Which Mafia game was included?
The giveaway was for the 2002 original, Mafia: The City of Lost Heaven, not Mafia: Definitive Edition. Steam identifies the original as an Illusion Softworks game published by 2K and lists its release date as August 28, 2002. Its single-player story follows cabdriver Tommy Angelo as he becomes involved in organized crime in 1930s New Heaven. Steam’s original-game listing provides those details.
Mafia: Definitive Edition is a separate 2020 release described by 2K as a ground-up remake of the original. It was not the title named in the 2022 giveaway. 2K’s announcement of the Mafia Trilogy distinguishes the remake from the original.
