BrokenLore: ASCEND is not confirmed for January 7, 2027. As of October 7, 2026, the official Steam and US PlayStation Store listings show a 2026 release window, while an earlier PlayStation Blog announcement gave a Summer 2026 window for PS5. None of those official sources confirms the January 7, 2027 date in the supplied headline.
Is BrokenLore: ASCEND coming out on January 7, 2027?
That exact date is unverified. The Steam listing and US PlayStation Store listing, both accessed October 7, 2026, give a 2026 release window. Neither specifies January 7, 2027. Serafini Productions CEO Sebastiano Serafini announced the game on PlayStation Blog on November 11, 2025, with an initial Summer 2026 window for PS5; that earlier estimate may have been superseded, but the newer store pages still do not verify the January date.

ASCEND is a first-person psychological horror game about Ren and Yui, rooftop climbers attempting a forbidden nighttime ascent of Elysium Tower. The tower is fictional; the Steam page describes it as Japan’s tallest skyscraper as part of the game’s premise. The pair broadcast their climb on an online channel called SKYLIMIT, pursuing fame while fearing that they will be forgotten or become irrelevant.

A supernatural Rokurokubi entity haunts the ascent. Steam describes the gameplay as a combination of first-person horror, free-climbing and stealth: players navigate narrow ledges, hide from the entity and plan when to move. Those are the publisher’s storefront descriptions, not a hands-on assessment.

Does ASCEND stand alone in the BrokenLore series?
Serafini describes BrokenLore as a single-player psychological-horror anthology in which each game can stand alone while contributing to a larger series mystery. The series explores themes including identity, shame and the pressure to be seen, and uses oppressive spaces, puzzles and predator-prey chases. ASCEND’s focus on online attention and fear of irrelevance fits those stated themes, but the available announcement does not explain how its story connects to the wider mystery.
