Is the campaign worth playing for its story?
Takahashi’s clearest recommendation is for players drawn to a spy story that changes pace and lets missions be approached in different ways. He praised the campaign’s espionage mystery, the range of gameplay and story, and the choice between stealth and direct action. The official description likewise emphasizes varied spaces, heists, and covert activity, though those promotional details do not independently establish how well each mission works.

Internet and subscription requirements
Activision Support says a continuous internet connection is required in every mode, including Campaign, because the game uses texture streaming. The same support page says Campaign does not require a premium console multiplayer subscription service. Subscription access to the game, including through Game Pass, depends on the current plan, platform, and regional terms; check the applicable service listing before subscribing or installing.

Split-screen support
Activision documents split-screen for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but not for PlayStation 4 or Xbox One.
Physical-edition compatibility
Activision’s UK editions guidance says the PS5 physical edition works on PS5 only, while the Xbox Cross-Gen Bundle covers Xbox Series X and Xbox One. Who is Black Ops 6 best suited to?
- Campaign-first players: Takahashi’s review makes the strongest case here, praising the story and the shift between stealth and action.
- Players who want several modes: The game pairs a story campaign with competitive multiplayer and co-op Zombies rather than treating one mode as the entire package.
