Bully: Scholarship Edition for Windows is a single-player game set at Bullworth Academy, where 15-year-old Jimmy Hopkins tries to navigate school life and its social hierarchy. Rockstar lists Windows 10 64-bit as the minimum operating system, but those dated minimum specifications do not guarantee that the game will run on every modern PC. Installation and activation also require an internet connection and a Rockstar Games account.
What is Bully: Scholarship Edition?
Developed by Rockstar New England and published by Rockstar Games, the Windows release follows Jimmy Hopkins through a year at the fictional New England boarding school Bullworth Academy. The story centers on school life and its rivalries. Rockstar’s official store description puts the premise this way: “If Jimmy can survive the school year and outsmart his rivals, he could rule the school.”

Steam lists October 21, 2008, as the Windows release date. Its listing also says the digital edition includes the complete soundtrack: 26 original tracks available in the game’s Steam folder after download.
Will it run on your Windows PC?
Rockstar Games Customer Support lists the following minimum PC requirements on a page last updated May 1, 2024. They are the publisher’s stated floor, not a compatibility guarantee for a particular computer.

The listed hardware is from an older PC era. Meeting those minimums does not establish that the game works reliably on every Windows 10 PC, and the available official information does not provide a dependable Windows 11 compatibility guarantee across hardware configurations. Rockstar cautions that software changes can affect requirements, that some mobile, integrated, and AGP graphics components may be incompatible, and that unlisted specifications may not be supported. Review the Rockstar PC system requirements against your own hardware before buying.
Account, internet, and software requirements
Rockstar says installation and online play require a Rockstar Games account and an internet connection. The connection is also needed for activation and periodic entitlement verification. Its requirements page lists required software installations, including the Rockstar Games platform, DirectX, Chromium, and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package.
For the Windows DVD installation flow, the Steam-hosted English manual is useful historical documentation. It should not be treated as a substitute for current digital-store requirements.

Rockstar’s requirements and Steam’s store listing identify keyboard and mouse support; Steam also lists an Xbox 360 controller. A controller is optional, not a prerequisite. The available listings do not guarantee that every contemporary controller will work without configuration. Rockstar’s support hub lists a separate PC keyboard and mouse controls page dated September 22, 2026.

Rockstar’s support hub lists a PC-only article titled “Bully running slowly or crashing (PC Only),” dated April 9, 2024. Its summary advises setting Maximum Memory below 2000 megabytes and downloading patch version 1.200. This is Rockstar’s troubleshooting guidance, not an independently verified fix or a guarantee for every cause of poor performance or crashing.
Check the current Rockstar support hub for the relevant PC support pages and instructions. The summary-level guidance does not specify an exact menu path for the Maximum Memory setting.
Buying the Windows edition
Rockstar and Steam list the Windows game for purchase. Price and availability can change, so check the live Rockstar Store listing or Steam listing before buying. Rockstar’s store page lists content descriptors including animated blood, crude humor, language, sexual themes, alcohol, tobacco, and violence.
