Sign in to Microsoft Services & subscriptions with the Microsoft account tied to your child’s Xbox subscription. Open the subscription’s Manage page, choose Turn on recurring billing, and follow the prompts. Microsoft specifically advises using the child’s account—not the parent’s—to update a child’s subscription.
Enable recurring billing online
- Go to account.microsoft.com/services and sign in with the Microsoft account associated with your child’s subscription.
- Find the Xbox subscription and select Manage.
- Select Turn on recurring billing and follow the on-screen prompts. If the page instead offers Renew or Resubscribe, Microsoft says choosing either option also turns recurring billing on.
- After completing the prompts, check the subscription page for a renewal date or notice of an upcoming charge.

If the subscription or button is missing
If you cannot find the Xbox subscription, confirm that you are signed in to the Microsoft account associated with it. Microsoft also notes that a missing Manage link can mean the subscription details are already open; check the page for the recurring-billing option or renewal information.
Prepaid subscriptions cannot be switched to recurring billing
If the subscription says Paid with pre-paid card and was activated with a download code or single-use token, Microsoft says recurring billing cannot be enabled for that existing subscription. Its guidance is to purchase a new subscription after the current one expires.

How to tell whether recurring billing is already on
A renewal date or an upcoming-charge notice on the subscription page indicates that recurring billing is already enabled. Microsoft’s complete instructions are available in its guide to turning recurring billing on or off.

Microsoft’s step-by-step guidance for this task uses the online Services & subscriptions page. The cited instructions do not establish a universal Xbox-console menu path for enabling recurring billing on a child’s subscription.
