When did the FIFA 20 closed beta run?
A retrospective FIFA U Team guide reports that invitations were scheduled for August 8, 2019, and the beta began on August 9 at 5 p.m. UK time. It ended on August 21, 2019. The guide says players could not access it after the test period closed.

Those dates describe a past test, not a recurring enrollment window. Signing up for EA emails or Playtesting now cannot reopen FIFA 20’s beta.
How did players get a FIFA 20 beta invite code?
Codes were distributed to selected players by email; access was not open to everyone. The retrospective guide says selected FIFA players in the US and UK who had opted in to EA email communications received invitations at the address linked to their EA Account. This is historical reporting about the 2019 test, not a current application process.

EA’s current general closed-beta guidance says places are limited and selection is restricted. EA advisors cannot issue a replacement code to someone who was not selected. For other active tests, EA advises players to opt in to email communications and register for EA Playtesting; selected participants receive further instructions and a code by email. Those steps do not grant access to the expired FIFA 20 beta.
Which platforms and modes were included?
The retrospective guide lists PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as the beta platforms; it says the test was not available on PC, Nintendo Switch, or mobile. Each invitation included Kick-Off and one additional mode, rather than access to every mode:

The guide also reports that the test was English-only, required a download larger than 34 GB, and that beta progress did not carry over to the final game. These are details reported by a secondary retrospective source, rather than preserved official FIFA 20 beta documentation.

No. EA’s current advice about opting in to emails and registering for EA Playtesting applies to other active tests; it is not a route into FIFA 20’s closed beta. EA also recommends linking an EA Account to the console or platform chosen for a Playtest or beta to help prevent access issues, but that does not restore access to a test that has ended.

Buying a physical copy of FIFA 20, a console, a controller, or a guide does not provide beta permissions. EA’s historical article reported that the full FIFA 20 release later joined EA Access and Origin Access, but that was separate from the closed beta, and subscription availability may have changed. A copy or subscription for the full game should not be confused with an invitation to the 2019 test.
