Warzone update 1.59 launched on June 22, 2022, alongside Season Four: Mercenaries of Fortune. It added Fortune’s Keep, refreshed Caldera, and introduced new weapons and event activities, alongside weapon tuning, perk and equipment changes, interface improvements, and bug fixes. “1.59” is the version label reported by MP1st; Activision’s announcement confirms the season and launch date.
What arrived with Season Four
Activision announced the season on June 16, 2022, with the Warzone update scheduled for June 22. The season was titled Mercenaries of Fortune. Its headline additions were a new Resurgence map, a Caldera refresh, and two weapons delivered through the seasonal Battle Pass system.

Fortune’s Keep
Fortune’s Keep was a new Resurgence map developed by High Moon Studios. Activision described it as roughly the same size as Rebirth Island. The island introduced a distinct play space, with locations including Town and Smuggler’s Cove, rather than simply reworking an existing Caldera area. New activities included the Mercenary Cash Extraction public event, the Black Market Supply Run contract, and the Sequencer Grenade tactical equipment.

The Caldera refresh brought back Storage Town and added smaller points of interest, including mercenary bunkers opened with Golden Keycards. Activision described the redesign as a shift toward drier, more open terrain and altered sightlines. Patch coverage reported that vegetation was reduced by 50%.

Seasonal event and weapons
The Mercenaries of Fortune limited-time event ran from June 22 through July 7, 2022, according to the patch coverage. It offered eight challenges across Caldera and Fortune’s Keep; completing all eight awarded the gold Armored SUV skin.
The two launch weapons highlighted by Activision were the Marco 5 submachine gun and UGM-8 light machine gun. The Marco 5 was presented as a mobile close-range option, while the UGM-8 emphasized mobility, a high rate of fire, and suppressive utility. Those descriptions are launch positioning, not evidence that either weapon was objectively best.

The weapon changes also adjusted damage, recoil, movement, effective ranges, and attachments across multiple classes. The specific effects varied by weapon; a change to one gun or attachment should not be read as a general shift in which weapon was strongest.

Interface and quality-of-life changes
- Loadout crate: The selection began at the top of the list, reducing the chance of choosing an unintended loadout.
- Buy Station: A new option let players remain in the menu while making multiple purchases, and owned inventory counts appeared beside items.
The patch report also included bug fixes. Activision’s seasonal overview focused on the major content and said detailed patch notes would be published separately by Raven Software, so specific tuning details here are attributed to the patch coverage rather than to that overview.

Update 1.59 is the version designation used by MP1st in its coverage of the Modern Warfare and Warzone release. Activision’s official announcement establishes the June 22 Season Four launch and its headline content, but does not itself verify that version number. This is historical coverage of the 2022 update, not a description of Warzone’s current maps, playlists, or weapon balance.
