Nintendo does have a separate game called Guitar, and Fortnite Festival offers a current rhythm-game alternative, but neither is Guitar Hero. If you want to use a guitar controller, check compatibility for its exact model and platform before buying or connecting it.
Is Guitar Hero available on Nintendo Switch?
Activision’s classic-game FAQ describes compatibility for older Guitar Hero releases, including platform-specific details for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii versions of Guitar Hero: World Tour. It does not list Nintendo Switch. The official materials reviewed therefore do not identify an official Switch release.
Activision’s instrument guidance is about those legacy games and consoles, not Switch. It says, “To get the best experience with your Guitar Hero game, you should only use Guitar Hero branded instruments,” but that advice does not confirm that a Guitar Hero guitar works on Switch.
What is the Switch game called Guitar?
Nintendo lists Sabec’s Guitar for Switch. It is a separate music-learning app, not a Guitar Hero entry. Nintendo’s product description says it uses touchscreen and Joy-Con controls and includes novice, learn, and compose modes.

What can you play instead on Switch?
Fortnite Festival Main Stage
Fortnite is available on Nintendo Switch, and Epic describes Festival Main Stage as a music rhythm experience where players perform songs and select instruments. It is a current Switch option for rhythm-game play, but it is not Guitar Hero.
Epic says guitar controllers can be used for Pro Lead and Pro Bass in Festival generally. The cited controller guidance does not establish which guitar controllers work with the Switch version. Confirm support for the exact controller and platform rather than assuming a legacy Guitar Hero guitar will work.

Festival modes and availability
Epic says Festival continues, but Battle Stage went offline on April 16, 2026. For Festival play, look at Main Stage or Jam Stage rather than expecting Battle Stage to be available. See Epic’s Festival information for current mode details.
Can a Guitar Hero guitar or adapter make it work?
The reviewed official sources do not verify a guitar, receiver, or adapter that enables official Guitar Hero play on Switch. Older instrument compatibility is specific to the game and console version: for example, Activision’s FAQ describes different instrument support for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Wii versions of World Tour. Those details do not transfer to Switch.

Before buying used hardware, match the exact guitar model, console version, receiver or dongle, and game. An adapter’s general claim of compatibility is not proof that it supports a particular Guitar Hero controller in a particular Switch game.

Clone Hero is a computer-based alternative whose community documentation lists support for keyboards, gamepads, guitar controllers, and drums. Compatibility varies by controller type, and some are unsupported; connection requirements also differ. It is not a Switch workaround, so it is an option only if you have access to a computer and a compatible controller.
