If a game will not open because of Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC), the right fix depends on the exact error, the game, and its launcher. Write down the full message or error code, then use that game’s official support instructions before trying general fixes. Without those details, there is no single fix that can be recommended for every EAC launch failure.
Start with the exact error and the game’s support page
Record the game, operating system and version, launcher, full error text or code, and whether other EAC-protected games open. Note any recent game or OS update, security-software change, or network-setting change; these details help the publisher distinguish a game-specific problem from a broader one.
Search the game publisher’s official support site for the exact error, and follow instructions written for that game. Epic Games Store Support recommends this approach and points players to game-specific EAC setup guidance, including for Fall Guys, Fortnite, and Rocket League. If the game-specific article does not resolve the issue, Epic recommends continuing with its general troubleshooting steps: Epic Games Store: “Couldn’t start the game” Easy Anti-Cheat error.
Check that you are using a supported launcher
For games covered by Epic’s guidance, launch through the launcher supported for your game and ownership. Epic says to use Epic Games Launcher in general, with exceptions: Fall Guys may be launched through Steam, and Rocket League may be launched through Steam or Steam Deck when owned there. These instructions apply to the games and cases Epic documents; they are not a universal rule for every EAC game.

Match the fix to what the error says
If the message says an EAC service update failed
Epic says service updates should normally happen automatically, but can fail. For this particular failure, its instructions are to download the updated EasyAntiCheat.exe from Epic, replace the existing executable in the specified EasyAntiCheat folder, and then start the game normally. Follow Epic’s directions for locating the correct folder and file: Epic Games Store: How to fix “Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) Service Update Failed” error. Do not use this replacement procedure for unrelated EAC errors or download an executable from an unofficial site.
If the error points to a connection or download problem
Epic names two EAC download endpoints to check in its troubleshooting article. When reachable, they should return “200 – HTTP OK.” If neither does, check whether a firewall is blocking the connection and investigate router or network settings. Epic recommends contacting the router maker or internet service provider if you need help with those settings. These endpoint checks are specific to Epic’s guidance, not a general test of every game’s network requirements.

If there is no clear error-specific remedy
Epic’s general guidance suggests trying software and game-file checks rather than assuming a hardware fault. Work through these in order:
- Install available operating-system updates.
- Install the latest Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables.
- Run Microsoft’s System File Checker steps.
- Close background programs that might interfere, using Epic’s cold-reboot guidance if needed.
- Verify the affected game’s files through the launcher’s instructions.

When to contact the publisher
If the game still will not open, contact that game’s publisher support. Include the exact error, launcher, operating-system version, whether other EAC games work, recent changes, and the checks you completed. The game and error are not specified here, so the cause cannot be identified or a successful fix promised without those details.
Platform compatibility also depends on the particular game and release. Epic’s developer documentation lists Linux ARM64, Android, iOS, and console as unsupported for the EAC integration it documents; this is developer-facing information, not a blanket compatibility ruling for every game: Epic Online Services: Anti-Cheat Interface.
