What Far Cry 4 co-op lets you do
Ubisoft describes co-op as a second player joining or leaving the host’s game while both players explore Kyrat. The mode is called “Guns for Hire” in Ubisoft’s 2014 explanation: friends can roam the world and take on enemies together. That description supports open-world co-op, not shared completion of the main campaign’s story missions.

Ubisoft’s 2014 post also says players receive experience and in-game cash while playing together. It does not spell out all progression rules or explain what the guest retains after leaving, so do not assume that every story objective or save state carries over between players.
How to join a friend’s open world
Both players need access to Far Cry 4 on a supported platform. To invite or join, use the game’s in-game or platform network invite flow. The official descriptions establish drop-in/drop-out co-op, but do not provide a current, platform-by-platform menu path or confirm a universal unlock step; exact controls and availability can depend on platform and online services.

What was Keys to Kyrat?
Keys to Kyrat was a historical PlayStation offer, not a confirmed current way around the game’s access requirements. A legacy PlayStation Store listing said an owner could invite up to 10 PSN friends who did not own the game for up to two hours of co-op, and that online multiplayer required PlayStation Plus. Ubisoft described the offer as PlayStation-exclusive in 2014. Current availability of the feature is not verified, so check the game and platform’s current options rather than relying on the old trial invitation.
