To advance your Minecraft world by one complete day, enter /time add 24000 with commands enabled. A Minecraft day is 24,000 ticks, according to the community-maintained Minecraft Wiki. Use /time add to move time forward; /time set instead assigns a time value.
Enable commands for your world
The command requires permission to use cheats or commands. Mojang’s commands guide explains how to enable them. In Bedrock single-player, turn on Allow Cheats in the world settings. In Java single-player, enable Allow Commands when creating the world. On a server, you may need operator permissions.

Advance the day count by one
- Open the chat or command input.
- Enter
/time add 24000and run the command. In Bedrock and versions using the traditional syntax, this adds 24,000 ticks to the world clock, advancing it by one day. The Minecraft Wiki’s time-command reference identifies 24,000 ticks as one Minecraft day. - In Bedrock, enter
/time query dayto check the day count. Microsoft’s Bedrock/timecommand reference lists this query.
Java Edition 26.1 syntax
Java Edition 26.1 documents a clock-aware command form: time [of <clock>] add <time>. For the ordinary day/night cycle, use the Overworld clock if the installed version offers that clock option. This syntax is specific to Java 26.1; older Java versions may use the traditional form. If the command differs, use the in-game command suggestions for your version. Use “add” to advance time, not “set”
/time add 24000 advances the existing clock by a duration. A set command assigns a time value instead, so it is not the right choice when you simply want to move the current world forward by one day. Bedrock’s command reference treats add and set as separate operations. Mojang’s Bedrock 1.17.30 release notes illustrate that distinction: /time set 0 sets day 0, while /time set 28000 sets day 1.
