Rafa’s Peacebreaker Cannons can automatically fire at enemies in his crosshairs, making a ricochet-focused setup feel like it does much of the shooting for you. But the current endgame guide still equips Rafa with guns for mobbing and bossing: this is an action-skill-centered build, not a promise that every fight clears itself without player input.
How the low-input Rafa build works
The core idea is to let Peacebreaker Cannons attack targeted enemies while Rafa’s build amplifies damage and ricochets. PC Gamer describes the cannons as automatically firing at enemies in Rafa’s crosshairs. Rafa’s Overdrive duration also does not decrease while an action skill is active, according to PC Gamer’s guide, last updated September 24, 2025. That mechanic helps explain the appeal, but the older article’s full build should not be treated as current after later balance changes.

Gear: use different weapons for mobs and bosses
The build guide distinguishes crowd-clearing from boss damage rather than claiming Rafa never needs to fire a weapon.

For ricochets, the guide recommends positioning so shots can bounce between enemies. It also says to maintain Lateral Plinking through Juerga and Inspirado. These details make positioning and skill upkeep part of the play loop; the cannons’ automatic firing does not mean there is nothing to manage.

What “don’t have to shoot” does—and doesn’t—mean
It describes a build whose action skill can contribute substantial active fire. It does not establish that Rafa can reliably clear all content unattended, that weapon fire is unnecessary in every encounter, or that this is definitively the fastest or strongest Rafa setup. PC Gamer’s older Bullet-Buddy setup, for example, recommends firing sticky ammunition for boss damage, underscoring that player-fired weapons can still matter.
A Reddit commenter described the aspiration as “afk rafa, autoclear the screen dont need to shoot an ammo” in February 2026. That is informal player phrasing, not evidence of an unattended clear or a measured result.

Gearbox’s April 30, 2026 Version 1.6 notes changed several Rafa-related interactions: Awe lasts longer when a class mod adds points to it, Errant Spark triggers when firing missiles, and Dancer’s Overdrive bonuses increase by 50%. The notes also list changes to the Buster, Filántropo, and Esgrimidor class mods. Those official changes are relevant context, but they do not certify this build as the best or most powerful Rafa option. Read the Borderlands 4 Version 1.6 notes.

The evidence supports calling this a current ricochet-focused endgame recommendation, not a proven “most broken” ranking: no comparative test data establishes that label, and later balance changes could affect performance. PC Gamer has also covered an Arc-Knives melee Rafa setup, so “best” depends on whether you value lower weapon input, melee play, gear demands, or the separate needs of mobbing and bossing.
