Niantic has announced the regular Minior debut through the Minior Showers event series, but it has not announced a shiny release, a Minior-specific shiny rate, or what a shiny Minior looks like in Pokémon GO. The seven colors promoted for the debut are regular Minior core colors, not shiny variants.
Is shiny Minior available in Pokémon GO?
Not according to the currently documented release information. Minior enters Pokémon GO as the Meteor Pokémon during the Minior Showers series, beginning with the Orionids window on October 19, 2026. Niantic’s debut announcement describes ordinary Minior and its seven core colors, but does not say that a shiny version can be encountered.

Niantic’s Help Center cautions that not every Pokémon has an available shiny variant and directs players to official event announcements for availability. A current Pokémon GO database entry also lists Minior as “Shiny released: No.” Taken together, those sources support a straightforward answer: ordinary Minior is arriving, while shiny Minior has not been documented as released.
That status can change in a later event. A future announcement could add shiny Minior through a wild encounter, research task, raid, or another event method. Until Niantic publishes such a notice, screenshots, videos, or social posts claiming a catchable shiny Minior should be treated as unconfirmed.

When can you encounter regular Minior?
Minior is tied to recurring meteor-shower windows. During each announced shower, the game displays shooting stars from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time, and wild Minior encounters become more likely. The schedule announced for the series is:

The Orionids entry has an exact opening and closing time in the announcement. The other windows are presented as date ranges, so check the in-game event notice for the exact local start and end times shown on your account.
Which Minior colors are in Pokémon GO?
Niantic has announced seven regular Minior core colors:

These are normal color variations, not shiny forms. Seeing a yellow, blue, or violet core therefore does not indicate that the Pokémon is shiny. Each meteor shower introduces one of the core colors, and the announcement says that one color debuts in the Northern Hemisphere and another in the Southern Hemisphere during the Leonids and Geminids windows. It does not identify a shiny variant for any of those colors.

Geography matters for collecting the announced color debuts. A player in one hemisphere may see a different featured color from a player in the other hemisphere during the specified showers. That regional distribution is separate from shiny availability: a location-based color is still a regular Minior unless Niantic explicitly labels it as shiny.
What are the shiny odds for Minior?
No Minior-specific shiny odds have been published because a shiny Minior encounter has not been documented as released. There is no confirmed fraction, percentage, or encounter-rate table that can be applied to Minior at this time.
Do not use a generic figure such as 1 in 512 as Minior’s rate. Pokémon GO shiny rates can vary with the encounter source and event conditions, including whether a Pokémon is encountered in the wild, through research, in a raid, or as part of a limited event. Without an official Minior release notice that identifies the encounter method and rate, any numerical estimate would be speculation.

- Which encounter method can produce it: wild spawn, field or timed research, raid, or another event reward?
- Is the rate published for that specific method and event?
- Does the rate apply for the full Minior Showers window or only for a shorter period?
- Are all seven regular core colors available, or is a particular color restricted by hemisphere or event?
- Does the shiny treatment change the meteor shell, the exposed core, or both?
Those details would determine how many encounters a collector should realistically expect to make. Until they are announced, the only reliable goal is collecting regular Minior and its available colors.
What would shiny Minior look like?
There is no confirmed Pokémon GO shiny Minior appearance to describe or display. Niantic’s seven-color list identifies ordinary Minior cores and provides no shiny palette. Any image presented as the Pokémon GO shiny should therefore be considered unofficial unless it is shown in a Niantic announcement or a verified in-game encounter after an official release.
Minior’s normal presentation also makes appearance claims easy to misread. A player may encounter a meteor with one of the seven regular core colors, then see the core exposed during battle. Neither the color itself nor the form change proves that the Pokémon is shiny. A legitimate shiny identification will require the game’s usual shiny indicator or an official statement that the particular encounter is shiny-capable.

If Niantic adds shiny Minior, compare the appearance separately in every relevant state. The announcement may show a Minior with its meteor shell intact, while battle footage may show the exposed core. It is not safe to assume that a color difference visible in one state is identical in the other until the game demonstrates it.

How Minior’s Meteor and Core forms work
Minior has a battle-related form mechanic. It fights in Meteor Form until its health falls below 50 percent, at which point it exposes its core.
- Meteor Form: higher Defense and lower Attack.
- Exposed Core form: higher Attack and lower Defense.
At launch, the form change is limited to Team GO Rocket battles, battles against team leaders, and GO Battle League. This is a battle mechanic rather than a shiny indicator. A Minior exposing its core in one of those contexts has changed form because of its health threshold, not because it has a special color or shiny status.
The announced restriction also means that battle behavior should not be used to infer how a future shiny encounter will work. If shiny Minior is eventually released, Niantic could provide distinct shiny assets for Meteor Form and Core form, or could use one visual treatment across both. That answer is not established yet.

How to check whether a shiny release has really happened
When a new event begins, use a short verification routine instead of relying on rumor:

- Read the official event announcement. Look for an explicit statement that shiny Minior is available. A debut announcement that names only regular Minior does not establish shiny access.
- Check the event’s encounter list. Confirm whether Minior is appearing in the wild, research, raids, or another source. The encounter method matters because shiny rates can differ by method.
- Inspect the encounter screen. A regular core color is not enough. Look for the game’s shiny presentation and confirm that the Pokémon can be caught rather than merely displayed in promotional material.
- Record the event dates and local conditions. Note whether the shiny access lasts for the entire shower window, only during the 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. shooting-star period, or for a separately announced bonus.
- Compare forms and colors. If the event includes regional core-color differences, verify whether the shiny is available for every color or only the featured encounters.
This process prevents two common errors: mistaking one of the seven regular colors for a shiny, and assuming that an encounter bonus automatically includes shiny access.
What players can do before a shiny release
There is no confirmed shiny hunt to optimize yet, but the meteor-shower schedule gives collectors a practical way to prepare for regular Minior:
- Watch the in-game event timer for your local start and end times, especially for the Orionids window, which runs from October 19 at 5:00 p.m. through October 24 at 11:59 p.m. local time.
- Play during the announced 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. local shooting-star period, when wild Minior encounters are more likely.
- Track which core colors you have collected, keeping regular color variation separate from shiny status.
- If you travel or compare catches with players elsewhere, record the hemisphere because the Leonids and Geminids announcements include hemisphere-based color debuts.
- Keep battle observations separate from collection observations: Meteor Form and Core form describe combat behavior, not rarity.
These steps remain useful if shiny Minior is announced later, because they establish which colors and forms you already have. They do not, however, increase a nonexistent or unannounced shiny rate.

Regular Minior is scheduled for Pokémon GO through the Minior Showers series, with seven announced core colors and hemisphere-dependent color debuts during some meteor showers. Its Meteor Form changes to an exposed Core form below 50 percent health in the battle modes specified by Niantic.
As of October 19, 2026, shiny Minior is not documented as released. No official shiny odds or Pokémon GO shiny appearance have been announced. Treat every Minior you encounter during the showers as a regular Pokémon unless Niantic later confirms shiny availability and the game displays the corresponding shiny encounter.
