What are the official GTA 6 console requirements?
The official requirement is a console in one of two current-generation families: PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro) or Xbox Series X|S. The announcements identify supported platforms rather than a list of CPU, GPU, memory and storage thresholds. Will GTA 6 run on Xbox Series X and Series S?

Xbox Series X
Series X is an announced launch platform. It may appeal to buyers who prefer Xbox’s ecosystem or want the higher-end Series model, but the current GTA VI materials do not publish console-specific image-quality or frame-rate targets. Do not present an unannounced “Series X mode” as fact.
Xbox Series S
Series S is also an announced launch platform. Its inclusion confirms compatibility, not identical settings to Series X. Rockstar and Xbox have not stated the Series S resolution, frame rate, graphics modes, ray-tracing behavior or storage requirement for GTA VI, so those values should remain open until an official specification is released.
Can PS4 or Xbox One play GTA 6?

If you are choosing between the two, treat the decision as a hardware preference rather than a compatibility test. Wait for Rockstar or Sony to publish any concrete Pro-specific modes before assigning it a guaranteed resolution or frame-rate benefit.
Which console should you buy for GTA 6?
For GTA VI alone, buy or keep any console in the announced family. Your existing ownership and ecosystem preference are more defensible buying criteria than rumors about unannounced performance modes.
If you already own a supported console
- Keep a standard PS5; it is an announced platform.
- Keep a PS5 Pro if you own one; it is supported but optional.

When is GTA 6 releasing, and what editions are announced?
The planned release date is November 19, 2026. Because it is a planned date, schedules can change; check the official store listing near launch for the current date and preorder status.
Take-Two’s preorder announcement lists a $79.99 game price. That is the announced price for the game, not a price for any console, and prices can vary by region, taxes and edition. Rockstar’s support information says players can preorder on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S and identifies Standard and Ultimate editions.
The platform and edition information does not add a different hardware requirement. Both announced console families remain the relevant compatibility boundary.

- On PlayStation, open the console’s system information and confirm that it identifies a PS5 model rather than PS4.
- On Xbox, open the console information page and confirm that the model is Series X or Series S rather than Xbox One.
- Check the game’s official store listing for the console family and edition you intend to preorder.
- Before launch, review Rockstar’s latest support information for any newly published storage, update or display requirements.
This check prevents a common mistake: confusing a console’s ability to run other current games with an official GTA VI listing. Compatibility should be established from the GTA VI platform announcement itself.
How should you read rumors about GTA 6 requirements?
