Yes. Fallen Village remains accessible after you leave. Once fast travel is available, use the lantern network to return to a Fallen Village lantern. You can also walk back through the region’s connected paths and shortcuts. Leaving the village does not permanently lock its collectibles, quests, or other side content.
Fast-travel destinations are easiest to use after the Chapter 2 boss. Lantern checkpoints exist earlier, but the fast-travel menu does not display their names until that point. Free roam continues after the ending, so you can return to Fallen Village and every other area for cleanup.

What happens when you leave Fallen Village?
Leaving Fallen Village is not a one-way story transition. The area remains part of the explorable world, and later routes deliberately pass back through it. You can revisit its Fields and Marketplace areas, use previously reached lanterns, and return for unfinished objectives.
The chapter walkthroughs for Valor Mortis explicitly state that everything required for trophies and 100% completion is included, that nothing is missable, and that all areas can be revisited. In practical terms, you do not need to restart your save because you left the village before collecting an item or completing a side activity.

There are two ways to get back:
- Fast travel: travel between the lantern network’s available destinations.
- Physical backtracking: retrace connected paths and use shortcuts through the region.
Both methods are useful. Fast travel saves time, while walking can put you back on a route where a shortcut, collectible, or newly relevant interaction is located.
When does fast travel unlock?
The important timing distinction is between reaching lanterns and seeing their names in the fast-travel menu.
Lantern checkpoints exist before the menu is fully useful
Lanterns appear as checkpoints earlier in the game. They support the game’s travel and respawn structure, so reaching one gives you a known point to return to. However, the Chapter 1 guide notes that the fast-travel menu does not show lantern names until after the Chapter 2 boss.
The named destination list appears after the Chapter 2 boss
After defeating the Chapter 2 boss, the lantern network becomes practical for deliberate area-to-area travel because the destinations are named in the menu. A Chapter 3 walkthrough begins with the instruction, “Now that you have access to fast travel, return to the very first lantern.” That route confirms that the game expects you to use fast travel to revisit an earlier point rather than treating the opening area as permanently closed.
If you are still in the early chapters and cannot find “Fallen Village” as a named destination, that does not mean the village is gone. You may simply be before the point at which the menu labels become visible.

How to fast-travel back to Fallen Village
Use the following sequence once the post-Chapter 2 fast-travel system is available:
- Reach a lantern. Use a lantern checkpoint in your current area. If you are already near Fallen Village, you can also approach the relevant village lantern on foot.
- Open the lantern’s travel interface. Select the option that uses the lantern network rather than choosing only the respawn function.
- Find a Fallen Village destination. After the Chapter 2 boss, lantern names are displayed, making it possible to identify the village destination instead of selecting blindly.
- Choose the appropriate village lantern. Fallen Village includes routes through areas such as the Fields and Marketplace. Select the destination that best matches the objective you are pursuing.
- Resume from that checkpoint. You arrive at the selected lantern and can continue on foot from there, including through shortcuts and connected paths.
The Chapter 6 route specifically returns to the Fallen Village Marketplace lantern for later quest and collectible cleanup. That makes the Marketplace lantern a useful target when your objective is located in or around that part of the village, rather than simply choosing the first available checkpoint.
Fast travel versus walking back
Neither method replaces the other. The right choice depends on whether you are trying to save time or inspect the route itself.
| Method | Availability and evidence | Main advantage | Best use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lantern fast travel | Lantern checkpoints exist earlier; named destinations appear after the Chapter 2 boss | Quickly moves you to a known checkpoint | Returning to Fallen Village for a specific quest, collectible, or cleanup route |
| Walking and shortcuts | Used in the Chapter 3 route through connected areas | Lets you retrace the physical route and use regional shortcuts | Checking side paths, re-entering Fields or Marketplace, or following an objective that begins between lanterns |
| Post-story free roam | Confirmed after completing the story | Keeps every area available for cleanup | Collectibles, trophies, and side content left until after the ending |
Fast travel is the efficient option when you already know where you need to go. Walking is preferable when you are unsure whether you passed a shortcut or when your route requires several connected spaces rather than a single lantern destination.
Where backtracking takes you in Fallen Village
Fields
The Chapter 3 route revisits the Fields after fast travel becomes available. This is evidence that the area remains part of the normal progression and is not merely an opening zone that disappears after the first visit. If a later objective points toward the Fields, follow the route from the relevant lantern or walk through the regional connection.

Marketplace
The Marketplace is another repeat destination. The Chapter 3 route passes through it, and the Chapter 6 route returns to the Fallen Village Marketplace lantern for later quests and collectible cleanup. If your checklist points to the Marketplace, selecting that lantern is more direct than starting from an unrelated checkpoint and retracing the entire approach.

Shortcuts between checkpoints
The Chapter 3 walkthrough includes a shortcut back to a prior lantern. Shortcuts matter because the fastest physical route is not always the original route you used during the first visit. When walking back, look for the already-established connection rather than assuming you must repeat every early-game section in full.
Can you return after beating the game?
Yes. The trophy roadmap confirms that free roam continues after the story and that you can return everywhere to clean up missing collectibles and side content. The ending therefore does not create a point of no return for Fallen Village.
Post-story cleanup is especially useful if you prefer to finish the main narrative first. You can complete the ending, resume free roam, travel to a Fallen Village lantern, and work through the remaining objectives without creating a new save solely to recover an earlier item.
Are Fallen Village collectibles missable?
The available chapter guidance says that nothing needed for trophies and 100% completion is missable and that every area can be revisited at any time. That includes returning to Fallen Village after advancing to later chapters or finishing the story.

The full guide reports 89 collectibles in total, according to PowerPyx’s 2026 coverage. Its completion tracking includes Amber, Ferrofluid upgrades, and related completion items. The number is a whole-game total, not a count of Fallen Village objects alone, so do not treat 89 as the village’s local collectible count.
For a practical cleanup route:
- Use the guide or your own checklist to identify the unfinished item and its area.
- Choose a lantern in or near Fallen Village, with the Marketplace lantern being the documented return point for later cleanup routes.
- Walk the connected path if the objective is not directly beside the lantern; the region’s shortcuts can reduce repeated travel.
- After collecting the item or completing the side activity, use the next lantern you reach as your new checkpoint before moving elsewhere.
Because the game permits area revisits, you can defer this process until after the story rather than interrupting progression every time you notice an unexplored corner.

Check the timing before assuming something is wrong.
You have not defeated the Chapter 2 boss
Lanterns may already exist, but their names are not shown in the fast-travel menu until after the Chapter 2 boss, according to the Chapter 1 guide. Continue the story to that unlock point, then check the lantern interface again.

You are using a lantern without the travel option
A lantern is both a checkpoint and part of the travel network, but the available actions can differ depending on where you are in progression. Confirm that you are opening the travel function rather than only using the lantern as a respawn point.

- Compatible with Wide Screens - To ensure compatibility with the dual monitor mount, your each monitor must meet three conditions at the same time: First, computer screens size range: 13 to 32 inches. Second, screen weight range: 4.4 to 19.8 lbs. Third, the back of the monitor screen must have VESA mounting holes with a pitch of 75x75mm or 100x100mm.
- Regarding the compatibility with desks - Your desk must meet three conditions at the same time: First, desk material: Only wooden desks are recommended, plastic or glass desks cannot be used. Second, desk thickness range: 0.59" - 3.54". Third, the bottom of the desk should not have any cross beams or panels, as this will interfere with installation. Built-in cable management guides wires along the arms, keeping cords out of sight and out of the way. Enjoy a tidy, modern workstation that looks as good as it feels to use.
You need a specific sub-area
Fallen Village is described through areas including the Fields and Marketplace. If your objective is in one of those spaces, select the closest named lantern rather than searching for a destination named exactly after the objective.
You are following an older route on foot
Walk back through the connected paths and look for the Chapter 3 shortcut to a previous lantern. The existence of that shortcut means the physical route can be shorter than the first approach.
Before the ending or after the ending: which is better?
Both timings work because the game supports revisits before and after the story. Returning immediately is useful when a side quest or collectible is already on your route. Waiting until the ending is convenient if you want uninterrupted story progression and a single cleanup session.
| Cleanup timing | What is confirmed | Practical choice |
|---|---|---|
| During the main story | Later chapter routes revisit Fallen Village, including the Fields and Marketplace | Handle an objective when you are already near the relevant lantern |
| After the ending | Free roam continues and all areas remain reachable | Finish the narrative first, then use lantern travel for a complete cleanup sweep |
There is no completion advantage to rushing back solely out of fear that the village will lock. The decision is about route efficiency and personal play style, not access.
A reliable Fallen Village cleanup plan
If you want to finish the area methodically, use this order:
- Complete the current story objective. Avoid abandoning a chapter route just because you have seen an unexplored item.
- Record the location. Note whether the target is associated with the Fields, Marketplace, or another connected section.
- Unlock the named lantern list. If you have not defeated the Chapter 2 boss, continue until the fast-travel menu displays lantern names.
- Return to the closest checkpoint. Use the village lantern that matches the objective; the Marketplace lantern is specifically used for later quest and collectible cleanup.
- Inspect shortcuts on foot. If the item is not immediately visible, follow the connected route and use the known shortcut back to a prior lantern.
- Finish remaining categories. Check Amber, Ferrofluid upgrades, and other completion items against your list.
- Repeat after the ending if necessary. Post-story free roam allows a final sweep without restarting the game.
This approach separates navigation from completion tracking: lanterns get you to the correct part of the map, while a checklist prevents you from confusing the game’s 89-item total with the number found in Fallen Village itself.
