Yes. Beast of Reincarnation remains playable after the announced final major update. Game Freak’s announcement ends the current phase of frequent, major post-launch patches; it does not announce a shutdown, revoke ownership, deactivate the PS5 disc, or set an expiry date for a digital license. The announcement also says both physical and digital editions update automatically when launched and remain playable even if the patch has not been installed.
What the “final update” actually means
Game Freak described the next patch as “the final patch in this ongoing phase of major post-launch updates.” The patch was planned for October 19, 2026, although the announcement said the final date was still to be determined. That wording closes the current cycle of frequent major updates. It does not say that every future technical fix is impossible, that online services are being switched off, or that the game will stop launching.

The distinction matters. A final major-update phase is a development and release milestone, not a delisting notice. Nothing in the announcement says that a purchased copy becomes invalid. It also does not state that an installed game must connect to a server before it can be played. The practical change is that players should not expect the same cadence of large post-launch patches after this update.
Can you still launch and play the game?
Yes. Owners can continue launching an installed copy after the final major update. A physical PS5 disc is not described as being deactivated, and a digital purchase is not described as expiring. The official PlayStation listing marks offline play as enabled, which is the clearest platform-specific confirmation that a PS5 owner can play without a continuing internet connection.

The update announcement applies to both purchase formats: physical and digital editions download updates automatically when the game is launched. It also says the game can still be played without the patch. Therefore, a missed update should not by itself prevent you from starting the game. Installing the latest patch is still the preferred option because it gives you the fixes included in that release, but it is not presented as a prerequisite for play.
Did Game Freak shut Beast of Reincarnation down?
No. The announcement reported on October 16, 2026, concerns the end of the current major-patch phase, not the closure of the game. There is no stated shutdown date, ownership revocation, or requirement to replace an existing copy.

Official platform pages continue to list versions of Beast of Reincarnation. The dates below identify the editions and listings documented in the available announcements; they are not a promise that every store’s catalog wording will remain unchanged indefinitely.

These listings answer the availability question more reliably than speculation about what “final” might imply. They show that PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC editions remain documented, while the update announcement explains how patches behave for both physical and digital copies.
What happens when you start the game?
With an internet connection
- Start Beast of Reincarnation from your PS5, Xbox console, Xbox app or Steam library.
- Leave the platform connected to the internet while the title checks for an update.
- Allow the download and installation to finish before playing if you want the latest available fixes.
- Launch the game and check the version number on the title screen.
The announcement says updates download automatically upon launching for both physical and digital editions. That means inserting the PS5 disc does not bypass the update process, and owning a digital copy does not create a separate update rule. The platform may display its own download or installation status, but the underlying behavior described by the announcement is the same.
Without an immediate update
If you cannot download the patch immediately, the announcement says the game remains playable without it. You can therefore try launching the installed copy and update later when a connection is available. This is especially useful when you are traveling, using a limited connection, or waiting for a download to complete at a more convenient time.

Playing before updating means you are running the version already installed on your system. The announcement does not provide a guarantee that every issue fixed by the final patch will be absent from that older build, so updating remains advisable when practical. It does, however, make clear that failure to install the patch immediately is not itself a shutdown mechanism.
Can you play offline?
For PS5, yes: the official PlayStation listing explicitly marks offline play as enabled. That is the strongest direct confirmation for offline use in the available platform information.
The update announcement also says the game can be played without applying the patch, but it does not provide a separate, platform-by-platform offline feature list for Xbox or Steam. Do not read the PS5 store label as a universal statement about every PC or Xbox function. If you need to play away from the internet on another platform, update while connected first, then follow that platform’s own offline-mode requirements. The available information confirms the game’s continued playability and the PS5 offline designation; it does not document every account, launcher or feature condition on other platforms.
Is Beast of Reincarnation still on Game Pass?

Subscription catalogs and eligibility can change independently of a game’s final major patch. Check the current Xbox listing in your region before relying on Game Pass for access. If the title is no longer included in your plan or market, the final-update announcement does not create a permanent subscription entitlement; you would need an eligible subscription or a purchased license.
Physical disc versus digital purchase
Physical PS5 copy
The official Japanese product site documents a PS5 package release dated August 4, 2026. The disc is not described as expiring after the final update. When you launch it, the announcement says the platform automatically checks for and downloads updates. If no update is available or you cannot install it immediately, the same announcement says the game remains playable without the patch.
Digital copy
A digital license is likewise not described as expiring or being revoked. Launch-time update behavior applies to digital editions as well as physical ones. Keep the game installed and use the account that owns the license; the final-update notice does not introduce a new activation deadline.

The practical choice depends on ownership, subscription use and where you want to play, rather than on fears that one edition will stop working.

No authoritative current player-count or sales total is provided in the available official material, so popularity figures cannot establish whether the game is still playable. The platform listings and the update notice are the relevant evidence for that question.
What to do if the final patch is not appearing
- Start connected. Launch the game while your console or PC is online so the platform can check for the latest patch.
- Wait for the download. On a physical or digital copy, allow the update to complete before starting the game if you want the newest fixes.
- Try the installed version. If updating is not possible, attempt to launch the game anyway; the announcement says play remains possible without the patch.

Beast of Reincarnation is still playable after the final update. Connect once to let your platform check for the patch, install it when convenient, and verify the version on the title screen.
