Yes. A standard trade-up contract exchanges 10 Classified (pink) weapon skins for 1 Covert (red) skin. The current official material is for Counter-Strike 2, though the ten-item rarity ladder is the familiar mechanic behind the CS:GO wording.
How many pink skins do you need for a red?
You need 10 Classified skins. Steam Support describes the regular trade-up ladder as exchanging 10 items of the same rarity for 1 item of the next higher rarity; the contract reference lists the specific step as 10 Classified → 1 Covert. See Steam Support’s trade-up FAQ and the contract reference.
What can the contract give you?
The result is one Covert skin from eligible outcomes associated with the collections represented among your inputs. You do not select or guarantee a particular red skin. The unofficial cs2.gs reference says each eligible skin behind the same number of inputs is equally likely; it is a fan project, not a Valve-published odds table. Its trade-up odds explanation describes how collection representation shapes the possible output pool.
Does the input float affect the result?
According to the same unofficial reference, the output float is based on the mean float of the 10 inputs, mapped to the winning skin’s wear range. That means both the chosen collection mix and the condition of your inputs matter when evaluating possible outcomes. The reference also says StatTrak trade-ups use 10 StatTrak inputs and the same table; see its float explanation.

Is there a separate trade-up for knives or gloves?
Yes. Valve’s October 22, 2025 Counter-Strike 2 update added a distinct higher-tier contract: “5 regular Covert items can be exchanged for one regular Knife item or one regular Gloves item from a collection of one of the items provided.” The update also allows 5 StatTrak Covert items to be exchanged for one StatTrak knife from a collection represented by an input. This is separate from—not a replacement for—the 10 Classified-to-Covert contract. Read Valve’s October 22, 2025 update notes.
Does trading up to a red make money?
The recipe alone cannot establish whether a contract is profitable. The contract reference documents mechanics, not prices, and no current market values or expected returns are established here. Before spending skins, compare the cost of all 10 inputs with the market value of the possible outputs, accounting for the fact that the contract can produce a different eligible red than the one you want.

Is this still a CS:GO mechanic?
The title uses CS:GO, but the current official sources describe Counter-Strike 2. The ten-item, next-rarity contract is documented by Steam Support and the contract reference; Valve’s 2025 update establishes the additional Covert-to-knife-or-gloves route in Counter-Strike 2.
