Calico is software; Calico Cloud is also offered as a managed service. Ratings and comments below are snapshots of what reviewers said, not independent product tests or a guarantee of results in your environment.
What do Calico reviewers like best?
Across the reviewed G2 and Gartner feedback, recurring positives include managing Kubernetes network policies, integrating with Kubernetes environments, gaining visibility into traffic, and troubleshooting network issues. Some reviewers also describe zero-trust workload controls as a reason to consider Calico Cloud. These are customer-reported benefits; they do not establish that every capability is included in every Calico edition or that every deployment will see the same results.
One Gartner customer review says: “We’ve decided to onboard Calico Cloud to avail the rich feature set it offers. Our main goal was to implement Zero-Trust workload access control.” The reviewer is not identified by name or official role, so this is an individual customer perspective rather than an expert endorsement.
What do reviewers dislike or find challenging?
Some review excerpts point to deployment challenges and the operational work involved in hybrid or multi-cluster environments. Reviewers also express a desire for centralized management. These concerns are especially relevant if your team must coordinate policies or troubleshoot across multiple clusters; the comments do not show how common the problems are across all Calico users.

These scores come from different platforms and samples, and listing counts can change. Gartner surfaced eight product reviews, but the available evidence does not establish a comparable overall Gartner score. Do not combine the ratings into a single average or treat them as representative of every customer.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Calico worth considering for your Kubernetes environment?
Calico is worth evaluating if Kubernetes network policy, workload isolation, traffic visibility, or network troubleshooting are important problems for your team. Whether it fits depends on your architecture and on which offering you are considering: Calico Open Source and managed Calico Cloud should not be assumed to have identical capabilities, operating responsibilities, or support terms.
Quick Recap

Rank #3
- Deployment model: Decide whether your team wants to operate open-source software itself or assess a managed or enterprise offering.
- Environment fit: Check compatibility with the Kubernetes distributions, cloud environments, and cluster topology you actually use.
- Policy needs: Define the network-policy and workload-isolation controls you need, including whether zero-trust access is a goal.
- Operations: Evaluate how your team will observe traffic, troubleshoot incidents, and manage policies across clusters, particularly in hybrid environments.
- Support and terms: Confirm the support expectations, edition-specific capabilities, current price, and contract terms directly for the offering you plan to use. The review pages cited here do not establish current pricing or a complete edition feature matrix.
