How to check before changing your phone
- Check Supercell’s official support portal for a maintenance announcement.
- Read any notice shown by the game when it can reach the service.
- Try again after the notice indicates that maintenance has ended.
If maintenance is active, reinstalling, changing DNS settings, or repeatedly forcing the app to update cannot restore battles before Supercell reopens the service. If no maintenance notice exists, continue with the store, operating-system, and connection checks rather than declaring an outage from the loading screen alone.
How do I check for a Clash Royale update?

Does my phone meet Clash Royale’s current operating-system requirements?

Supercell also cautions that meeting minimum specifications does not guarantee smooth play. Modified Android systems and custom ROMs may be unstable even when the displayed Android version is high enough. If your phone uses a modified system, treat that configuration as a possible source of update problems rather than assuming the version number settles the question.
What did the October 2024 compatibility notice mean?
In a notice published by the Clash Royale Team on 1 October 2024, Supercell wrote: “Starting with the update on October 2, we will be ending support for iOS versions 12 and below, as well as Android versions 6.0 and below.” That is a dated policy change, not proof of the requirements for every future release. Use it as historical context and compare your device with the current support article before deciding that the phone is permanently unsupported.

Could an unstable connection cause the updating screen?
Yes, an unstable connection is one troubleshooting category Supercell lists, but the loading screen does not diagnose a network failure. A connection can drop while the app checks or downloads update data, producing a symptom that looks like an app problem.
Connection checks that are safe to reverse
- Retry while connected to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
- If Wi-Fi is unreliable, switch to mobile data where your plan and coverage allow it.
- If mobile data is the problem, return to Wi-Fi and try the store and game again.
- Allow the store update to complete before opening Clash Royale again.
These switches are diagnostic, not guaranteed fixes. The official guidance does not establish that buying a router, charger, or other hardware resolves this particular screen, and no percentage of successful network fixes has been published.

Should I reinstall Clash Royale?
Reinstalling is a last resort because it removes the local app installation and adds an avoidable account-recovery risk. Supercell’s guidance says to connect the game to Supercell ID before deleting it. If you cannot confirm that connection, do not proceed merely because the loading screen is frustrating.
Protect the account first
- Open Clash Royale settings while you still can.

What to establish before submitting
- Whether a maintenance notice was visible.
- Whether the official store offered an update.
- Your device platform and operating-system version.
- Whether you tested another available connection.
- Whether Supercell ID is connected.
Describe the symptom as an update screen that does not progress and distinguish what you observed from what you suspect. For example, report that no maintenance notice appeared rather than asserting that Supercell’s servers are down. This keeps the request useful without diagnosing a cause the screen cannot prove.

Not by itself. A Supercell release note dated 9 October 2019 said an update fixed slow loading, loading that became stuck at 86%, and lag or poor-connection issues. That confirms a past stuck-loading bug, but it does not establish that a current player’s screen has the same cause or that the 2019 fix applies to a present release.
Use the note as historical context only. Follow the current maintenance, store, operating-system, connection, account-protection, and support steps rather than trying to reproduce an old workaround or treating “86%” as a current incident identifier.
What mistakes can make the problem harder to fix?
- Deleting before checking Supercell ID: You may create an account-recovery problem even though the original issue was temporary.
- Assuming maintenance has a set duration: Supercell does not promise a fixed wait time; retry after the official notice ends.
- Calling every stuck screen an outage: The symptom can also involve the store, operating system, connection, or installation.
- Treating the 2024 cutoff as a permanent universal rule: It documents the end of support for iOS 12 and below and Android 6.0 and below with the 2 October 2024 update; current requirements belong to the current support article.
- Assuming minimum OS means guaranteed performance: Supercell says minimum requirements do not guarantee smooth play, and modified Android systems may be unstable.

When is the problem likely outside your control?
If Supercell reports a maintenance break, access is intentionally disabled until that break ends. If the store shows no update, your operating system meets the listed requirement, and the same screen appears on a reliable connection, the remaining cause cannot be identified from the symptom alone. At that point, support is the appropriate path, especially when Supercell ID is connected and a reinstall has not helped.
