Why Cobblemon does not work on Nintendo Switch
The Nintendo Switch version of Minecraft is Bedrock Edition. Cobblemon’s official installation guide says the mod is not available for Bedrock Edition, and there is no Switch installation procedure in that guide. The Java mod cannot be made to run on Switch by changing a Minecraft setting or buying a Bedrock Marketplace item. Minecraft’s edition guide identifies Switch as a Bedrock platform; Cobblemon’s installation guide describes its Java Edition setup.

Independent Bedrock port projects may exist, but they are unofficial and do not establish support for Nintendo Switch or compatibility with the Switch Marketplace. Do not treat them as a way to install the official mod on Switch.
How to play Cobblemon on a computer
- Get access to Minecraft Java Edition on a compatible computer. Minecraft’s PC listing describes the Java & Bedrock Edition for computer; a Switch copy does not turn the Switch game into Java Edition.
- Open the Cobblemon installation guide and choose one of its listed launcher instructions: Modrinth App, Prism Launcher, or CurseForge.
- Match the Minecraft version and mod loader specified in the guide when you install. The Cobblemon site and guide currently identify Minecraft 1.21.1 and Fabric or NeoForge; these details can change, so use the guide’s current instructions rather than relying on an older setup.
- Launch the configured Java Edition instance from the launcher you selected. This runs Cobblemon on the computer, not on the Nintendo Switch.
Support limits to know
Minecraft Support says, “As modding is not officially supported, Minecraft Support cannot assist with issues arising from mod usage.” That is Minecraft Support’s general position on Java Edition mods; for Cobblemon installation guidance, use the project’s own documentation.
