Chandler Riggs has made a roughly 20-minute, fan-produced adaptation of Resident Evil 7 biohazard’s garage fight. A report published October 12, 2026 says the project, reportedly titled BIOHAZARD, casts Riggs as Ethan Winters opposite Jason Douglas as Jack Baker and was scheduled to premiere online October 14. That release date was still upcoming in the report, so the runtime, title and finished cut should be checked against the published film.

Why Ethan’s face will be visible
Resident Evil 7 presents Ethan through an immersive first-person viewpoint, and the game keeps his face largely out of view. Riggs said he considered shooting the fan film entirely in first person or avoiding Ethan’s face, but decided that showing him would make the story easier for a wider audience to follow.

He described that choice as a deliberate break from the game’s presentation while saying the production team was trying to remain faithful in other respects. That is Riggs’s stated creative intent, not an independent assessment of the unreleased cut. The film’s visible Ethan therefore represents an adaptation decision rather than a claim that the game’s viewpoint has changed.
Riggs’s reason for making it
Riggs said he had wanted to see a “good, true-to-the-game live-action adaptation of Resident Evil” and that the project grew from his desire to work on set and collaborate with other filmmakers. He also said the team was already in pre-production when news appeared that Zack Cregger was making a Resident Evil movie, prompting him to get the fan project finished first.

“I’ve been looking forward to [Cregger’s RE movie] for so long,” Riggs said in the interview as rendered by the report. He added that he would welcome the chance to continue in the universe if Cregger wanted him involved. Those quotations are attributed to Riggs by the secondary report and should be treated as interview remarks rather than an announcement of any studio casting.

Capcom classifies RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard as survival horror, built around fear, exploration and sustained tension. Its June 14, 2016 announcement lists North American and European release on January 24, 2017, Japanese release on January 26, 2017, and PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC as launch platforms. Capcom’s announcement also said the Resident Evil series had sold 68 million units cumulatively since the first game’s 1996 debut. That figure is franchise-wide and was published in 2016; it is not a sales number for Resident Evil 7 or for Riggs’s film.
