Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 launched worldwide on November 14, 2025, and is available now. Set in 2035, the game brings together a co-op campaign, multiplayer with 18 launch maps, and Round-Based Zombies starring Ashes of the Damned.
When did Black Ops 7 come out, and what is it about?
Activision released Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 worldwide on November 14, 2025. The game is set in 2035, after the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 6, and includes a co-op campaign, competitive multiplayer, and Round-Based Zombies. Activision’s launch announcement confirmed the game was live on release day.

How many multiplayer maps are there?
Activision’s launch announcement counted 18 multiplayer maps: 16 designed for 6v6 matches and two larger maps for 20v20 Skirmish. The initial August 2025 reveal described the same split, while the launch map briefing identified the two larger maps with the Skirmish mode. The formats differ in scale, not just map size: Skirmish is the 20v20 objective mode.
Nuketown 2025 was scheduled to arrive during preseason on November 20, 2025, after the initial launch map release. It should not be counted among the 18 maps Activision announced for launch.

Maps shown at Call of Duty: NEXT
Activision’s Call of Duty: NEXT recap highlighted six launch maps that were playable in the beta: Blackheart, Cortex, Exposure, Forge, Imprint, and Toshin. They are examples from the lineup, not a complete list of the 18 launch maps.
What is the Zombies map and what modes does it include?
Ashes of the Damned was the first Round-Based Zombies map available at launch on November 14, 2025. Treyarch places its story in the Dark Aether and centers it on an eight-person crew: Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya, alongside new incarnations of Dempsey, Nikolai, Takeo, and Richtofen.

The map’s signature vehicle is Ol’ Tessie, a Wonder Vehicle players can repair and upgrade as they traverse its locations. Its Wonder Weapon is the Necrofluid Gauntlet; enemies include Ravagers, Zursa, and Wraith Seeds. The map has six major locations. Four featured in the Call of Duty: NEXT recap were Janus Towers Plaza, Blackwater Lake, Vandorn Farm, and Ashwood.

Treyarch’s Zombies deep dive describes four modes for Ashes of the Damned. Standard includes the map’s main and side quests; the other options provide distinct ways to take on the experience.

Activision lists the game for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC through Xbox PC, Battle.net, and Steam. Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass were announced as launch-day access options; subscription catalogs can change, so check the current Game Pass listing before subscribing or buying.

Physical console editions have platform-specific limits. Activision Support says the PS5 physical edition plays on PS5 only, while the PS4 Cross-Gen Bundle includes a digital PS5 version. Physical editions do not work on Xbox Series S or a digital-only PS5. Check the edition and console before purchasing. Activision also states that texture streaming requires a continuous internet connection in every mode, including Campaign.
