Jetpack Cat is a playable Support hero in Overwatch. Blizzard included her among the first five heroes of Season 1, which began February 10, 2026; she is no longer an upcoming addition. Her kit combines flight, healing, ally transport and enemy disruption, and Blizzard later adjusted several of her values in an August 11, 2026 patch.
When did Jetpack Cat come out?
Jetpack Cat joined the game with Season 1 on February 10, 2026, as one of five new heroes in the season’s opening lineup. Blizzard’s Overwatch Spotlight announcement put her on the roster as a Support hero, while its season director’s update provides the launch context. Blizzard summed up the reveal: “Yup. Jetpack Cat is finally joining the lineup.”
What are Jetpack Cat’s abilities?
Her announced kit is built around staying airborne while helping teammates and disrupting opponents. The abilities listed by Blizzard are:
- Biotic Pawjectiles: Fires a mid-range projectile spread that heals allies and damages enemies.
- Lifeline: A toggleable transport mode that tows an ally, increases Jetpack Cat’s movement speed and heals the carried teammate.
- Frenetic Flight: Accelerates her in the direction she is moving. Fuel recovers more slowly while she carries another player.
- Purr: Creates a pulsing area heal that grows more frequent over time; activating it knocks back nearby enemies.
- Catnapper (ultimate): Dives toward a ground location, knocks down enemies and tethers the nearest enemy.
- Jetpack (passive): Gives her permanent flight.
Together, those tools let her contribute through healing and ally movement, use flight for personal mobility, and interrupt enemies with knockback or her ultimate. That describes the announced abilities, not a guarantee of competitive strength.

What changed after launch?
Blizzard’s August 11, 2026 retail patch notes record a later round of changes. They are a dated balance snapshot; a newer patch may have superseded them.
- Base movement speed increased from 5.5 to 6 meters per second.
- Air acceleration increased from 7.7 to 9.5.
- Lifeline’s movement-speed bonus decreased from 40% to 30%.
- Ultimate cost increased by 7%.
- The Headbutt major perk was removed and replaced by Purrfect Form, which gives each Purr pulse three waves.
These changes mean the launch description should not be treated as a complete statement of her later tuning. Check the latest official patch notes for live values.

Why did Blizzard add a cat hero now?
The idea is much older than the reveal. In Weekly Recall: Jetpack Cat, The Purr-fect Storm, Blizzard says the concept dates back more than ten years to Titan, the original game project that led to Overwatch. The retrospective says the team chose her for Season 1 as a cheerful, unusual contrast to darker story arcs and drew on feline behavior when designing her abilities.
Her fictional origin is deliberately brief: Blizzard says she was found as a stray in Gibraltar. The retrospective identifies her as Fika and says Brigitte Lindholm engineered her jetpack in the lore.
