Yes, you can buy the Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon, but the October 2026 Prime event was not a reliable way to get the standalone console cheaper. In the US, Tom’s Guide’s event guide (published October 6, 2026) found no discount on the standalone Switch 2 in the offers it reviewed. In the UK, TechRadar reported a lower price on Amazon UK on October 5, 2026, at £354.99. Those are dated event snapshots, not current prices, and the event has ended. Check the live listing for your country before you buy.
Check which product you are actually buying
Amazon listings for the Switch 2 can differ in two ways that matter more than the headline price. The first is whether the listing is the standalone console or a bundle. The US event coverage centred on a Mario Kart World bundle, not the standalone unit, so a deal headline may describe a different product from the one you intended to buy. The second is the regional storefront. A UK price in pounds tells you nothing about the US listing, and the reverse is also true.

What the October 2026 event offered, by market
The two event reports cover different markets and different products, so they should not be merged into a single price.
| Market and source | Date reported | Product | Price reported | Comparison given in the source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UK, Amazon UK (TechRadar) | October 5, 2026 | Standalone Switch 2 console | £354.99, described as 15% off and the lowest price TechRadar had seen on that storefront | £395.99 launch price; £419.99 RRP after a reported prior-month rise |
| US, event guide (Tom’s Guide) | October 6, 2026 | Standalone Switch 2 console | Not discounted in the offers Tom’s Guide reviewed | Not applicable |
| US, event guide (Tom’s Guide) | October 6, 2026 | Mario Kart World bundle | $549 | Described as $37 cheaper than buying the console and game separately, which implies a separate total of $586 |
The UK figure is the only standalone-console discount in the reviewed coverage. Its validity ended with the event, and it applied to the UK storefront only.

Launch prices are history, not today’s price
Nintendo’s US announcement set the Switch 2 launch date as June 5, 2025, with a suggested retail price of $449.99 for the standalone console. The original Mario Kart World bundle was $499.99 and included a download code for the game. These figures show what the hardware first cost in the US. They do not show what it costs now, because later price changes have occurred and regional prices differ. Use them only as a reference point against the current local list price.
Game discounts during the event
TechRadar’s US deal roundup (October 7, 2026) listed Switch 2 game offers from the same event. Pokémon Legends: Z-A Nintendo Switch 2 Edition was shown at $39.99, down from $69.99. Mario Tennis Fever was shown at $49.99, down from $69.99. These were event prices. Do not assume they remain in place after the event ended.

Accessories and storage to check before you buy
- Switch 2 Pro Controller: a separate purchase if you want a controller other than the Joy-Con set.
- Carrying case: sold separately; check that it is listed for the Switch 2 and not the original Switch.
- microSD Express storage: the Switch 2 uses microSD Express cards. Ordinary microSD cards are not the right expansion option, so confirm the card type before buying.
How to check the live Amazon listing
- Open the Amazon storefront for the country where you live and search for the Nintendo Switch 2.
- Confirm the product title. If it names a game or says Bundle, it is not the standalone console.
- Check the seller and fulfilment. An item sold by a third party and fulfilled by a third party carries different return and stock risks from one sold and shipped by Amazon.
- Check stock and delivery dates on the product page at the moment you buy, not from an earlier article.
- Compare the price with the current local list price from Nintendo’s regional store and with the bundle’s separate-purchase total before you decide.
Should you buy now or wait?
If you need the standalone console, the October event is not evidence that a discount will return soon. Buy when a live listing shows a price you can verify against the local list price and a seller you trust. If you want the Mario Kart World bundle, compare its current price with the cost of the console and the game bought separately, using the local prices on the day you buy. If a price rise or a drop is reported after this article, treat it as a new snapshot and check it the same way.
