That event ran February 28 and March 1, 2026, so the documented way to unlock the research was a past event offer. If you already received the research, Pokémon GO says it does not expire. The official announcement does not say whether players who missed it can still obtain it or whether the event will return.
How Shiny Diancie was obtained in Pokémon GO
Ticket holders for Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global received Masterwork Research that led to an encounter with Shiny Diancie. The event page describes this as the route to the Pokémon; it does not establish a specific shiny rate or mean that buying a ticket guaranteed a shiny encounter. Pokémon GO Tour: Kalos – Global
Can you still get the research?
The global event took place February 28 and March 1, 2026. Those dates have passed. The event page says that Masterwork Research does not expire once received, so players who unlocked it can complete it later at their own pace. That is separate from unlocking the research now: the announcement does not say whether it remains available to players who missed the event or whether the offer will return.
Is Diancie shiny in other Pokémon games?
This confirmation is specific to Pokémon GO. Niantic’s guidance explains that shiny Pokémon are differently colored variants and that not every Pokémon has a shiny variant available in Pokémon GO at every given time; it points players to official event announcements for availability. What are Shiny Pokémon?
#1 Best Overall
For Pokémon Legends: Z-A, an official announcement says players can obtain Diancie by completing the extra side mission “Shine Bright like a Gemstone,” with a Diancite available through Mystery Gift. It does not confirm that this Diancie can be shiny, so that announcement cannot establish shiny availability in Legends: Z-A—or in every Pokémon game.
