Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is scheduled to launch on October 15, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Steam. The upcoming 2D action-exploration game puts Rose Belmont in 1499 Paris, where she uses the Vampire Killer whip to fight monsters and move through the environment. Konami’s official description calls it “2D Action-Exploration”; “Metroidvania” is a useful genre shorthand, not Konami’s stated category.

How does the gameplay work?
Konami presents exploration and combat as linked parts of the adventure: the Vampire Killer is not only a weapon but also a way to move through areas. Official descriptions also call out additional weapons and abilities, bosses, traps, secrets and hidden rooms. These are announced features, not claims based on independent hands-on testing.
Whip traversal and combat
The whip can help Rose cross the environment as well as attack enemies. That dual role is central to the game’s 2D action-exploration approach, making movement part of how players engage with areas rather than a separate system.
