No—the August 27 free-play deadline and the associated Steam discount were part of a promotion in 2024, and both have expired. Steam ran a separate Diablo IV free trial in September 2026, but that ended on September 21. Check your regional Steam store page for any current price or offer before buying.
What was the August 27 free-play offer?
Wowhead reported on August 22, 2024 that Diablo IV would be free to play on Steam through August 27. Its article also described a 40% discount available through September 2, 2024. Those dates and the discount belong to that 2024 promotion; they are not a current offer. Wowhead’s August 2024 report documents the original terms.

Was there a later Steam free trial?
Yes. Steam’s September 2026 announcement described a separate Diablo IV free trial through September 21 at 10 a.m. PT. It included all classes, but progression was capped at level 30. The trial has ended. Steam’s Diablo IV community announcements carry the trial information. SteamDB separately recorded the package expiry as September 21, 2026 at 17:00 UTC; SteamDB notes that it is not affiliated with Valve or Steam. SteamDB’s package records provide that corroborating timestamp.
Is Diablo IV discounted on Steam now?
A Steam store snapshot showed a 75% discount, reducing the displayed price from $49.99 to $12.49, with the offer ending September 24, 2026. That was a past sale, not a verified price for October 8, 2026. Steam prices and offers can vary by region and time, so the snapshot cannot establish what you will pay now. Check the Diablo IV Steam store page for your region for the live price, edition, discount, and end date.

What to check before buying
- Price and sale deadline: Use the price and end date currently shown in your regional Steam store, not an old promotion or search snapshot.
- Edition and included content: Confirm the edition and its listed contents on the store page; the historical trial and sale information does not establish current edition details.
- Platform and account: Make sure you are buying the Steam version and review the store’s current requirements and account information.
- Trial limits: The September 2026 trial was limited to level 30. Do not assume that trial access remains available or that a later offer will carry over progress under the same terms.
