Yes, but not as a PS5 game. A community-made homebrew app reportedly lets owners of jailbroken PS5 consoles stream supported titles from Xbox Cloud Gaming. Its author says it can stream Gears of War: E-Day, but the app is unofficial, its performance claims have not been independently verified, and it requires Game Pass access. Xbox’s listed native platforms for E-Day are Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC—not PS5.
What “playable on PS5” means here
The workaround described by app author RafaelNGP is cloud streaming, not a port or a way to install Gears of War: E-Day as a native PS5 game. The app, called PSBox Cloud Gaming, is described as a homebrew Xbox Cloud Gaming client for jailbroken PS5 consoles. The game runs through the cloud service; the PS5 is used to access and control the stream. The app announcement is at RafaelNGP’s October 7, 2026 post.

Microsoft lists E-Day for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC in its Xbox Store listing. Xbox Wire’s October 1, 2026 launch article also says cloud gaming is available through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. Those official cloud routes are distinct from the PS5 homebrew app.

What the homebrew app author reports
RafaelNGP says the client supports streaming at up to 1080p60 with sound and lets players use a DualSense as an Xbox controller. The author reports testing it on one PS5 running system software 13.60. These are the author’s claims, not independently measured results: the available report does not establish latency, network conditions, testing across multiple consoles, or compatibility with other firmware versions.

That narrow test report matters. It does not show that the app works on every PS5, or that every game in the cloud catalog will run reliably through it. Stream quality and responsiveness also depend on the cloud service and connection, and the post does not provide measurements that would support a performance guarantee.

PPSA99810folder to/data/homebrew/. - Launch the app through a homebrew loader.
- Follow the on-screen Microsoft account linking process and enter the sign-in code.
The author says account information is stored in PPSA99810/account.json and warns users not to share that file. These are the author’s instructions; the package and installation process are not independently verified here. Consider the account-file warning before using the app, and do not share a file that may contain account information.

Game access and official ways to play
The homebrew author says a Game Pass subscription is required for the client, writing, “You NEED xbox game pass subscription to play!” That is the author’s statement, not an official Microsoft description of the PS5 app. Xbox’s store listing says the game is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass; Xbox Wire names Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW as cloud options. Plan eligibility and regional availability can change, so check the relevant service’s current listing for your location.

Xbox gives October 6, 2026 as the release date and identifies The Coalition as developer and Xbox Game Studios as publisher. Its US store listing shows the Standard Edition at $69.99 and the Premium Edition at $99.99; prices and editions may vary by region and change over time. A purchase listing is for the Xbox/PC game and does not itself provide the PS5 streaming workaround.
What kind of game is E-Day?
Microsoft describes Gears of War: E-Day as an origin story set fourteen years before the first Gears of War. It follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago as the Locust Horde emerges on Sera. The official listing describes a third-person cover shooter with solo play, two-player split-screen on console, online co-op for up to four players, Horde Siege PvE, and Versus PvP. Those are game features; they do not establish which modes or controls are supported through the PS5 homebrew client.

Is the PS5 workaround the right option?
The homebrew route is relevant if you specifically want to stream through a jailbroken PS5 and are comfortable following unofficial setup instructions. If you want an officially listed platform, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC are the straightforward choices; Xbox Wire also identifies cloud access through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. The community app adds a separate compatibility and setup layer, and its reported single-console test is not evidence of broad PS5 support.
