The collection also adapts the DS games’ two-screen presentation with configurable layouts, including an option to keep gameplay, status, and map visible together.
Which games are in Castlevania Dominus Collection?
Konami’s collection brings together five games: three entries originally released for Nintendo DS between 2005 and 2008, plus the 1988 arcade original Haunted Castle and Haunted Castle Revisited, a redesigned and rebalanced version of that arcade game. Konami describes the three DS titles as the collection’s core games and Haunted Castle as a bonus selection.

- Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow: Soma Cruz returns after the events of Aria of Sorrow. Its signature mechanic lets Soma combine souls to create weapons.
- Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin: Players switch between Jonathan Morris and Charlotte Aulin, whose abilities differ.
- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia: Shanoa gathers glyphs and pursues stolen glyphs powerful enough to challenge Dracula.
- Haunted Castle: The original 1988 arcade game is included for players who want its notably extreme difficulty.
- Haunted Castle Revisited: A reimagined edition with visual changes and rebalancing. Producer Tsutomu Taniguchi said the concept began as a small-scale remake but grew into a full-scale one.
These descriptions reflect Konami’s summaries of the games, not a ranking of their quality. The three DS entries offer different protagonists and mechanics, so which one appeals most depends on whether you prefer Soma’s soul-based weapon creation, the paired play of Jonathan and Charlotte, or Shanoa’s glyph abilities. Konami’s collection site has the publisher’s descriptions.

The original DS games used two 4:3 screens, while modern displays are commonly 16:9. Konami producer Tsutomu Taniguchi told Xbox Wire that the collection offers five screen modes to arrange the game’s screens for modern displays. He recommends a three-screen layout that enlarges gameplay while showing status and map windows alongside it. Players can also choose two-screen arrangements for a presentation closer to the original DS setup. A dot-by-dot mode is available for compatible display resolutions.
#1 Best Overall
- LIMITED EDITION: Official Limited Run Games release #251 of the Castlevania Dominus Collection featuring Order of Ecclesia cover art for Nintendo Switch
- GAME FORMAT: Physical DVD-ROM release, not a digital download, packaged in standard Nintendo Switch game case
- CONTENT: Action-packed collection of classic Castlevania games, rated T for Teen by ESRB
- PACKAGING DIMENSIONS: Comes in standard Switch case measuring 6 inches high, 3 inches wide, and 2 inches deep
- REGION AND LANGUAGE: US release with English language support, compatible with Nintendo Switch systems
Konami says the original dual-screen buttons and display layouts can be customized. That flexibility matters because status and map information are not merely decorative: the three-window option lets players keep both visible while playing, rather than repeatedly switching between screens.

Is this a good way to revisit the DS Castlevania games?
For players who want the three DS entries on current platforms, the collection supplies all three alongside two Haunted Castle versions. The adjustable screen layouts address the most visible difference from the original hardware, while rewind, quick saves, regional versions, and archival material add options around the games. Konami producer Taniguchi said the team heard players asking to play the three DS titles on current consoles; this collection is the response, without reducing its contents to those three games alone.
