Yes: Nintendo Support now documents a way to move Pokémon from GBA game save data into Pokémon HOME using the HOME app on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. The process does not require the old Pal Park route, but Pokémon moved from FireRed or LeafGreen cannot be sent back to those games. Nintendo’s instructions do not identify the specific new release behind the announcement or list every supported GBA game.

How to move GBA Pokémon into Pokémon HOME

Nintendo’s documented process takes place in Pokémon HOME on a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2. Its instructions do not say to insert a physical GBA cartridge into the console.

  1. Open Pokémon HOME on Nintendo Switch or Switch 2.
  2. Choose GBA games.
  3. Select the game and save data you want to use.
  4. Select a box to transfer Pokémon from.

Pokémon in your party cannot be transferred, according to Nintendo Support. Move the Pokémon you want into a box before starting.

What happens after a transfer

A transfer from FireRed or LeafGreen into HOME is one-way: Nintendo says those Pokémon cannot be transferred back to either of those GBA games. Treat the move as permanent for those source games, not as a temporary way to store Pokémon while continuing the same save.

HOME is not a universal onward destination. A Pokémon can move from HOME only to games compatible with that Pokémon; check its compatible-games list in HOME before deciding where to send it. Nintendo’s compatibility FAQ explains that compatibility depends on the Pokémon and destination game.

Do you need Pokémon Bank or Premium?

The GBA-game selection is described as a console HOME feature. Nintendo distinguishes the console and mobile versions of HOME, and its FAQ says a Premium Plan is not required for transfers between compatible game save data on console. That statement does not mean every game or Pokémon is compatible; check the specific destination before moving anything.

Pokémon Bank is a separate service path, not a stated requirement for the direct GBA-game procedure. Nintendo’s Bank service notice says Bank-to-HOME transfers will stop when Bank ends service and advises users to move Pokémon before then. The notice passage does not give an end date.

How this differs from the old Pal Park route

The newly documented HOME workflow and Pal Park are different generations of migration, with different hardware and destinations. Nintendo’s historical Pokémon Platinum manual describes Pal Park as a way to migrate Pokémon from a GBA Pokémon title into Pokémon Platinum; it requires the National Pokédex. That requirement belongs to the Pal Park route, not the current HOME instructions.

Which GBA games are supported?

Nintendo’s instructions reviewed here establish the menu path but do not provide a complete list of supported GBA titles. They also do not establish the headline’s specific new-release name or launch date. Check the current game choices displayed in Pokémon HOME rather than assuming that every GBA Pokémon game is supported.
