Bloodborne is a PlayStation 4 game that Sony lists as playable on PS5. On Steam Deck, the documented option covered here is to stream the PlayStation version from a PS5 using the third-party chiaki-ng client—not to run a native Steam Deck version. That means the PS5 runs the game in both cases; the Deck receives a stream, so its experience depends on setup and network conditions.
Does Bloodborne work on PS5?
Yes. Sony Interactive Entertainment identifies Bloodborne as a PS4 game, released March 24, 2015, and says it is playable on PS5. Sony cautions that updated system software may be required and that some PS4 features may be absent. Bloodborne on Steam Deck: what is actually running?
In this setup, the PS5 runs Bloodborne and chiaki-ng streams the PlayStation session to the Steam Deck. The Deck’s built-in controls can be used, with controller mapping configurable in chiaki-ng; a separate DualSense controller is optional. chiaki-ng is third-party software, not a Sony Steam Deck app. Sony’s official supported-client list does not include Steam Deck.

Performance: PS5 display versus a streamed Deck session
On a PS5 display, the console runs the game locally. With the Deck route, the console remains the host, while the Deck receives video and sends input through Remote Play. Streaming adds network dependence and another step between the controls and the game.
The available official and project documentation does not provide a controlled frame-rate, latency, or battery-life comparison for Bloodborne played on a PS5 display versus streamed to a Steam Deck. Sony says Remote Play quality varies with the network environment and the game. There is therefore no documented basis here to promise a specific frame rate, zero lag, or a universally smooth result. Network requirements and home setup
Sony’s general Remote Play guidance gives a minimum of 5 Mbps upload and download, and recommends at least 15 Mbps upload and download for best performance. These are connection recommendations, not guarantees of a particular picture, response time, or experience on Steam Deck. chiaki-ng’s guide distinguishes home streaming from internet access: its default home-network setup relies on the local router. - For an unstable stream, check that both the console and Deck have a working network connection.
- Pause other downloads or network-heavy activity, then test again.
- Try 5 GHz Wi-Fi if available. Sony notes that Remote Play may not work with NAT Type 3.
How to set up PS5 Remote Play on Steam Deck
- Enable Remote Play on the PlayStation. If you want to wake the console remotely, enable the relevant network options in its rest-mode settings as well.
- Install chiaki-ng on the Deck. Use Desktop Mode and follow the project’s Steam Deck installation instructions.
- Register the PlayStation and test the connection. Follow chiaki-ng’s registration steps, then confirm the stream works before adding the client to the Deck’s library.
- Add chiaki-ng to Game Mode if you want. The project documentation explains how to make it available there; this is optional.
- Optimize the home network. Prefer Ethernet for the PlayStation and Wi-Fi for the Deck, as chiaki-ng recommends for home streaming.
Exact menus and installation details can change with system and client updates, so use the current steps in chiaki-ng’s documentation. Sony’s speed guidance applies to Remote Play generally; do not interpret it as a benchmark for this particular client and game.

Choosing between them
Choose the PS5 display for the more direct arrangement: the console runs the game without adding a Remote Play stream to another device. Choose the Deck route if handheld play is worth the extra client setup and reliance on a suitable connection to the console. The available sources do not establish that one delivers better measured performance for Bloodborne; the practical choice is about where you want to play and how much setup and network dependence you will accept.
