT. Its Season 02 Reloaded announcement said Black Ops Royale would arrive shortly after the mid-season launch. That update time was not the go-live time for the mode: the separate Black Ops Royale announcement gave the launch as 9 PM PT on March 12.
What launched on Avalon
Black Ops Royale is a free-to-play Warzone battle royale mode inspired by Blackout. The official deep dive describes matches of up to 100 players across 25 four-person squads. Unlike a standard loadout-focused start, players begin without Loadouts and have no Gulag or Buy Stations; they scavenge for equipment on Avalon.

Xbox Wire’s March 13, 2026 report confirmed the mode was available in Warzone that day and also described Avalon as its large, varied map.

Is Black Ops Royale still available?
The launch announcement and March 13 confirmation establish when the mode arrived, but they do not establish whether it remains in Warzone’s playlist on October 8, 2026. Check the current in-game playlist or an official Warzone update for present availability.
