Original Xbox games do not have Xbox achievements. The original console launched before that achievement system existed, so an achievement list will not appear when one of those games runs on a modern Xbox. If by “original Xbox achievements” you mean achievements from older Xbox 360 games, selected backward-compatible titles can still show their records on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox achievement-tracking apps.
On a modern console, start the eligible game, press the Xbox button, then open Game activity and Achievements. In the Android, iOS, and Windows Xbox apps, sign in with the profile whose history you want and open its achievement area or the game’s details. Menu names can differ by app version and account rollout, but the generation distinction never changes: backward compatibility does not create achievements for an original Xbox title.

Do original Xbox games have Xbox achievements?
No. Xbox’s official backward-compatibility documentation states that the original Xbox did not have achievement functionality. That means there is no original-Xbox achievement list to recover, sync, or unlock on a current console or in the Xbox app.
The wording causes confusion because “original Xbox achievements” can refer to two different things:

- Achievements for Xbox 360 games played on a current Xbox: selected Xbox 360 titles have achievement records and can display them through the modern interface.
Running an original Xbox game through backward compatibility does not add an achievement framework that was absent from the original release. A missing list for one of those games is therefore normal, not evidence of a damaged profile or a synchronization failure.
How do I check achievements on an Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S?
Use the console Guide while an achievement-enabled title is open. The same route applies on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, although the surrounding layout can change with console updates.
What you need first
- A signed-in Xbox profile. Use the profile whose achievement history you want to inspect.
- An Xbox 360 title that is supported through backward compatibility and has an achievement list.
- An Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S console.
Backward compatibility is selective. Xbox says current Series X|S consoles support selected Xbox 360 and original Xbox games, and that particular features vary by game. Compatibility alone therefore does not guarantee that a title has achievements.
Console steps
- Confirm the game’s generation. Check whether it was released for the original Xbox or Xbox 360. An original Xbox release has no Xbox achievement list; an eligible Xbox 360 release may have one.
- Sign in to the correct profile. If several people use the console, verify the gamertag shown before launching the game. Achievement progress is presented for the signed-in profile.
- Launch the game. Start the backward-compatible title on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S and wait until the game is running.
- Open the Guide. Press the Xbox button on the controller.
- Open Game activity. In the Guide, choose Game activity.
- Choose Achievements. The achievement list and the profile’s progress for that title appear when the game exposes an achievement list.
If the title is an original Xbox game, stop after confirming its generation. The absence of an achievement page is expected. If it is an Xbox 360 game and the page is still absent, continue with the checks in the troubleshooting section rather than assuming the profile is broken.
What should appear?
For an achievement-enabled Xbox 360 title, the console can show the game’s achievement details and your progress from the signed-in profile. The list belongs to that game’s existing Xbox achievement record; backward compatibility does not convert an original Xbox title into an achievement-enabled one.

How do I check old Xbox achievements in the Xbox app?
Xbox identifies achievement tracking on the Xbox app for Android and iOS, the Xbox app for Windows PC, and PC Game Bar. Sign in with the same Xbox profile used on the console, then open the profile or achievement area and select the relevant game. Exact button names and placement can change as Microsoft updates each app, so look for the profile’s achievements, gaming activity, or completed-games view rather than relying on one permanent label.

- Open the Xbox app and sign in with the profile whose history you want to see.
- Open your profile or the area labeled for achievements or gaming activity.
- Select the Xbox 360 game. If it has an achievement record, the app can display the game’s achievements and progress associated with that profile.
The mobile interface may present achievements inside the profile rather than as a separate permanent tab. An app update, account rollout, or regional interface change can move the entry point without changing the underlying record.
Windows PC
- Open the Xbox app for Windows PC and sign in with the correct Xbox profile.
- Go to the profile, gaming activity, or achievement area.
- Choose the game whose record you want to inspect.
The Windows app is an account-history view, not a way to manufacture achievements for unsupported games. If the title is an original Xbox release, no list will appear because no original-Xbox achievement list exists.
PC Game Bar
Xbox also documents PC Game Bar as an achievement-tracking surface. Open Game Bar while signed in to the desired Xbox profile and look for the profile or gaming activity controls. Because Game Bar’s panels and labels can change independently from the console Guide and mobile app, use the achievement or gaming-activity area rather than expecting the console’s exact menu sequence.
Why does my old Xbox game show no achievements?
Usually, the game either belongs to the original Xbox generation or does not expose an achievement list through the current backward-compatibility service. Work through these cases in order.

The game is an original Xbox release
This is the most common explanation. Original Xbox hardware had no Xbox achievement functionality, so a modern console cannot display achievements for those releases. The result is the same in the console Guide and in achievement-tracking apps.
The game is an Xbox 360 release but is not supported
The backward-compatible catalog is selective rather than universal. A disc or digital ownership of an Xbox 360 game does not by itself mean the title runs on Xbox One or Series X|S, and compatibility features vary by game. If the title is not supported, the modern achievement workflow cannot expose its record through a running backward-compatible version.
The wrong Xbox profile is signed in
Achievement history follows the Xbox profile, not the console as a whole. Sign out or switch profiles, then repeat the check with the account that originally played the game. The app and console must use the same profile if you expect to see the same history.
You are looking in the wrong surface
On console, open the Guide while the game is running and use Game activity > Achievements. In an app, start from the signed-in profile or gaming-activity area and select the title. A menu may be placed differently after an update, so search for the achievement area instead of assuming it has the console’s exact wording.

The account has not received a newer profile feature
Xbox has been rolling out additional profile views to Xbox Insiders. A missing Gaming tab, completed-games view, or related filter can reflect staged availability rather than a missing achievement record. Use the established profile achievement area or the in-game Guide route when a newer tab is not present.

What is the difference between original Xbox and Xbox 360 achievements?
The generation determines whether an achievement list exists before the device or app does. This distinction is the key to interpreting every “missing achievements” result.

Which method should I use: console or app?
Choose the surface that matches what you are trying to verify, but first identify the game generation. The console is the clearest option when the game is already running; an app is more convenient for browsing a profile’s history away from the console.
- Use the console Guide when you want to inspect the active game immediately. It gives the documented path: Xbox button, Game activity, then Achievements.
- Use the Android or iOS app when you are checking several games or reviewing your history from a phone. Expect profile and achievement labels to move as the app changes.
- Use the Windows Xbox app or PC Game Bar when your account activity is already being viewed on a PC.
- Use neither as a repair tool for an original Xbox game. No interface can display achievements that the original platform never supported.
What are the Gaming tab and Mythic Achievements?
Xbox’s current Insider documentation describes a newer Gaming tab in the profile where achievements and completed games can appear. It also describes Mythic Achievements, a status that can recognize completed games, including eligible Xbox 360 titles. These are rollout-dependent Insider features, not a guaranteed replacement for the standard achievement view on every account.

Can backward compatibility create achievements for an original Xbox game?
No. Backward compatibility makes selected older games playable on newer hardware, but it does not retrofit the original Xbox with the achievement functionality it lacked. An original Xbox title remains a game without an Xbox achievement list even when it runs on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S.

For an Xbox 360 title, backward compatibility can let you view the achievements that belong to that game when the title is supported. The record must already exist as part of the Xbox 360 game’s achievement system; the modern console or app is only displaying it.
What should I remember when menu labels change?
Use the stable concepts rather than memorizing a screenshot. On a running console game, look for the Guide’s Game activity and Achievements entries. In an app, begin at the signed-in profile and look for achievements, gaming activity, or completed games.
Account rollouts can also affect what appears. The standard tracking surfaces are documented for Xbox One and Series X|S consoles, Android and iOS, Windows PC, and PC Game Bar, while newer Gaming-tab and completion features may be limited to Xbox Insiders or staged releases.

Can I earn achievements in an original Xbox game on Series X|S?
No. Playing an original Xbox title through backward compatibility does not add an achievement system to it. The game can be playable without ever contributing an Xbox achievement record.
Will my Xbox 360 achievements appear on both the console and the Xbox app?
For a supported Xbox 360 game, the same Xbox profile can expose its existing achievement history on the console and documented achievement-tracking apps. If one surface is missing the entry, check the profile and the game’s support status before treating it as lost data.
Does installing an old game restore missing achievements?
Installation does not create or reconstruct an achievement list. The list depends on the game’s original generation, backward-compatibility support, and the Xbox profile that owns the history.
Why is the Gaming tab missing from my Xbox profile?
The Gaming tab and related completion features have been described as Xbox Insider or staged-rollout features. Your account may still use the standard profile achievement view even when another account can see the newer tab.
