How many players can play the campaign?
Activision describes the campaign as playable solo or with up to four players. In other words, four is the entire squad size—not four friends joining one host. Raven Software Lead Producer Natalie Pohorski told Xbox Wire that players can “play solo or team up in a squad of up to four players.” Activision’s reveal and the Xbox Wire interview give the official details.

What is the campaign about?
Set in 2035 after the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, the story follows David “Section” Mason and an elite JSOC team on a covert mission to Avalon. The team’s investigation brings them into conflict with Raul Menendez and The Guild, amid a threat involving psychological warfare. The campaign travels from Japan to the Mediterranean coast and into surreal psychological environments; Emma Kagan is among the new characters. How Endgame differs from the co-op campaign
Endgame is a distinct mode within the campaign experience, not a change to the four-player story-mission limit. Activision says Endgame unlocks after completing the first 11 co-op campaign missions. Its official guide lists Endgame for 1–32 players, grouped into squads of up to four. Players explore Avalon, take on dynamic assignments and escape to preserve progress. Does four-player co-op mean four-player split-screen?
No. The four-player campaign figure is not a promise of four-player local split-screen. Activision documents two-player split-screen on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5; it is not supported on Xbox One or PlayStation 4. The cited platform information does not establish four-player split-screen. See Activision’s editions and platform support information.
What you need for online co-op
- Internet: Activision says every mode, including campaign, requires a continuous internet connection.
- Console subscription: Activision’s editions page says PlayStation Plus or Game Pass Essential is required for social features and all game modes except solo campaign. Check your platform’s current rules if you plan to play co-op online.
- Platforms: The game launched on November 14, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Battle.net and Steam, with Game Pass access listed by Activision. Availability and subscription terms can change. Activision’s editions page covers access and platform requirements.
Physical-edition compatibility to check
Activision documents a physical PS5 edition that does not include cross-generation access. A PS5 disc cannot be used in a digital-only PS5, and physical editions will not work on Xbox Series S. Check the specific edition and console before buying.
