Yes, Castle Doom is described as supporting multiplayer runs, and successful runs can unlock items that persist for future attempts. Whether you can save an unfinished run, quit, and resume it later has not been confirmed. As of October 30, 2026, Castle Doom is an upcoming run-based mode in the separate, paid The Siege of Castle Doom DLC, scheduled for November 10. It has not launched, so mode-specific details may still change.
What is Castle Doom, and is it officially called a roguelike?
Castle Doom is a run-based mode set in Doctor Doom’s fortress. Its goal is to stop the Cosmic Inductor while managing escalating threats, choosing routes and building up your heroes during an attempt. The October 26, 2026, publisher and developer descriptions explain a run structure with variable encounters and lasting unlocks; they do not establish “roguelike” as the mode’s official label.

1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsCalling it a roguelike mode is understandable shorthand for the format, but the distinction matters when asking what persists. Some choices and effects belong to a particular attempt; other rewards are described as permanent unlocks for later attempts. In other words, “permanent progression” here means specific new options become available in future runs—not that every boost, resource or build carries over.
Castle Doom is not the existing Arcade mode, nor is it a feature that was already live on October 30. It is part of The Siege of Castle Doom, a premium DLC announced for Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The DLC also adds Doctor Doom and the Invisible Woman as playable characters.

Does Castle Doom support co-op?
Yes. Tribute Games level designer Kevin Chiasson describes multiplayer runs in Castle Doom, including perks applied to individual heroes and coordinated builds. The available descriptions do not specify one player cap that can be confidently applied to this mode on every platform.
The publisher separately advertises local and online drop-in/drop-out play for the base game. Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing specifies one to four players locally or online for that edition of the base game. Those are useful signs of the wider game’s co-op setup, but they are not a verified Castle Doom-specific limit for every platform. In particular, the Switch 2 listing should not be read as proof of the mode’s player count on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, or other Switch editions.
In multiplayer, players can develop their heroes’ builds individually. Chiasson also says the mode includes an MVP statistics display that highlights effective players in a run. That gives the co-op structure a team-planning element, rather than simply putting multiple players into an otherwise identical solo attempt. Players may need to consider how individual perks complement one another, though the published descriptions do not spell out a required party composition or a specific division of roles.
For a practical comparison, local and online co-op are both advertised for the base game, while multiplayer runs are specifically described for Castle Doom. The mode’s exact local-versus-online options and player cap by platform remain details to verify when the DLC is available. Drop-in/drop-out support for the base game is helpful context, but it is not a separate confirmation that a Castle Doom run can be joined or left at any point without affecting that run.
What is confirmed—and what is not?
- Confirmed: The developer describes Castle Doom multiplayer runs and individual hero perks.
- Confirmed for the base game: The publisher advertises local and online drop-in/drop-out co-op; Nintendo’s Switch 2 listing gives a one-to-four-player count for that edition.
- Not established: A Castle Doom player cap for every platform, or whether every platform supports the same local and online combinations in this mode.
What happens during a Castle Doom run?
Players move through Doctor Doom’s fortress to reach the showdown and stop the Cosmic Inductor. Encounters build Reed Richards’ Stabilizer, while the Siege Gauge increases the danger. Dotemu says an attempt ends if the gauge fills before the showdown, so route and encounter choices are part of managing the run’s risk. The goal is therefore not just to collect upgrades: players also have to make progress toward the showdown before the threat gauge reaches its limit.
Along the way, players face Doom Bots, choose paths, and take on challenges. Challenges can provide Battery Cells, which are used to select buffs, but a failed challenge can impose a debuff. The developer’s description identifies five kinds of themed doors, each offering a different sort of choice:

- Equipment: Special powers.
- Events: Temporary rule changes that can bring bonuses or penalties.
- Heal: A healing opportunity.
- Infinite: Ammunition or focus.
- Progression: A random amount of Battery Cells.
These doors make route choice more than a simple question of which fight comes next: a player may be choosing between a chance to heal, a source of resources, or a rule-changing event with possible upside or downside. The descriptions do not provide the odds or exact values for those choices, so they should be understood as different categories of run decision rather than guaranteed rewards.
Dotemu’s October 26 mode reveal describes 12 different perks across defensive, damage-focused and tactical uses. That is the number of available perk options, not a claim that all 12 appear in a single run. Chiasson describes Offense, Defense and Tactical branches, with perks applied to heroes individually. Route decisions and the Siege Gauge shape the attempt, while perks and resources influence how a team handles what comes next. Battery Cells are part of the attempt’s decision-making; the announcements do not say that a given balance is retained after a run.
Chiasson also compared the forthcoming DLC’s encounter count with the main game, describing more than five times as many encounters. That is a developer comparison about the mode’s content, not an independently tested count, a promise that every encounter appears in one attempt, or an estimate of how long a run will take.
Do you keep anything after a run?
Yes, the publisher explicitly says successful runs can permanently unlock equipment and events from Reed’s Lab, as well as modifiers for future attempts. Chiasson also says completing a run unlocks a new hero color palette. The descriptions do not promise that every failed run grants lasting rewards.

This is separate from the temporary choices made along the way. Battery Cells, perks, event effects, and route decisions are described as part of the run’s build and progression; the announcements do not say that a particular perk carries into the next attempt. Treat the confirmed persistent rewards as unlocks that successful runs add for future play, not as a guarantee that every resource or build choice survives the end of a run.
The important qualifier is “successful runs.” Dotemu connects permanent Reed’s Lab equipment, events and modifiers to successful attempts. The description does not spell out whether a run must end in a particular way to count as successful, or what a failed attempt might award. Similarly, the new color palette is tied by Chiasson to completing a run; no specific hero palette or alternate requirement is identified. Don’t assume that simply starting a run, collecting Battery Cells, or reaching a certain room permanently unlocks those rewards.

Run choices versus lasting unlocks
| Type of progress | What the announcements establish |
|---|---|
| Choices and effects during an attempt | Routes, Battery Cells, perks, temporary events and challenge outcomes shape that run. |
| Rewards for future attempts | Dotemu says successful runs can permanently unlock Reed’s Lab equipment, events and modifiers. |
| Hero customization | Chiasson says completing a run unlocks a new hero color palette. |
| Rewards for a failed attempt | Not specified in the October 26 mode descriptions. |
That distinction is the clearest answer to “Do you keep anything?” You can expect the specific permanent unlocks described for successful runs to remain available in future attempts. You should not assume that temporary perks, resources, or an unfinished build are permanent account upgrades unless a later mode explanation confirms it.
Can you save an unfinished run and resume later?
That has not been confirmed. The publisher’s and developer’s Castle Doom descriptions explain lasting unlocks from successful runs, but do not say whether you can save, quit, and resume an unfinished attempt.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Cloud-save support does not answer this mode-specific question. Steam advertises Steam Cloud, and Nintendo advertises Save Data Cloud, but neither statement establishes Castle Doom checkpoints or mid-run resume. A cloud save can concern the broader game save without confirming that a run can be suspended and continued. It would be inaccurate to treat the absence of a resume promise as proof that all progress is deleted when you exit.
For now, separate the two meanings of “save”: permanent unlocks from successful runs are confirmed; saving an in-progress attempt and returning to it later is an open question. The mode had not launched as of October 30, 2026, so this behavior may only become clear with a later official explanation or after release. If you need to know whether a long attempt can be paused across sessions, look specifically for wording about leaving and resuming a Castle Doom run—not simply a platform’s cloud-save feature.
Is Castle Doom included with the base game?
Castle Doom is announced as premium DLC, so owning the base game is not the same as owning the mode. The announcements distinguish The Siege of Castle Doom from the base game. They do not establish a DLC price or say that every base-game edition includes the add-on.
Physical Standard and Deluxe editions of the base game were announced for Switch, Switch 2 and PS5. The Deluxe physical edition includes the game, a SteelBook, poster, 15 art cards and stickers. Those are base-game edition details; they are not evidence that Castle Doom is bundled with either physical edition. Check the specific DLC and edition listing for your platform before buying if the mode is your reason for purchasing. The physical editions were announced earlier in 2026, while Castle Doom is a separate November DLC; the packaging details should not be treated as a promise that the add-on comes in the box.

The DLC is announced for Steam, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 4 and 5, and Xbox Series X|S. The announcements do not give a price, bundle entitlement, or a platform-by-platform purchase process. Confirm the add-on name and platform in the relevant store rather than assuming a base-game purchase includes it.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What details should players wait to verify?
Because Castle Doom was still upcoming on October 30, the available descriptions leave several practical details unresolved. The most important are the exact player limits by platform, whether a suspended run can be resumed, and whether failed attempts grant any permanent rewards. Dotemu had scheduled the DLC for November 10, 2026; the October 26 announcements are the basis for the details above, not a report from a released mode.
- Look for a Castle Doom-specific player count rather than assuming the base game’s Switch 2 listing applies everywhere.
- Look for explicit wording about quitting and resuming a run; general cloud-save support is not enough to establish it.
- Distinguish rewards for a successful run from any unannounced reward system for failure.
- Confirm that the product listing is for The Siege of Castle Doom DLC, rather than a physical or digital base-game edition.
These are verification points, not evidence that the feature or reward is absent. A later official update could clarify them, and the details may be easier to establish once the DLC launches. Until then, the reliable distinction is straightforward: multiplayer and persistent rewards from successful runs have been described, while a specific Castle Doom resume system and universal player limit have not.

Which characters are being added with The Siege of Castle Doom?
Doctor Doom and the Invisible Woman are announced as playable additions in the DLC. Their announcement does not by itself establish when each character becomes playable within a Castle Doom run.
Can you save a Castle Doom run halfway through?
That has not been confirmed. Steam Cloud and Nintendo Save Data Cloud are advertised for their respective platforms, but those listings do not establish that an unfinished Castle Doom attempt can be resumed.
Does every run permanently unlock rewards?
No such guarantee is stated. Dotemu ties permanent Reed’s Lab equipment, events and modifiers to successful runs. The October 26 descriptions do not specify permanent rewards for failed attempts.
Is Castle Doom part of the base game?
No. It is part of the separately announced premium The Siege of Castle Doom DLC. Physical Standard and Deluxe editions of the base game were announced, but their listed contents do not establish that the DLC is included.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Castle Doom is an upcoming paid, run-based DLC mode with multiplayer runs and permanent unlocks for successful attempts. The precise Castle Doom player cap and the ability to save and resume an unfinished run are still unconfirmed as of October 30, 2026.
