If you think enforcement was applied by mistake, Bandai Namco’s US online-services terms direct you to contact customer service, but do not promise a reversal. If you are on PC and only see “Inappropriate activity detected,” check your game files: that message can appear without cheating, according to Bandai Namco’s Patch 1.16 notes.
Is the 180-day ban an official, universal duration?
The official Elden Ring online-service terms reviewed describe possible enforcement measures, including warnings, deletion of recorded data, temporary suspension, and permanent suspension. They do not specify a universal 180-day restriction. Players use “180-day ban” in community reports, but those reports do not establish a current official duration that applies across platforms or cases. Read the Elden Ring online-service terms; the phrase also appears in a community post asking where to check ban status, which is anecdotal rather than an official account-status guide.

What to do if you see “Inappropriate activity detected” on PC
A warning message is not the same thing as confirmation that an online restriction has been applied. Bandai Namco’s Patch 1.16 notes state that the PC message “Inappropriate activity detected” may appear without cheating and recommend verifying the integrity of the game files before restarting. The note gives this as troubleshooting for the message; it does not say verification removes a confirmed restriction.
- In your game library, open Elden Ring’s properties and use your platform’s option to verify the integrity of the game files.
- Wait for the file check or repair to finish, then restart the game as the patch note recommends.
See Bandai Namco’s Patch Notes Version 1.16 for the official wording. The note addresses the PC version, not every platform or every type of enforcement.

- Collaborating with George R.R. Martin to create the ELDEN RING mythos has been a genuinely delightful experience and a source of wonderful inspiration. The team is working hard to ensure that the world of ELDEN RING will be a fascinating place for players to explore, filled with peril and wonder from its furthest reaches to its lowest depths. This is a FromSoftware title through and through, rich in fantasy and RPG action. We sincerely hope you look forward to it.
- Building the world of ELDEN RING with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat! The graphics, mythos, and action-RPG gameplay will deliver an unforgettable experience. I can’t wait for people to see what ELDEN RING has in store for them.” Said George R.R. Martin.
How to contact Bandai Namco if you believe enforcement was mistaken
Bandai Namco Entertainment America’s online-services terms say: “If You believe that any action has been taken against You in error, please contact BNEA ‘s Customer Service Department.” This is general US terms language, not an Elden Ring-specific appeal procedure or a promise that customer service will reverse a restriction.
Use the Bandai Namco Entertainment America online-services terms as the cited route. Explain what you are seeing and why you believe it is an error; avoid treating a community-reported duration as an officially verified status or deadline.

Why bypass tools and evasion are not a supported fix
The Elden Ring online-service terms say Easy Anti-Cheat is used to prevent specified cheating-related conduct and describe monitoring hardware, analyzing game binaries, and scanning hardware memory for cheat detection and prevention. That is the publisher’s description of its system, not independent technical testing. The terms also list temporary or permanent suspension among possible enforcement measures. Nothing in the reviewed official material endorses evading those measures, and a purported bypass is not an approved route to restore online access.
For the dated update context, Bandai Namco’s Patch 1.17 page, dated August 27, 2026, lists PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam among the platforms targeted by that update. This identifies platforms for that update; it does not guarantee a particular restriction or appeal process for every current platform or account. See the Patch Notes Version 1.17 page.
