cdrpdf.dll is a Corel component, not a Windows system DLL. If CorelDRAW or another Corel Graphics application reports that cdrpdf.dll is missing, was not found, or could not be loaded, repair the Corel installation that owns the file rather than downloading a replacement.
Start with this diagnostic checklist
Before changing anything, record four details:
- Which program fails: CorelDRAW, Corel PHOTO-PAINT, Corel Font Manager, or another Corel Graphics application.
- When the error appears: during launch, PDF import, PDF export, or after opening a particular document.
- The complete path in the error: for example,
C:Program FilesCorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2019Programs64CdrPDF.dll. - The installed architecture: current CorelDRAW releases require 64-bit Windows, while older releases could be installed on either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows.
Commonly reported wording includes “Cdrpdf.dll is missing,” “Application failed because cdrpdf.dll was not found,” and “Cdrpdf.dll Access Violation.” The exact wording depends on the Corel release and the failure point. A message mentioning MSVCP140, VCRUNTIME140, an entry point, or “Bad Image” points more strongly toward a dependency or architecture problem than a simple missing file.

Do not assume that a path under C:WindowsSystem32 is correct. Corel normally keeps its own components in the application directory, such as a Programs or Programs64 folder.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWhat cdrpdf.dll does
cdrpdf.dll is described as Corel’s Portable Document Format DLL. It is associated with the Corel Common Framework and supports PDF-related functions in Corel software, including PDF import and export.

It is application software published by Corel Corporation. It is not part of Windows, DirectX, or the standard .NET runtime. A CorelDRAW crash report has shown the file loading from a path similar to:
C:Program FilesCorelCorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2019Programs64CdrPDF.dll
That path is evidence for a CorelDRAW 2019 installation, not a universal location for every Corel product or release. File versions and locations vary between CorelDRAW 12, X3, X5, X8, 2019, 2024, 2025, and 2026. Do not copy a file from one release into another.
Fix 1: Repair the installed Corel program
Repair is the safest and most likely fix when the file was deleted, damaged, or partially removed by an update.
- Save your work and close every Corel application.
- Press Win + R.
- Type:
text
appwiz.cpl
- Press Enter.
- Find the installed CorelDRAW Graphics Suite or other affected Corel product.
- Select it and choose Uninstall/Change.
- In the Corel maintenance window, select Repair.
- Follow the prompts and allow the installer to restore its program files.
- Restart Windows.
- Launch the same Corel application again and repeat the PDF operation that failed.
If the repair completes successfully, the program should start without the missing-file message and PDF import or export should work normally.
If Repair is not available, or the repair finishes but the same message returns, continue with a clean reinstall. Do not download cdrpdf.dll separately.
Fix 2: Perform a clean Corel reinstall
A clean reinstall is appropriate when:
- Repair is unavailable.
- A Corel update was interrupted.
- The program was removed incompletely.
- The file disappears again after repair.
- Corel opens under one Windows account but not another.
- The error began after moving the installation, restoring a disk image, or migrating a user profile.
Before removing Corel, back up custom workspaces, templates, brushes, macros, fonts, and other settings that you need to preserve.
- Open Settings with Win + I.
- Select Apps.
- Open Installed apps on Windows 11, or Apps & features on Windows 10.
- Find the affected Corel product.
- Select the three-dot menu or the product entry.
- Choose Uninstall and complete the removal.
- Restart Windows.
- Use Corel’s official installer or the installer associated with your Corel account and exact product release.
- Run the installer using an administrator account.
- Install the same product and edition that previously failed.
- Restart Windows again before testing PDF functions.
If ordinary removal leaves the problem behind, use Corel’s official clean-reinstallation procedure for that product. Such procedures can remove leftover program and configuration files that an ordinary uninstall does not remove.

A cdrpdf.dll from another version is not an interchangeable replacement.
Fix 3: Check Visual C++ dependencies
A missing or damaged cdrpdf.dll message can sometimes be a dependency failure. The file may exist, but Windows cannot load it because a required Microsoft Visual C++ runtime is missing, damaged, or the wrong architecture.
This is especially relevant when the error mentions:
MSVCP140.dllVCRUNTIME140.dll- An entry point that cannot be found
- “Bad Image”
- Error status
0xc000012f - A crash immediately after a Corel update
Corel applications and their components can use both 32-bit and 64-bit runtime libraries. Microsoft states that the redistributable architecture must match the application, and x86 and x64 packages can coexist.
Install or repair both official packages:
- Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable downloads
- Microsoft-supported x64 package
- Microsoft-supported x86 package
For each package:
- Download the installer from Microsoft.
- Run it.
- Choose Repair if that option appears.
- If Repair is unavailable, choose Install.
- Restart Windows.
- Test Corel again.
A 32-bit Corel component needs the x86 runtime even on 64-bit Windows. Installing only x64 does not replace x86 libraries. Conversely, adding x86 does not repair a damaged x64 runtime.
If the runtime repair changes nothing, return to the Corel repair or clean-reinstall path. The Visual C++ packages do not contain cdrpdf.dll; they only provide separate libraries that Corel components may require.
Fix 4: Check antivirus quarantine
Security software may quarantine a Corel file after an update, a false detection, or a change in file reputation. Check this before reinstalling repeatedly.
In Windows Security:
- Open Settings.
- Select Privacy & security on Windows 11, or Update & Security on Windows 10.
- Select Windows Security.
- Open Virus & threat protection.
- Select Protection history.
- Look for an event involving
CdrPDF.dll, the Corel installation folder, or the Corel installer.
If the item is clearly the file from your trusted Corel installation, verify the full path and publisher before taking action. Restore or allow it only when the installation source is trustworthy and the detection is understood. Then repair Corel so that the correct file and related components are restored together.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
If the detection is unfamiliar, the path is outside the Corel installation, or the file came from an unofficial source, do not restore it. Remove the suspicious file, scan the computer, and reinstall Corel from its official installer.
If the file is quarantined again immediately after reinstalling:
- Check Windows Security protection history again.
- Review third-party antivirus logs.
- Temporarily investigate the security product’s detection according to its documented policy.
- Check whether the installer or Corel folder has unusual permissions.
- Contact Corel support and the security-software vendor if both identify the file.
Fix 5: Update Corel from the correct release
A failed or incomplete Corel update can leave a program with files from different builds. Corel updates are version-specific, so an update for one release cannot necessarily be applied to another.
- Identify the exact Corel product and release shown in Installed apps or Programs and Features.
- Use Corel’s official update channel for that exact release.
- Install the applicable patch or update.
- Restart Windows.
- Test both application launch and PDF import or export.
If the update installer fails, do not mix files from another Corel version. Run Corel Repair first. If that fails, perform the clean reinstall described above.

System File Checker and DISM repair protected Windows components. They generally cannot recreate an application-owned file such as cdrpdf.dll.
Use these commands when several unrelated programs are failing, Windows components are also reporting corruption, or the problem followed a broader system failure.
- Open Start.
- Type Command Prompt.
- Right-click Command Prompt.
- Select Run as administrator.
- Run DISM first:

- Run System File Checker:
text
sfc /scannow
- Restart Windows.
- Test Corel again.
DISM repairs the Windows component store, and SFC checks protected system files. If both commands report successful repairs but Corel still cannot load cdrpdf.dll, repair or reinstall Corel. Repeating SFC will not supply a Corel application binary.

If you regularly spend time comparing logs and repeating SFC or DISM without knowing which component changed, Outbyte PC Repair can scan for problems and show what it found; repairs are performed by the full version, but reinstalling Corel remains the definitive fix for a missing Corel file.
Fix 7: Consider a recent system change
If the failure began immediately after a driver, update, program, or security-software change, System Restore may help.
- Press Win + R.
- Type:
text
rstrui.exe
- Press Enter.
- Select a restore point from before the problem began.
- Use Scan for affected programs if available.
- Confirm the restore point.
- Restart Windows and test Corel.
System Restore does not replace a Corel repair when the installation itself is damaged. It is most useful when the failure clearly follows a recent system change.
If you suspect malware or storage corruption, run a complete security scan and check the health of the drive. If the file vanishes again after installation, inspect antivirus history, Windows Installer logs, permissions, available disk space, and whether the installer is being run from a restricted or damaged user profile.
Fix 8: Update drivers only for crashes or rendering failures
A graphics driver is relevant when Corel crashes during rendering, shows display corruption, or becomes unstable. It is not the normal cause of a straightforward “cdrpdf.dll is missing” message, and reinstalling a driver will not normally restore a Corel DLL.
To check the display driver:
- Right-click Start.
- Select Device Manager.
- Expand Display adapters.
- Right-click the graphics adapter.
- Select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers.
- Restart Windows if a driver is installed.
- Test Corel again.
For a clean driver update, use the graphics manufacturer’s official support channel and select the package matching the adapter and Windows architecture. Do not remove the display device unless you have the correct replacement driver available.
Manually checking several hardware vendors and matching driver versions can take time, especially on office machines with different graphics hardware. Outbyte Driver Updater can scan for outdated drivers and identify the required installation; the driver install is completed by the full version, and it is not a substitute for repairing Corel when cdrpdf.dll itself is missing.
Why manual DLL downloads are unsafe
Do not download cdrpdf.dll from a random DLL archive, rename another file, or copy the file into C:WindowsSystem32 or C:WindowsSysWOW64.
Recommended Free Tools
That approach can fail because:
- The download may contain malware or an altered binary.
- The file may belong to a different Corel release.
- The architecture may be wrong.
- Related Corel files may still be missing.
- The file may require a different Visual C++ runtime.
- Windows may continue loading the damaged copy from the application directory.
- Copying into a system folder can create a second, confusing version of the file.
Windows normally searches the application directory as part of its DLL search process. An application-owned DLL should therefore be restored by the application’s installer, not by placing an unrelated copy in a Windows folder. Use Microsoft’s DLL search-order documentation when investigating an unusual load path.
The safe sources are the official Corel installer, the matching Corel update, Microsoft’s Visual C++ packages, and Windows repair tools for Windows-owned components.
Why regsvr32 normally does not help
regsvr32 is not a general-purpose DLL repair command. Microsoft documents it as a utility for DLLs that expose registration entry points such as DllRegisterServer.
There is no general Corel instruction to register cdrpdf.dll with regsvr32. Running commands such as these can produce another error without repairing the installation:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →regsvr32 C:pathtocdrpdf.dll
regsvr32 /u C:pathtocdrpdf.dll
Do not use regsvr32 unless Corel specifically instructs you to do so for your exact product and error. See Microsoft’s regsvr32 documentation for what the command actually does.
What to collect if the error continues
If Repair, reinstall, runtime repair, and the antivirus check do not resolve the problem, collect this information before contacting Corel:
- The complete error text and error code.
- The full path displayed for
cdrpdf.dll. - The exact Corel product, edition, and version.
- Whether the installation is 32-bit or 64-bit.
- The Windows edition and build.
- Whether the failure occurs at launch, PDF import, or PDF export.
- The date or system change after which it began.
- The Faulting module name from Event Viewer.
- The related entry from Reliability Monitor.
- Windows Security or third-party antivirus quarantine details.
- Whether the file disappears again after reinstalling.
To inspect Event Viewer:
- Press Win + R.
- Type:
text
eventvwr.msc
- Press Enter.
- Open Windows Logs.
- Select Application.
- Find the error at the time of the Corel crash.
- Record the application name, faulting module, exception code, and path.
To open Reliability Monitor:
- Press Win + R.
- Type:
text
perfmon /rel
- Press Enter.
- Select the failure date.
- Open the Corel application failure details.
- Record the faulting module and report summary.
Send those details to Corel support rather than replacing individual binaries. The correct fix may involve a residual configuration file, installer failure, runtime mismatch, permissions issue, or a product-specific defect.
FAQ
Is cdrpdf.dll a Windows file?
No. It is a Corel Portable Document Format DLL associated with Corel Common Framework and Corel Graphics applications.
Can I copy cdrpdf.dll into System32?
No. The correct file belongs with the Corel installation, and a system-folder copy can be the wrong version or architecture. Repair Corel from its official installer instead.
Does SFC restore cdrpdf.dll?
Normally, no. SFC repairs protected Windows components. It does not normally restore a missing Corel application DLL.
Should I install both Visual C++ x86 and x64?
When the error suggests a runtime or architecture problem, installing or repairing both official packages is appropriate. A 32-bit Corel component needs x86 even on 64-bit Windows.
Does regsvr32 fix the file?
Usually not. It is intended for DLLs that support registration entry points, and it is not a general repair method for Corel components.
Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?
Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minutePC Slower Than It Used to Be?
A free scan shows the junk files, broken settings and background clutter dragging Windows down - then fixes them in one click.Free scan · Windows 10 & 11Why does the error mention System32?
The message may reflect a failed load attempt, an incorrect old installation, or a misleading path. Check the complete path and identify the Corel installation that should own the file.
What if the file is quarantined again?
Do not keep restoring it blindly. Verify the Corel path and installer source, review the detection, scan the system, and investigate antivirus exclusions or false detections before reinstalling.
What is the definitive fix?
Repair the exact Corel installation first. If that fails, perform a clean reinstall from the official Corel installer, then repair the matching Visual C++ dependencies when the error indicates a runtime problem.
